  1. Got down to the park today to check out Luna Park's lates ride - the Volarè (and can confirm it is pronounced VOL-ARE-AY). So, first impressions. Walking into the park, it absolutely DOMINATES the midway, and although the chairs don't entirely swing out past the edge, it's certainly incredible being up so high. The backdrop (as others have mentioned) has been updated and features some new buildings, as well as clouds at the bottom. IMO, the backdrop fits in quite nicely, which was definitely surprising but nice to see. As for the ride itself, I had two rides on it throughout the day and this thing absolutely halls ass! One of the more forceful wave swingers I've ever done, and much more so than the Zierer models. The drives are super loud, which certainly adds to the atmosphere of the ride, along with the screaming of riders. Operations were a bit slow, but considering the 64 capacity, it only took around 15 minutes to get on with a relatively full queue, which was nice. As for the appearance of the ride itself, I think that although Zierer would have done a better job, the overall appearance of the ride is pretty spot on, and certainly fits in with the aesthetic of Luna Park. The characters murals surrounding the top of the ride are a really nice touch, and the lighting also reflects a typical old-fashioned funfair/carnival vibe. I have a on-ride video I filmed (with park permission of course) that I will post as soon as my computer figures out how to handle 4K clips, until then, enjoy the pictures.

  2. It certainly is the closest thing to a Zierer, but you're right, they would have pushed the theming to a more personalised look, and some of the Zierers ive seen in Europe were insanely well themed! Now it's time for the park to either give some love to the Break Dance and Troika, or find them nice homes within Australia, preferably Victoria haha

  3. The fact that they did that to a HUSS Pirate still offends me!

  4. Quick visit to AW, this afternoon. It was humid with temperatures in the mid 30s. One worker reckoned there was about 3500 people at the park. Noticed some extra lime green pipes sticking up out of the ground between Kraken and the old Bounty’s Revenge. There’s a big of litter in the old circus site, but there could be some white markers towards the left of the area, just down from Bounty’s.

  5. TRP's Robb Alvey has fucked up with many many things in the past before. But @auspicious is talking about PCL in their above comment.

  8. The entire video is a tantrum. Like if you’re annoyed just leave and do nothing. Having a little FB rant is definitely throwing a tantrum.

  9. Agreed! Ranger would look fantastic at Funfields or something, and if a park already has a HUSS ride they know what theyre in for.

  10. Top Snooping iwerks. I’m guessing there’s nothing yet at the top of the hill. Could this be the start of Mi4?

  11. Will not get an argument from me there. 100% agree. Yeah......nah. At the risk of going on ad nauseum, please see my other posts on this. IF you think this is a violent sudden burst of ill temper, then I don't think you have ever been exposed to one............. Please tell me how else they were expected to communicate to their audience that their plans had turned to shit- for what ever the reason? Seems reasonable to do a video for everyone to explain, no ,matter what frustration or saltiness seeped into it..........

  13. The video existing in the first place is the tantrum. Standing out front with the front entrance deliberately behind him right after it happened isnt "restrained commentary" about why you wont be reviewing it because they conveniently forgot to do a video to tell people that their planned Adventure park visit was also cancelled. Its having a whinge trying to throw shade at them because you didn't get your way. Its absolutely a sudden burst of ill temper. What literally happened is they showed up and started setting up commercial filming equipment without permission and were told not to. They were entirely in the wrong. If they got caught doing the same thing at Movieworld or Dreamworld theyd also get asked to stop.

  14. Well they sure as hell weren't pushing it as "Sky Voyager: opening eventually" when it was first announced. It was originally communicated and then marketed as opening on boxing day or around boxing day. Only for nothing to happen and them change the campaign to "Coming this summer" instead

  15. Average at best compared to other parks. The park with the mouse knows how to do merchandise properly. Notable mentions to Cedar Fair parks for their range of park/ride specific merchandise and even going as far to have t-shirts celebrating former attractions.

  17. It was a throwaway comment mate. Not sure what everyone’s definition of a tantrum is but dictionary.com gives it as thus: “a violent demonstration of rage or frustration; a sudden burst of ill temper.” This video, whilst certainly exhibiting elements of frustration, saltiness and disappointment was merely a platform for informing their viewers of their planned trip review having gone awry. Now we can all comment on their reasons for being rejected and their reactions to this but let’s call this video for what it is. A video, explaining the reasons of why a planned trip review didn’t happen with a very restrained commentary of what happened in my opinion, doesn’t constitute a full blown tantrum in the very definition and meaning of the word. A tantrum it simply isn’t. And as I have stated before, I bear no great love for Parkchat live or even the presenter Ash.

  18. Another visit to Outback Splash, today. It was 30 degree weather with moderate crowds enjoying a splash on the slides. The large inflatable slide has been moved from the back right of the water playgrounds to the back left. It seems that the ground works are going in close to the previous position, close to the work sheds nearby. The most surprising news is that the emus have moved in with the kangaroos and the whole back half of their paddock has gone. It has been expanded to include more of the pine tree area near the hedge maze. It seems they’re getting ready for the construction of their brand new entrance way. Despite its very Aussie theming, I think it will make the place feel more like a theme park. Exciting times...

  19. I dunno that last line of 'I guess they don't care about us' is pretty sulky/Tantrum like to me. I think if you're only going to a park to get content you're not really an enthusiast.

  20. So yeah, “Dreamworld had all of their marketing pushing it for Boxing Day“ is far from the truth. It was just amplified by us enthusiasts. But I can’t deny that they did partially say it was opening Boxing Day.
