  1. Well, it was only a matter of time - since they did away with the Young Einstein Gravity House - they'd have only had so much supply left...
  2. What makes you think this is a democracy? I'd always considered this to be a dictatorship. And I for one welcome our Alien Overlords - @Richard, @djrappa, @joz, @Slick, @Flea and so on...
  3. Can we see a series on the toilets of Disney?
  4. That's why Space Probe was so awesome - despite the countdown (when it worked) it rarely dropped on 0.
  5. I enjoyed X2, but given the insanely stupid operations at that park, I only got to ride once, whereas I did several laps on Tatsu at various times throughout the day. X2 felt jittery - the motions between elements weren't as smooth as I would have liked given the way the "third rail" is supposed to work. I enjoyed it - i don't insist on a 'smooth' ride just because its steel (I don't get the hate for HWSW for instance), but thats my only picking point on X. I'd still prefer tatsu however.
  6. Phantom is definitively purple. the track colour has been called lots of things, but purple isn't one of them.
  7. Maintaining site info on two domains, rather than on one isn't really that big of a difference though. (The same information is there still, just on one domain). Most advertising and marketing already incorporated both parks anyway - so the only thing that has really changed is the brand.
  8. I couldn't believe i'd gotten this far into the thread and nobody (especially @Reanimated35 who had replied) had mentioned anything about Tatsu. Story of your life push. Reading through the thread, i thought about quite a few, and Tatsu reached the top of the list pretty quickly for me. Space Mountain will always be a favourite for me - combination of the ride itself, the music, the indoor theming etc, and I know many don't consider it to be a 'great' ride but it just does it for me - but if i were to eliminate highly themed indoor coasters (USS The Mummy also rates a mention), then Tatsu would probably come out on top for me.
  9. 3 new rides... 15-20 years... Sending profits overseas to support other ventures... Is someone talking about Wonderland?
  10. ^word used to convey the role the person was playing for the purposes of the recorded media. Not intended to indicate that they were a person actively working in that profession. there is no energy, no engagement. they are boring as batshit. On the one hand, involving actual staff in the video gives it realism. On the other - if thats the best they've got - they should be looking elsewhere.
  11. the intention behind the video is a great one. the voiceover actor isn't suited, and sounds like they're doing it in their office, and trying not to disturb their neighbour whilst doing it. voice actors need more range to engage a viewer. she sounds like she's tripping on diazepam. they should get that guy that does the e-serve ad. it'd be so obnoxious the news networks would be bound to sit up and take notice!
  12. Disney fans will recognise my choice of words. The more I read over the last few posts, the more I wish someone would create a coaster element called a Gullywhumper.
  13. You found it... and yet you said: So, you tried to fool people. You got caught. Now you can either stop the charade, and admit that you were bullshitting, and then we can all move on and forget about it, or you can continue to insist that you 'found it' despite already saying you 'saw it on the RCDB website', which we've already proven to be incorrect because Duane (you know, the guy who created RCDB) never designed it to convert metric to imperial at more than one decimal place, in which case, you're going to need this:
  14. Bah. The twisty piece that connects to the straighty piece is being installed this afternoon inbetween the whoosh-wow and the gullywhumper.
  15. I make of that that your phone screen requires serious colour calibration!
  16. Original Ad: And from LINK The ride's slogan, Tearing into Dreamworld was advertised on the construction fences which surrounded the attraction.[6] It was also advertised on several bus stops across the Gold Coast. So two things there - firstly, Movie World isn't the only one to have gone vertical prior to announcement... Secondly - no mention of a raptor anywhere - just 'the claw is tearing into dreamworld' https://www.parkz.com.au/article/2004/09/20/28-Dreamworld_welcomes_The_Claw.html Then there's 2004 Parkz articles - with no mention of 'Raptor' anywhere in it - which unfortunately is as close as you'll get to proof - my thoughts here is that the absence is the proof - had the 'raptor' concept been 'out there' at the time it was launched, I'm fairly certain its a detail @Richard would have included in his articles... https://www.parkz.com.au/article/2004/09/17/164-The_Claw_Tears_Into_Dreamworld.html https://www.parkz.com.au/article/2004/07/22/24-Dreamworlds_new_attraction_is_made_official.html https://www.parkz.com.au/article/2004/07/22/162-The_Claw_is_Tearing_Into_Dreamworld.html Perhaps the raptor concept was a short lived idea by a marketing douche who (wrongly) figured thats what the red claws on the end of the pylons are. (they aren't even close).
  17. Now they have a TV screen to play the add on... it will be... #ChickenOrTheEgg
  18. I would presume that the balls simply have an RFID chip with a unique ID built into them, and probably near field or beam technology to pick up the RFID position on the field. As far as I knew, it wasn't just the targets capable of registering the ball location, but anywhere within the range - so the entire grounds will have some form of detection equipment to identify exactly which ball went where. ...and then I googled: And.... then this: I can't seem to find a date on the article, but it looks as though they're converting to UHF RFID detectors instead of LF: http://www.rfidjournal.com/articles/view?9083/2
