Motocoaster vs. Jet Rescue: What's better & Who's right?

And to think we could've almost had a Vekoma Motocoaster, which is infinitely better in every way shape and form.- 43 replies

Let's not get too carried away there, sarge - Superman Escape is still Australia's best coaster by a country mile, followed by Abyss. -

Seconded. Jet Rescue & Kawasemi are two of my favourites and both are neither the tallest or fastest. What they both have above all else is tiny lap bars which the ride then tries to violently pry you from. Good times. -
Never realised that road was called WhiteWater Way before. Not sure what's cornier, that or Village Way?

I'd imagine priority one right now is Lego Store and getting through the holidays. -
Two things. One. This news story is crap from start to finish. If you think there's a problem with news reporting in the world, be it about small or major issues, educate those who share journalism with a clear bias. Two. The irony. One second Channel 7 is running stories on dolphins and how good our parks are, the next second they're running stories that would cost VRTP huge sums of money in bad PR and yet by comparison, portals like Parkz that are filled to the brim with brand loyalists posting feedback on what the park does in a way that's not even remotely innocuous (because ultimately we want to see the parks succeed because we care so very much) and we're still collectively branded as a bad thing.

....Yeah. Anyway...... I've thrown up my thoughts on Carnivale now. It took a few days to gather my thoughts into something coherent. For the most part, it is indeed a lovely event & I do like it at Sea World. It's by no means perfect, if Dreamworld had all its rides open i'm not sure it'd stack up against Dreamworld's Fire Machine, additional shows & extended trade given that Dreamworld are including it in the entry price. I also didn't understand why the Monorail wasn't open. From what I heard they were giving passes to resort guests for free (which is awesome and if it's the case marketing should be yelling this loudly to sell more rooms) so it was a head scratcher not to see the Monorail gunning through the Plaza. Keeping this in mind, it's still a good bit of fun, it's a good start to what I hope only grows and gets bigger and better, and there's more then enough to taste and see without having to step foot on rides to fill the night up.

Not a fan? I really enjoyed Abyss and Takabisha. They're like Hyundai, great bang for even if they're still not a Mack Hypercoaster.

I think @joz has a ripper of an idea with putting a Main Event inside the old Ampitheatre. For many reasons it makes sense, and it's far enough away from the rest of the park that it would still be its own distinctive sports bar/laser tag/bowling/panic room business. I think it's safe to say that this year no matter what Dreamworld build, it's not going to compete (at least in terms of thrills) with what Movie World's building. I'd love to see the land all the way from Blue Lagoon out to Buzzsaw either cleared out or cleaned up. I'd imagine all that land that sits infront of Giant Drop through to Buzzsaw would be great for a large Gold Rush stage, a new Gold Rush Food & Bev building and plenty of open space under the gum leaves. As for rides, here's my picks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHxqNFut2d8 Intamin Water Coaster - you'll get wet, it's a worthy successor to River Rapids, and it has many marketable assets over Storm (the tilting elevator, two splashdowns etc.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qTyfn10c2c Zampera Vertical Swing - great family ride, i've seen variants pop up everywhere recently overseas. Not over the top, not too thrilling either. Great filler for a space near the old Chairlift building. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLByOaGachU Gerstlauer Euro Fighter - They'd be crazy not to get one of these in their near future. They need, need, need, need, need an actually decent roller-coaster worth queueing up for, because up against Superman Escape and what they're building their roller-coaster offerings aren't in the same league. A marketable strength could be one like Smiler in Alton Towers that has a crazy amount of inversions i.e. "most inversions in Australia."

I have a philosophy about articulated discourse with people who don't wish to have a healthy conversation that I learnt from an ex-girlfriend, and that is to simply walk away and not waste my time, because i've learnt that for folks who lack the ability to cognitively reason with facts think that a good rebuttal is just someone back-peddling, which in turn re-inforces their own dribble. In your case however @SunshineTom, I will make an exception to walking away from said dribble. In another thread, I spent a great deal of my time absolutely destroying your opinion regarding Tiger Island with tiger conservation facts supported by dozens of independently peer researched studies, and I gave you all the links and access you would need to be enlightened that clearly showed your opinion was at best, complete rubbish. Instead, you chose to ignore what I wrote (which was written specifically for you, just FYI) and peddled some other crap with another Parkz member. Now, again, i've done the same thing in the article I wrote over at OurWorlds. I literally have photos that I took with my own two hands that debunk the sensationalist, sky is falling spam that you and Murdoch seem to get their rocks off on. Multiple people here and even people on the NewsCorp portals have made comments that the journo in question was wrong. In fact, dozens of people, both from the park and abroad have reached out to me over night and continued to support what I wrote and corroborate further recollections and encounters of the park doing well in its current state. So having said all this, and keeping in mind my exception, I say to you, @SunshineTom, eat a bag of dicks. I'm not one to almost ever get emotional or fired up on these forums (atleast not in the past few years) but you my fellow enthusiast are an ignoramus of the highest calibre, the kind who I wrote about, actually. The kind who throws facts and figures in the wind and thinks that Trump will be a great president because "he thinks with his feelings and emotions." I don't speak on the behalf of anyone but myself, but the vibe I continue to get is that you are not welcome here because your biggest contribution to date is senseless negativity. I always welcome critical opinions and thinking, and no one is saying that is not welcome here. In fact, just recently I wrote about the Ekka ride that is now Scooby Doo in another thread in an openly critical way, which didn't seem to land too well with the folks at Movie World. And that sucks, because I didn't bang my drum like you did and shout "MOVIE WOLD IZ DOOMD, THSI IS THE STAT EVRYN," actually, I formed an idea and explained why I reached that conclusion, what I'd do to change that situation etc. etc. and yet, my logical deduction is tossed out the window because everyday parks, outsiders and everyone in between continues to put people like yourself in the same camp as people like me (enthusiasts as a whole), and as a result, to be frank, your crap ruins it for everyone. *drops mic* -

I know lots. But fear mongering gets us no where. Contrary to popular belief, the park's actually been doing solid numbers. Not peak season numbers, nor did anyone nor should anyone expect those kinds of numbers, particularly when over half of the major thrill rides are closed. However, the last time I went, this is what the park looked like... But you're right, doom & gloom sell much more adspace then positive happy stories do. -

Just noticed this on the Dreamworld YouTube page: -
For those, curious, it's on Movie World's Facebook page (yet strangely it's not on their YouTube page?) Bloody great little TVC. End shot where the hero female breaks the fourth wall is super cringeworthy, but sans that tiny detail, I do really dig the look and feel of it all.

For those who haven't seen The Fire Machine yet, I have it on good authority you'll see some pretty decent vision of it pretty soon. In the interim, here's a few shots I took recently to give you an idea of what to expect. For what it's worth, I think the show is great. It might not be technically finessed as say AOS, but as far as nightly crowd pleasers go, it has everything going for it. It's, big, loud, and a great watch to finish the day on a high with. I'd love to see it become a regular annual staple for the park and continue to build it in new and interesting ways (kind of like Sydney Vivid). -
Maybe that's what happened to one of the buggies?
