Future dreamworld plans?

I think Movieworld include special events in their attendance reports - they do a lot more than Dreamworld and I think this is a big reason why attendance is higher.

What about Screamworld and WhiteWater World at night? They're opening the park till late every Friday and Sunday this holiday period. I'd say they're trying just as hard to compete head on but doesn't get the same reception because it's not as good.

I think the reason why Screamworld doesn't get as much attention as other events like Fright Nights or White Christmas is really due to the lack of "original content". The main reason why people go to Fright Nights and White Christmas is for the unique experiences, such as the Mazes and the Christmas Parade. Screamworld, on the other hand, is just Dreamworld after 5; not the exciting, is it?

If DW wanted to compete with these events, they would add more "exclusive content" and ramp up the advertising, and its obvious that they don't want to compete due to the lack of this.

Why is Movie World's attendance higher? VIP passes. They're really cheap and it gives you unlimited entry to Sea World, Movie World and Wet 'n' Wild. Honestly, look it up if you don't believe me. Seriously though people may think Dreamworld is the best park (and I reckon they do) but most people think the other 3 combined are better than Dreamworld, and White Water World hardly comes into it.

You're right, IF Dreamworld wanted to compete. Screamworld isn't designed to compete with Fright Nights.

What rhymes and sell better?

"Screamworld"

or

"Dreamworld after dark"

A "scream" doesn't have to be as a result of seeing someone in a horror costume.

edit-

Honestly, look it up if you don't believe me.

LOL! That's a good one! You expect that with the types of threads started recently on here that people are actually capable of looking things up for themselves?

I think without trying to contextually pick apart what I was saying the point I was making was that both venues are trying to offer additional non 10-5 events to add value to tickets and drive sales. One's doing a great job at it, one's doing an okay job that could be expanded on.

I'm not saying Screamworld should be a Halloween event, I was just pointing out on of the reasons as to why Screamworld is not as popular as other theme park events, such as Fright Nights. It obvious that Dreamworld does give a flying fudge about their special events, just look at all the advertising for them.

If they wanted to make screamworld REALLY popular - they should do it how Wonderland did it - not have a separate 'gate'...

don't close at 5pm and open at 5:30... just stay open. It wasn't that hard for Wonderland to run $5 after 5... (which naturally would be more expensive these days) but let your day visitors stay if they want to - chances are a lot of them will leave, but a cheaper 'after 5' ticket would make up for it.

Rather than trying to make your money at the gate so much - be thankful for getting more through the door for a lower fee, and then upsell with flashy crap.

Do some research and have a fireworks laser show. Sell those weird 'starburst' 3d glasses that make one light turn into 100. charge $5... make a mint.

I remember Wonderland doing a Michael Jackson 'tribute' style show at lakeside to celebrate the release of the album 'History' (might have been dangerous but i think i was too young for that). They had dancers on stage, and the concessions were queued up 12 deep for popcorn, drinks and other novelties. They did a fireworks show each night over behind the demon and it was popular as all hell - you couldn't move.

I don't know what 'trading hours' restrictions the park has - but right now - the best thing Dreamworld could do is offer a product that Movie World can't - extended night-time trading with all rides open, for a discounted admission after 5pm.

I sometimes finish work in Brisbane at 2-3 in the afternoon. I often want to take a trip down to the park for the afternoon - the fact that they close at 5pm means thats pretty pointless... but if they were charging $20 after 5pm (until say - 10pm) i'm there. This would drive attendance, and would bring in more direct and indirect income which in turn would improve the bottom line and let them install something more than just 'filler'.

I think a cheap late entry price is unlikely since they'd rather you just purchased a VIP pass. Otherwise though I totally agree, keeping the parks open late without charging an extra ticket price would be awesome.

I disagree - Night WhiteWaterWorld is $25 for 3.5 hours as a separately ticketed event... and dare I say - it appears to be popular enough to continue for the summer season.

Although there is no pricing for the 2014 Screamworld events, last year's tickets started from $29.99 (group of 4, booked online).

Given the parks have single day tickets for up to $89.99 (VRTP), a cheap 'limited hours' after dark ticket would probably sell reasonably well. Increase the cost of the world pass to compensate for the added benefits of repeated night-time access (or make night time access for world pass holders $5 or something ridiculously cheap) and you're set... You're not really losing anything to the world pass holders (and guarantee you'll capture a lot of them with the 'dinner' market) but you're also gaining visitors that may want to 'check out' the park but don't have the time (or the bank balance) to visit during the day.... it's like 'Dreamworld Lite' - the sampler.

I might sound stupid, but what if dreamworld had a hotel next to white water world what would be your opinion. My opinion, no

???

What if Dreamworld built an 18 story tall squirrel statue? What if they paint the entire park and every ride pink and re-name it Princessworld?

Why put forward a suggestion/question and then say you don't agree with your own idea?

Also, the Coomera Motel is already next to Dreamworld, and you couldnt really improve on that now could you...

There's a million things that you could do that, with a bit of money, would turn that piece of land into a landmark in itself like when it first opened. Serious beatufication, after-hours shows and events, resort style accommodation, casino even. But there is the issue, Ardent, for their own reasons, don't want to spend the money. So the park just is what it is right now.

A casino is implausible given the situation with available licences in qld and the fact that the redevelopment of crown is Brisbane and the cruise ship proposal, each worth billions, will take the available licences over anything DW could or would ever develop even if Ardent were pouring money in. Same goes for resort accommodation. Barring the teem parks, there is no tourist like attractions to warrant it. It's 20mins from hundreds of hotels and resorts in surfers. The only thing that can return DW to its glory days would be a strategic capital investment plan delivering a number of world class attractions or rides over a period of 3-5 years, coupled with the expansion of WWW to rival WnW in terms of offerings. It's doesn't need glitzy events that draw 10,000 people for a few nights a year (Ala fright nights), it needs to deliver on its day to day operations. In saying all that, I really enjoy a day out at DW with the family, just think they could do a whole lot more

You're right. Why stay at Walt Disney World or at a Tokyo Disneyland Resort when I can stay somewhere 20 minutes away? /sarcasm

Last time I checked the government were looking at offering another gambling license out. Could you imagine a Universal style citywalk with Crown-style hotels and casinos? It'd put the place well and truly on the map. We're both making the same point here in essence, which is they need to actually spend money to make more money. It certainly doesn't need to be resort-level money, ultimately it comes down to this:

Dreamworld. You're an okay park. Seriously, you're actually alright. But everyone remembers you as something better then what is right now. You're going to keep making money as is, which is fine, but if you want to make a crapload, you're going to have to do what everyone else does and spend more money on quality things that matter.

Guys about the hotel, I want YOUR opinion, not mine

Also another idea, I think Dreamworld should get a new land themed to GTA V probably they should call it The City of Los Santos and have a launched coaster and some shops and other rides. Again, I want YOUR opinion. My opinion, yes and no. Yes because it would be a great land since the world of GTA V is incredibly open. No, because of younger visitors, like they might play GTA and go and get in trouble.

So have YOUR say on this

This is an even worse idea than gouging your own eyes out with a straw.

What good would an area of a FAMILY park be themed to an R18+ video game? Grow up.

As long as someone aged 18+ purchases the tickets, and the area is not open to the public, then I think it's absolutely fine and legal.

So you're suggesting that the park spend millions of dollars to invest in a new coaster, then market it to 18+ guests and exclude probably around half of their target market?

Or when you say "not open to the public" are you suggesting they invest millions of dollars on a new ride, then not open it to the public and instead just hire it out for special events??! WTF.

I refer you back to my previous statement, this is an even worse idea than gouging your own eyes out with a straw.
