Can you explain that further? When I was there in August, Batwing would launch anywhere between before the countdown started, right down to 2. Never got to 0. Could it be to do with the weight of everyone onboard? Less weight the earlier the launch?

It's like the same as getting a rollback on a launch coaster. A mix of the PLC timing and the weight of the launches. Since the audio isn't a necessary function required to operate the ride, it's often out of time of just not working at all

In regards to Batwing, someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I remember there were smoke coming out front underneath riders during the count down? When did this stop?

I think only a few years in after opening. Turns out spraying the base of a steel structure with water everyday had some negative effects. Who knew!

Yeah it was a mist, rather than smoke. It was a really cool effect though.

And I imagine it was the same reason why they had to remove Supermans too. Both were such simple effects, but really added to the experience.

They also had the same for Surfrider and possibly Jet Rescue too. I think VRTP went through a mist stage

I thought supermans was a fog initially before switching to a cheaper mist before removing it? I could be wrong though. 2005 was a long time ago.

Iirc Jet Rescue had mist after the tunnel that houses the 2nd launch.

I remember JR still having the mist in that spot as late as 2013. Same for Surfrider when i was last at WnW around the same time. Also, if memory serves me correct Superman's effects were steam and not mist, and were removed as a safety issue, completely unrelated to batwing.
