Intamin would have the final say on the size and weight of anything attached to the structure. They would have designed specific mounting points with appropriate specs considering things like forces from wind, clearances around the motor/catwalk for maintenance. Tigeren's is around the same size (possibly a little bit bigger), but it might just be a bit less flat and has matching paint on the structure to make it feel bigger. I think most people are going to be looking at the gondola though, and the lighting on that looks great.

You want barriers to be contrasting colours to the walls, for people who are vision impaired @Brad2912 but I do agree the colour of choice takes away from the experience.

Dude, all I said is "it's a headache" I'm not for or against the change of use DW have applied for and I haven't set my tent up on either side of the fence. All I was doing was explaining why it's a headache and why what Westfield did 7 years ago sets no precedent of what you can do today. -
Agree Brad - after all the care taken to craft 'bamboo' poles this just feels out of place. Perhaps they could wrap the corners in a hemp rope to soften the look, or paint the poles a mottled pattern to blend into the temple more?

Care of DW Golden Years FB. queue rails have been installed in JR to separate the single rider/ride express queue from the general standby queue. whilst it’s good to have these separated (asking to push through/pass people when you had an express pass wasnt exactly great and usually copped you some scorned looks like you were queue jumping), because they are obviously a post-design change, they look pretty horrible to me and wreck what was theme wise a fantastic queue. maybe a more neutral colour or something more akin to the walls would have worked better than what they went with

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Overhaul
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Spotty's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Oh, sorry - i'll speak slower for you. Too many people in the park, not enough rides operating, not enough rides operating at full capacity, not enough staff to operate the rides effectively, poor operations practices that negatively impact throughput, lack of care and attention to non critical maintenance such as theming, continued removal of guest accessible areas and attractions only to take that space over by more and more back of house areas. And all this despite jacking up their prices and removing perks from loyal long-time premium passholders. The company has shown utter contempt for guests. At one point their online reviews tanked so hard they disabled the ones they had control over. They responded to guest complaints about their poor experience by telling them they should have checked the website before visiting on a day where the park was offering half their usual experience while still charging full price. They have ridden for a long time on the coat tails of their former reputation - and despite tanking it, people are still clamouring to hand over their money. I've been saying this for literally years - if people want them to change, they need to vote with their wallets. My point is - the Malibu Stacey effect is too strong. I am interested to see the reviews of the new Scoob - but I won't be rushing out to buy a pass or visit. As Skeet mentioned, if the stunt show proves to be more akin to the MW of old, it might tip the scales to encourage me to return and see what else they've improved. I think the park can be worth the price they're asking (and probably more) but they have to run it putting the guest experience first.- 353 replies

I don't care about overlays, or law changes - I care about the fact that people will scream about the loss of koala habitat while living in a home that only exists because their builder demolished koala habitat. A development proposal like this preserves a lot more trees than Metricon, or Westfield.

King Claw - Larger Replacement Intamin Gyro Swing for Dreamworld

I got to see this beast in action tonight. The gondola is now spinning and they were testing a spotlight to light the face up more which looked great. I just wish the face was a lot bigger. https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSDknAFA2/ -

No, not quite… Don’t get caught up in the media spin. Firstly, it was a research lab for uni students, not a Koala Hospital. And DW didn’t just spend the money elsewhere. COVID hit, the park shut, the lab project on hold. DW asked if they could use the $2M elsewhere amongst more funding (for other obvious reasons), the Government said yes.
-
Wouldn’t be the first time DW the Koalas dirty. Didn’t the government give them money for a save the koala hospital but ended up using the funds towards Steel Taipan?
-
I’m not sure what your point is in this topic. Are you exciting/supportive of Scooby returning along with the amount of other people commenting on MW’s recent post or just hating because it’s Village?

@DaptoFunlandGuy The Government have only been adding Koala overlays on Gold Coast land in the last few years. 5 years ago you would hardly see one but now, if it has a couple of trees, the Government are putting environment and Koala overlays on the property. I had 3 projects in the last 2 years go belly up because of trees. Building approvals and development approvals only last a few year because the laws are always changing. Just because your neighbor, Joe Blow built something 10 years ago doesn't mean you can build the same thing today. -
100% Everyone wants to save the koalas, unless the koala's were living where their house was built, on the roads accessing their homes, or the shopping centres where they conveniently go shopping. the gold coast is full of convenient conservationalists

Sounds like a storm in a teacup. Koala habitats are developed all the time. I've no doubt half the land making up Coomera today including both the westfield \ costco \ hospital development as well as the myriad of housing estates had koala risk also. By the sounds of the article they have considered the habitat risk and provided remediation \ controls for it. Whether that's enough is up to the powers that be to decide. It sounds to me like some councillors \ NIMBYs didn't like that the application was taken out of council hands and into state gov hands, and someone has pointed out to GCB the size of the koala habitat being taken by the development. I'm confident that the NIMBYs opposed to the application probably live in a local area that was itself a koala habitat until they built their home on it. #hypocrite
