  1. Same goes for having a campaign that is all about having a campaign. VRTP are transparently emulating the Thredbo ads you see at Event cinemas but fall flat along the way — turns out you can’t fake heart. Dreamworld meanwhile realise they can’t focus on substantive in-park experiences because they’ve removed most of them, so they’re going all gimmicks and as a result not actually saying anything at all. It’s all a bit self-congratulatory and on the nose from both companies. Here’s one I prepared earlier. Mostly still applies for both brands. https://www.parkz.com.au/article/2017/04/27/487-VRTP_needs_to_fundamentally_rethink_their_message_and_marketing.html

  2. The Ronald McDonald learning program is a great program aimed at helping kids affected by illnesses 'catch up' on the learning they've missed by not being able to go to school. its a great cause. ...but its still run by a fucking clown. Also in the news, the GC Titans change every player number to '9'. ...because now every player is a rake.

  3. I guess its no secret by now that someone here works for Dreamworld. (And the Magician's post, and recent SkyVoyager video update discussions kind of makes that clear, so this isn't an attempt at doxxing), but it just made me laugh about how 'pro VRTP' Parkz was accused to be just a few years ago, and now the positive news stories and other discussions just amuses me... As for Ocean Parade, before Dreamworld builds anything else in OP, they need to balance the park out with attractions a little more spread out, and fix up some of the mess, and hodge podge that exists both in OP and elsewhere. OP needs a better anchor attraction than HWSW, but i'm not necessarily calling for removal of HWSW either. Its really hard to say what DW needs as there's a lot of mismanagement, empty holes left from previously removed rides that haven't been adequately filled, and a lot of rides poorly placed that are not financially viable to relocate to fix the problem, meaning DW is stuck with that placement for quite some time.

  4. Why exactly? His comments on this issue are correct and he is standing up for his Park, what’s your issue?

  5. So, the park became more wet, and more wild, and they closed it? what a business model. Whilst the activists are ridiculous, their claims off base, and their methods inappropriate, and whilst the management of the park should absolutely stand up for the park and call the activists for what they are, the guy himself is, still a clown.

  6. I've thought that for a while honestly. Quite a few of WnW's rides are getting on in the years, and it's very spread out with lots of empty spaces. I feel WWW overall just flows better, and the overall guest experience is better, down to locker placement and having the conveyors for the cloverleaf tubes (those are NOT fun to carry when a huge gust of wind hits!) I also feel that almost every ride they have is a one up on WnW (Tornado, Body Slides, Racer etc) except for the AquaLoop which is superior. I just think honestly WWW needs a Lazy River and maybe a Mammoth Falls style ride and it would crap over WnW even more than it does now. Biggest is not always the best.

  7. It is just a sad, sad time for a theme park when so much discussion is devoted to a new 'seating' area and the map is even being updated to incorporate it. You can sit anywhere. Nobody goes to a theme park to sit. It is NOT an attraction. I was walking through a shopping centre the other day and saw a large vacant shopfront that had been filled with a temporary albeit nice looking kids play area. It looked identical to DW's seating area. This was a temporary empty shop filler in a Westfield. The other is a permanent addition in a theme park. So sad

  9. The Facebook share was an odd move I will say. But I think taking a swipe back at them lumping our park in with all the dodgy ones is fair game. Even the idiot on the story suggested the billboards were fine because the photo was from our park. Yet the message was totally suggestive and false. As for calling a guy a clown ‘just cause’, well that’s foolish.

  10. See to me it would make more sense to go with a Movie World logo this year and a Sea World one next year. Wet 'n' Wild won't benifit from having their logo out during winter and it's not like the titans are going to threaten the finals at all. As for theit other brands, Paradise Country is unremarkable AF, AOS maybe if they played a game out in the sticks as part of a community round. Top Golf could also be a good one to advertise, maybe an instadium thing would work better there - half off an hours bay hire if you show them your ticket to a Titans game, free hour's bay hire if they happened to win. These are the brands people will recognise and be worth promoting, Village Roadshow Theme Parks means nothing to most people, and may as well include Dreamworld as far as the casual Sydney public are concerned. Also have you noticed that KFC sponsor sport and not Collins Food Group? Village Roadshow Theme Parks haven't noticed.

  13. I won't critique the suit - a park executive should be dressed appropriately, especially when fronting the media. The glasses I will agree with - when you're spruiking a sincere message, you need to let people see your eyes. Too many similarities with Salim Mehajer, too insincere.

  15. *Article takes stab at VRTP by prominently displaying the Tas Devils, downplaying the arrivals at Paradise Country.

  17. I have to say about 18months ago I just shifted from WWW to WNW mainly because my son hit 6 yrs old and was too big for wiggle bay, and I thought wet n wild jnr would be a better fit. He’s since grown in his thrill level whilst there to do Mammoth, Rapids and Constrictor. 3 weeks we went back to WWW for the first time in well over a year and to be honest i think it’s now a clear winner. It’s better laid out, has a larger variety of rides that I think are stronger or unique offerings. Rapids is currently the most missed option, but will be adequately replaced by Fully6. The Green Room is superior to Tornado simply by not having to carry the bloody tubes, Hydro is unique, as is The Rip. Oh, and it’s a shit load quieter even in peak times. We were there today and the max wait was on hydrocoaster at about 15mins Only the late opening and dive in movies will take me back to WnW in the near future

  19. Yep - style, colour scheme, overall look and feel. And just filling an empty void that was designed to have something else in it.
