  1. I know some the students who put that document together (that was shared by @Rydah Hi) and they said at the time they received the plan, they were told it was pretty much exactly what was going to be constructed (in regards to pathways and some of the details shown). Some thematic elements aren't shown due to their scale. The archway we've seen at entrance will also be around the Trident/Leviathan area. There is a viewing deck at the left area of Leviathan, and the entrance path and queue area will snake around the coaster. It is possible that the area for Trident will have some preparation, but if the ride is delayed further, we won't be expecting too much activity. This is my speculation, but maybe the area of land to the right of Leviathan is for a possible area expansion (maybe a 4th attraction) in the future.

  2. ^That was sorely needed. I just hope it stands up to the traffic - Especially since that's a vehicle thoroughfare too.

  3. Not sure why you think anything I said is improbable @Rydah Hi - All of the GC parks do have an issue with upkeep - the newest shiniest thing gets the attention, while last year's news tends to get neglected - And this is evidenced by the state of numerous coasters and slides prior to the repainting works that kicked off late last year - they all weren't suddenly looking tired overnight - they were all slowly tiring over many years.

  4. I don't understand their lists because they choose rides that aren't even the most missed. Where's Eureka Mountain, LTRR, TOT, Wipeout, Batman Adventure? Why is the Magic Mountain chairlift in there but not the SW one?

  5. I am referring of the “per area of a venue” - not just total venue which was the initial plan for stage 2. So a pub or a cinema that has separate rooms, can have 20 per room now which was an amendment to the original plan.

  6. Also, Sea Crete redone the Concrete in the area.

  8. the key is going to be how it handles the traffic it will get in the future - how quickly it gets destroyed and whether Sea World will have the attention to detail for upkeep, maintenance and eventual respraying. Hopefully its a commercial product designed for large traffic and not designed for suburban residential poolsides...Ocean Parade has been resurfaced at least three times since Claw.

  9. That’s a pretty good touch, a lot better than just plain white concrete

  11. Great to see the operators are working together to get plans in place - they may be competitors but inevitably people who visit one visit the other so it’s in both operators best interests to see them all re-open Coronavirus Gold Coast: Theme parks make case for reopening earlier Pressure is mounting on the state government to allow theme parks reopen earlier, with a key meeting on the issue taking place this afternoon. PRESSURE is mounting on the State Government to consider allowing the Gold Coast’s theme parks to reopen ahead of Stage 3 of the easing of coronavirus restrictions, with Tourism Minister Kate Jones meeting with the bleeding operators this afternoon. The Bulletin has previously reported that Village Roadshow is burning through $10 to $15 million in monthly costs net of government subsidies during the shutdown. Ms Jones said Village Roadshow and Ardent Leisure had submitted COVID safe plans to the government detailing how they will safely reopen and the plans were currently being assessed by the Chief Health Officer. She said the two big players had worked “collaboratively together” to come up with the “very detailed plans” and that she was meeting with the theme parks’ CEOs this afternoon to discuss them. “They are being assessed, at this stage they are in Stage 3 of the road map but we’re working with them to see if we can open them up in a safe way,” Ms Jones said while visiting a Main Beach cafe this afternoon. “They want to do it quickly but the road map says theme parks are clearly part of Stage 3.” Destination Gold Coast chair Paul Donovan said the biggest market was the drive market and “we need the theme parks open”. He said that the Gold Coast Convention Centre had also put forward a COVID safe reopening plan to the government and “we’re waiting for those to be approved”. “I’m a strong advocate for Queensland’s borders to be reopened when safe and for the theme parks to come online as soon as possible,” he said. Ardent Leisure’s Dreamworld and Village Roadshow’s Gold Coast theme parks, Warner Bros Movie World, Sea World, Wet’n’Wild and Paradise Country, have been shut down since March 23. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/gold-coast/coronavirus-gold-coast-theme-parks-make-case-for-reopening-earlier/news-story/c57eb2cce108d2993fb0aa66f2d3030b

  13. It does look like “Sea Crete” are doing works on Wet n Wild as well as other Village parks. It’s a bit of a shame that not much is happening with Dreamworld during its closure with the exception of supports arriving. .

  15. I'm surprised how much room there is north of Leviathan, when you include the land east of Jet Rescue it's significant.

  16. It's the gullible click bait, as long as they get clicks and idiots paying for their waste of money subscription they have achieved their goal.

  20. Awesome news and obviously very fitting with the Park After Dark too. I wonder if he’ll be performing at the event too. im also looking forward to seeing how they take their other events this year even further too

  21. That screen would be over 10 years old now wouldn’t it? Maybe if they got a deal on the other screens after Dive n Movies happened, they should get another new one to replace the original

  22. I can’t see them changing BuzzSaw and I don’t see the need to either. If they theme Steel Taipan don’t (basically make the station to a similar look of BuzzSaws at the minimum) then it will fit into the area well

  24. I definitely want to, but I’m just waiting for it to be really worth while. Once SV opened and heard the response I was very tempted, but with the announcement of the coaster I thought to wait a bit more until that’s well under way

  25. It was definitely done on a budget. Ride is great and offers one of the best experiences on the coast, but the preshow, queue and station was very poorly brought together

  26. To be fair though as I mentioned earlier, I haven't been in 3 years.

  27. I get your point 😂 But I’ll just list things off the top of my heads anyways WWW park wide refurb (inside and out) Facade repaints on Main Street Giant Drop exterior refurb and additional path to cut out the stairs and ramp Refresh of the path between Tiger Island and ABC Kids Refurb of path between Rocky Hollow and Corroboree The things highlighted about the entrance area. Yes that definitely needs to be fixed (unless it has and hasn’t been noticed). And the train line, I haven’t been on the train in over 4 years, so not sure. But as you suggest, you are correct. There’s quite a bit that hasn’t been resolved that should be, but also, other issues have been resolved

  28. I know some of the things are still yet to be dealt with, but improvements are being made. I will say I haven’t been to the park in 3 years now, so I’m sure there is plenty I’m unaware of across the park, but from pictures that I’ve seen, some (not all, but some) changes been done

  29. Good to see that in 1.5 years, from what I’ve seen, more care is being taken and most of these things have been resolved. While there’s still a way to go, they are on a good track. For now we just have to deal with those empty voids throughout the park until new things are permanently built to replace them

  30. Around that time was probably my favourite time for all the parks. DW peaked early 2000s, MW peaked early 2000s and then just before they installed the roof. WnW after they opened H2O Zone. WWW is too new but I would say it’s peaking now

  31. In that case, those dolphins are now whales. I definitely don’t think the map is anything to go by as it’s been very roughly put together in photoshop/illustrator someone who had little time or hasn’t used the program before

  32. My first visit to the park was in 2000 and my favourite period was 07-08

  33. It’s very crude, but here’s a rough idea on one of the old park maps
    1 point
  34. It started next to the sea lion theatre, went underneath the seating, went straight up the outside of the park (which gave you a view of the Broadwater and some of the backstage stuff). You them wrapped around the outside of the dolphin theatre, underneath the Corkscrew, over the stone bridge, behind the kids stage show theatre, across a pathway where the food court was and back into the station
