The problem is people aren’t even hating on Village. They are hating on one person (god knows why) who’s in leadership there, and then projecting that onto an entire company. What I find more baffling on this is the current COO of VRTP has more passion for the company and the industry than anyone who’s been in that roll for at least 12 years or more. Someone who’s the exact type of person who people say should be in that roll, someone who’s risen through the ranks of the company from entry level, rather than some outside non industry person out of touch with either the country or the industry or both. Ive just no idea why a group of people have taken so much reach to turn a Facebook comment they disagreed with into an entire hatred of an entire company. Yet the rose coloured glasses seem to be out in full force in regards to Ardent who just constantly fail and disappoint. Everyone is entitled to their own misguided opinion. But I take great issue when someone throws an allegation of unsafe practices around which is totally unfounded. As for talk of engineering personnel. Village were smart enough to have one of the most professional and respected people at the top of their maintenance department. He had enough oversight not to let the kind of unchecked ego driven people making decisions that affect guest safety. And that’s the difference between the management of the two companies.4 points

I mean if you think it's smart to have all that pent up demand for entertainment and theme parks to be spent at the competition because you couldn't get your 2 parks open before they opened their 4 then more power to you I guess. If you think it's smart to be left clutching at nothing and having to do a 'We're excited to announce nothing' announcement then that's up to you. If you want to then make up a mitigating factor like them maybe doing maintenance, I'm not going to stop you. But the words of the Iraqi information minister; you are now too far from reality.4 points

Yep, should reopen the same time as Arkham Asylum.4 points

Also worth noting that some of the ride restrictions such as weight and age have been removed from the website. For example, Sky Voyager when it opened had a height limit of 100cm and must be 4 or above, now it’s 100cm, and under 4s and upwards are required to be accompanied by an adult. Claw’s 10 year old age restriction is also removed. This is a fantastic thing that makes some rides more accessible.2 points

Yeah look - not opening when your competition does will really hurt in the short term as people will be able to rely and plan on the fact that the VRTP are open. However, as we've seen from Richard's stats mentioned in articles and posts recently, Dreamworld wasn't doing too well out of peak. It may be a good excuse to keep the park closed during a loss-making season while still supported by Job Keeper, and to reopen in time for the school holiday peaks? Sure, they're behind the VRTP 8 ball, but if they're open in time prior to summer holidays, it shouldn't be a major impact. Although we know many holidaymakers plan their holidays 12 months in advance, those with earlier plans may have cancelled already. Those booked for Xmas this year probably won't have cancelled and those plans would not have been impacted by park closure. Most of their guests during off peak times are pass holders, who have been guaranteed an extension to their expiry by both chains. If DW stays closed a month longer, then the passes will also extend by a month, but in turn, it lets all those who hold passes to both parks off the hook about 'which park do we do first' - let village open, and the wave subside, and then open later, with all those who've already visited and tried VRTP given the opportunity to visit DW, without competing with village for attendance as much as their opening weekend. I don't think it's smart, but there could be some logic to it...2 points

Aww, @Jordan M. I'm sorry you don't believe me and that you couldn't be the person to try and post on behalf of the parks again2 points

Personally, that isn't the case. Maybe its a case of once being too close to the fire and being slightly burnt let us say. Sure. His story makes for a great one. Working up the ranks within a company is hard for anyone to do. He shows loyalty. But I doubt a single person can influence everyone. Everyone is allowed to follow team A or team B. I think the massive issue is the "mudslinging" that occurs because people reckon DW is being "too slow" while others will say "VRTP are reckless". I don't agree with the tactics VRTP used during the downtime with COVID-19. Sure it is just the flue but man. Like smaller parks around Australia (yes not just the GC) have almost gone under during this time bet I reckon no one will bat an eye about it. Sure not liking tactics a company uses seems childish etc but its a personal viewpoint that I stand by. Sometimes it's nice to also go for the underdog. Living in the ivory towers might be great and they might have a great view. But they honestly made the most noise during the whole debacle. It wasn't pretty noise either.1 point

We have a no doxing rule here and I feel a bit weird about name dropping people who don’t choose to come on here. But anyone who knows the theme park circles will know the previous Maintenance Manager for VRTP who only finished up last year. You’d be hard pushed to find anyone who would say a bad word about them.1 point

Unfortunately order numbers were not a thing back in 2015 when I signed up to mine.1 point

Please elaborate on the multiple times? I'm really curious and love to hear your examples. We know of one instance, and that was an issue to do with S&S designing their cars and wheel bogies poorly. Hah I was beaten to it @rappa said exactly what I was thinking.1 point

Please do. I guarantee no one will remove such a post. But it simply won’t be true I can assure you of that. Please don’t let one of your comments be regarding Green Lantern.1 point

Haha can confirm it does as I was just about to add my 3 premier memberships to the app for the family, luckily I still had the confirmation/order email from 2 years ago or I wouldn’t have been able to as you need the order number not the pass number...1 point

That is fantastic for The Claw! My son has been keen for 18 months but hasn’t been able to due to the age restriction!1 point

Sounds more to be Dreamworld hadn't got their shit together/don't have the cash to reopen at present, and were blindsided by a VRTP announcement. Then they've rushed out a PR release implying this is all part of their plan, and then made a (VERY) thinly veiled jab at VRTP implying they are staying closed because they don't want to rush safety. Basically implying that VRTP care less about safety. Let's just not even go there in regards to the irony in Dreamworld suggesting someone else is cavalier when it comes to safety.1 point

Yes DW staff recieved an update email today. Approval has been recieved to operate at 50% capacity however no opening date to be declared just yet so as to 'properly implement' covid-safe measures and 'recommission' rides and attractions. My spec - they cant afford to operate with locals only and are waiting travel restrictions to ease. I personally would prefer they stay closed and play the longgame to try and ensure a future, then open quickly just cause the other guys are.1 point

How does it act exactly? They are excited to announce they don't know when they're opening. How is that even a thing? It comes across like it's an announcement in response to the news today rather than being something they are promoting on their own terms. They are on the back foot, not smart. If this is them on the front foot, they're also not smart. HeIl the media reached out to then and the declined to comment. You know why? Because they had nothing to announce. Obviously this story is going to blow up today and they weren't ready have beeb left behind. Yes they'll get clearer air when they do announce it, but yesterday they weren't even able to say 'We're in the final stages of finalising our reopening date for Dreamworld, however we are excited to announce Sky Point will be reopening on..' Also according to the link posted yesterday, weren't the staff told first at Village what was going on? Isn't there communication to staff out there explaining the various situations to them? Also, someone from Ardent has been reading from the Village book of bland Corperate speak, having announced a **World Class** Covid safe plan1 point

I simply don’t believe that you found it on Reddit, true the post could have been removed but I checked r/Australia, r/Brisbane and r/GoldCoast after your post and nothing. Damn, going to have to redo the ad1 point

Have updated the original post based on the VRTP update found here (thanks to @themagician for pointing that out).1 point

@Bikash Randhawa has confirmed that Vortex is not yet ready as it still needs to be commissioned by engineers from overseas. Whilst it was posted in a private group he gave me permission to share it publicly.1 point

Hi all! Just a heads up this isn't a lighting support forum. In the interests of fairness to all involved, we have removed the original comment that inspired the tech support.0 points

First question. Well, it is fairly obvious. They have announced when they will be reopening. Before the September holidays in a staged re-opening. I gather people are upset because they didn't yet give an exact date. They have given an idea. So its better than nothing else. It is not like they are chucking a tantrum. It seems to me like DW management understand workers health and safety along with guest is more important. Does anyone also know how VRTP has been losing 15 million a month?. Is that just the GC parks or worldwide stuff also.0 points

Its a lot better than the company who has been jumping up and down demanding the government changes rules and regulations while keeping its own staff in the cold. At least DW has not kept staff in the cold. What's wrong with today's announcement from DW anyway?. They announced they are opening and that gives everyone a timeline. But then again DW ain't no VRTP and we al know hos this forum acts these days. Just don't go crying when the numbers fall or if those parks are required to do more than what we have already been told.0 points
