Seriously. Think about it. Where are they going to put ANY temporary rides once the new refurbishment is finished?? The temporary rides were just additions for the school holidays as they had the room to do so. Now that Maloney's Corner is a fully fleshed out area and with the addition of Big Dipper 3.0 , there will not be any need for extra rides. The Sydney Harbour Highline is just a project in development and a proposal at this stage- NOTHING has been green lit or signed off. Even if it were so, they would NEVER gift Luna Park any more land from the sidings- they will be in existence for quite a while. Also the recent failed attempt by Luna Park to have a DA for the Lavender Green and the subsequent opposition from residents has put paid to any further expansion by the park down this route. The only way moving forward for LPS to have temporary rides of any sort is to source land/ room within their current boundarys. There are only really 2 options for mine- the grassed area on top of the car park has a significant space that could be utilised for smaller attractions but the problem remains that this must be connected back to the Midway somehow. A solution to this is certainly feasible with a bit of vision. Lastly, during holiday periods, they could utilise the Big Top as an all weather site to base temporary attractions- they did set up rides inside a few years ago to test this concept. This could also work and could be the site of a holiday walkthrough attraction if they desired. This entirely depends on the amount of use and bookings that the Big Top is experiencing, of course. Its a major revenue stream for the park and they would not decrease its use as a function centre for temporary rides.2 points

I think it'll be fairly close to the RMCs, but you're right probably a little less intense. It seems Intamin responded fairly quickly to RMCs design style, starting with Steel Dolphin https://rcdb.com/15797.htm#p=98246 And then seemingly going all out with the Walibi mega coaster and Velocicoaster. I reckon the higher centre of gravity of the Intamin one will add a bit of force too.1 point

Long time, no post! I like so many of you am thrilled to see our theme park industry burgeoning into a world-class offering by next year. A prospective total of up to six (if not five) coasters is a huge win for Aussie's tourism and just the shot the in the arm we'll need after the year we've had (vaccine pun very much intended). Will 2021 be an unprecedented year? Perhaps those older than I could shed some light. I've never heard of such a strong offering across multiple Aussie parks within a single year. The only other thing I'll say about the Big Dipper, that hasn't been mentioned yet, is that it's not going to be an RMC-killer. Sure, it's a fantastic looking coaster and all, but the pitch seems to be that it's a high-thrill machine among family coasters and rides. Ignoring height/length restrictions (that would be an unfair sleight against LPS), it's just not going to have the forces or the speed of Jersey Devil, or even Wonder Woman Golden Lasso/RailBlazer. And there's Intamin's track record on reliability to consider, which I think should speak for itself. Not to piss on anyone's bonfire and I'm still excited to be riding a new Intamin at my home park next year. This is still fantastic news. It's just got me thinking... If DCR wasn't yet the saviour our parks needed, this may not be either...1 point

Ah yes, forgot those 2. 3 of these are world-firsts, or have world-first elements to them. It's a pretty exciting time right now, and i'm sure these additions will be likely to attract more international visitors (especially the Big Dipper).1 point

Do not forget the Family Gerstlauer Boomerang and the Kiddie Coaster at LPS as well- 6 coasters to be added in 2021!! This has to be a record for Australia in terms of adding coasters in a calendar year!!1 point

Um yeah.......DC Rivals IS a Mack coaster ........... In saying that, you have to look at where the $32 million is going to go. Yes its a lot of money to spend on one coaster but I am guessing that the theming and associated works is all included in this price. This is a coaster that definitely does NOT want to be a bare bone construction- if you look at the original Blue Fire mega coaster at Europa Park the theming on this coaster is world class. If we get half of this level of theming for Steel Taipan, then it WILL become the most heavily themed coaster in the country. The corollary of this of course is that $30 million will ALSO buy you this: 1-Intamin Hot Racer 2-Gerstlauer Family Shuttle 3-L&T Mini Coaster 4-Samba Balloon 5-Zamperla Discovery Revolution. 6-Midi Ferris Wheel 7-Crazy Submarine 8-Bounce Around 9-Jumpin Tower 16 The concept of value becomes a little subjective when you start this sort of comparison. Yeah sure 6 of these 9 rides are kiddie rides but lets not forget that included in this list are a Gerstlauer Family shuttle coaster, a Zamperla Discovery Revolution and of course the signature Intamin Hot Racer single rail dual launched coaster. Luna Park are getting all of these attractions for the same price as Dreamworld's one. Now its hardly apples for apples in terms of attractions but it is when you start looking at relative spend and you have to wonder what the reaction would have been if Dreamworld had announced they were adding the attraction list that LPS is adding for the same amount. Looking at it, it appears that LPS has spent their $30 million well and got very good bang for their buck. In saying that, I think that Steel Taipan will be a GREAT addition to Dreamworld and that it will be a great shot in the arm for them in leading the park back to positive public consciousness. It simply is the coaster they need at this very point in time.1 point

I don't think any part of that message said anything about 'track' - they said 'general structural maintenance' which could just refer to the building. This is pretty hinky though - i've seen a screenshot of a PM someone sent to MW where the response said the ride would not return. So why the contradictory messaging? Also, the village AGM a while back stated pretty clearly they were getting ready to retire (i think it was 2) rides - and the speculation was that it was arkham and something else - and most people landed on Sylvester's Pounce n Bounce. If Arkham isn't retiring, then which other attraction were they referring to at the AGM?1 point

I asked Luna Park some questions regarding theming two weeks ago. They finally responded to some today.1 point

You know what? You're right; the Wonderland wave swinger - Dragon's Flight - was a separate unit to the Magic Mountain one. Turns out I made a mistake. I knew a ride from MM had gone to Wonderland, but it was actually the Parachute Drop Tower that was sent there in 1991, where it was renamed the "Skyhawk". Sorry for the flub... Anyway, time for a weekly Volare update: the weather was MUCH more pleasant this week. A large crowd had gathered at the Big Top to attend the Rita Ora concert, so it was pretty busy. The ride itself is practically finished. Not too sure if the city backdrop fits the ride though...1 point
