  1. @OceanGirl If a new hole opens up @ DW then I'm blaming you. Have fun.

  2. I think it goes without saying that revealing personal information about members without their consent is not on. Everyone is welcome to add their opinions and should be able to do so without fear of things becoming personal, petty or excessively combative.

  3. A Huss film-based ride in a new castle would be so cool.

  4. So I should be cautious if ever asked if I want to go to the Ekka and "Milk crate and chill"

  6. Great to hear about Freefall - it's a good ride when it's operating. Some of my friends don't ride Abyss, but Freefall's not a problem at all. Excellent view too. If it does stay another season, I hope it gets a new paint job and some theming attention. I have quoted Mark in the past on Facebook, but if he says not to, I don't. Also, if I have any grievances at the park, I'll only post them here.

  8. Now that that's all said and done, I'd personally like to extend a thanks to @reanimated35 for making the following happen:

  9. Water probably all drained put through a rather large hole...... Also just looked at the photo again. Surely with that many mechanics it has to be some kind of training exercise?!? There what, 6 of them in there? Or did they all forget the key to the maintenance bay and waiting for number 7 to show up with the key?

  10. Maybe they are, and they just haven't put it up yet because it takes the laminator so long to warm up enough to do the 40 reams of paper they'll need to completely cover it....? I wouldn't call this the "MW Route" - Dreamworld started "advertising the park inside the park" a lot earlier - when they used the off-side of the Thunderbolt station to advertise to guests waiting on the opposite side of the platform. (I searched for a pic, but couldn't find a good one - RCDB has a pic (credit @Richard) that shows just a hint of the ad-boards i'm talking about - its the shot of the train in the station, and you can JUST make out the ad-boards on the top right hand side of the roof, behind the Op booth glass.

  11. I do have to agree with @Richard and side in support with @pushbutton on this one (holy shit, i know!!!) but publicly outing someone who goes by an Alias is something I disagree with. Some people on these forums have aliases, but make no real secret of their identity. Others go solely by their online persona, and keep that separate to even their facebook acount (you all know who you are). We should all respect one another's right to privacy. Granted, I know that it wasn't hard to connect the dots between the public post on SW's page and the member on the forums, but just because @reanimated35 is smart enough to figure it out, doesn't mean we should make it easier for the rest. Edit: I personally have outed someone's facebook page on these forums, but given their user name was their full first, middle and last name, it wasn't exactly a secret persona - so I don't think it counts

  12. ^which lacks infrastructure support (Richmond road is a nightmare), and floods. theres a reason the land out in the hawkesbury is so cheap - most of the big blocks out there you can't build on. great agricultural land though... #SixFlagsNewOrleans Nope. Badgerys creek area is the way to go, given the plans for the airport will mean infrastructure, transport and tourism will be on the doorstep. Just one suggestion on a quick look over google maps - the Elizabeth Drive landfill facility in Badgery's Creek measures around 882,000m2. That's roughly around 220 Acres... not far off, and the land surrounding is mostly rural also. I chose the landfill because google maps highlights the boundary of the facility when you search 'badgery's creek' - so don't read anything into the choice or the size. the point is, parcels of land around that size are there, and a landfill (most likely government owned) could be sold at a heavy discount in cooperation with a major developer, as a partnership... which has been done overseas for this type of development. As for emailing them, don't expect much more than a canned and prepared answer of 'watch this space' similar to anything you'd get from any of the GC parks. Believe me when I say - as soon as a deal is done, announcements will be made.

  13. Push's new Profile Pic? Jokes aside, If the monorail is on the way out, it would be very disappointing if the Monorail was to cease operation. Considering it is the first and soon to be the only operating monorail in the country. I have no problems with a complete upgrade though. Also considering this is the parks last transport option and potentially big capacity cruncher, it would be sad and very bad news for the park if the monorail went the way of the dodo.

  15. Yeah cause "Dreamworld F**k Yeah!" would look so much cooler.. Whilst not as 'dark' as the original turtles, I find the show fairly consistent with the new Nickelodeon interpretation tbh..

  16. You are right, red dragin in stating that a 100 year old loco is not all original. The boiler is one major component that would have been replaced as a matter of course. The boiler must undergo a thorough inspection by a qualified boiler inspector on a periodic basis. He may recommend replacement of stays or firetubes, or welding of specific areas, or if it has deteriorated to a level where repair would not be cost effective, may condemn it. How long a boiler will last is difficult to foretell. It may be as little as 25 years, or even more than 50 years. A lot depends on water quality, water treatment chemicals, and the storage situation. If a boiler is left unused with water in it for months on end, corrosion will make itself felt. For long-time storage the boiler should be emptied and left dry. Boiler plate may be15 mm thick or more, so there is a good factor of safety, but corrosion is a killer. It is surprising just how much is original, though. Original components on our engine include the mainframe, wheel centres (tyres are replaced when worn to condemning level), axles, valve gear, cylinders, (yes, the cylinders ARE original), sand dome, steam dome casing and more. The transformation carried out to work at Dreamworld included provision of new components - cow-catcher, smoke-stack, cab, headlight, bell and other minor decorative components.

  18. Tbh you seem like an arrogant jerk. You come to a theme park enthusiasts forum, and expect to be able to post whatever you like with questioning, and then meet any questioning with contempt. we don't know you, and you don't know us, as you've just shown up - that changes through communication. Saying 'those truely in the know have no difficulty getting in touch with me' is just a Tosser of a thing to say, Do you understand the Australian culture and way of life? Might be an idea before you open a theme park here. being a jerk to people who make up a large part of your target market and are generally influencers in the community isn't going to help your cause. I suggest you walk out the door and then come back in with a different attitude and you'll find others will change there's towards you too
