Those of you who've been here a while will remember I started a thread to thank various people from here for helping with our 2015 trip to Australia and share trip reports. Once again I'd like to thank @Gazza and @joz for their help and assistance in making our trip what it was. So I was trolling through the internet as one normally does, and stumbled across a document from Pitt and Sherry, the company most publicly involved in the Dreamworld re-certification of attractions. Interestingly in their document of work they have done, they mention that they provided design verification of the mechanical, pneumatic and electrical components of a SC2000 Spinning Coaster from Maurer Sohne. I've attached the screenshot and also attached a link to the document. The question I am unable to verify is how long ago that work occurred, is it recent? Is it old and perhaps was once considered a replacement for the wooden mad mouse? Or is our mad mouse knocking on deaths door? So many questions, not enough answers. Does anyone know anymore? Went up to Dreamworld today, and am happy to report that I heard none of these sounds on the ride. It was simply the fact the parts are still new and needed to be worn in.

With the Hypercoaster... Pushing down on the tubing that comes around and into the sides of the lap restraint gives you more leverage over the harness system... As someone who has been too large for almost every ride in the gold coast theme parks... You go in knowing there is the possibility that you may not fit... Is it embarrassing as hell when it happens? Yes... But if you can remember that it is for your own safety that you cannot ride and not an attack on you as a person it's not nearly as bad... In my case it was due to medications, surgery and 4 months of bed rest (lack of being able to exercise) that I went from 90kg up to 140kg... It took me 5 years to be able to once again fit into every ride at MW but I'll be damned if on every trip to the park I didn't check to see how close I was to being able to ride and celebrated that little bit when I could add a ride back into my trips... But I always requested to be placed towards the back of the ride in case I had to disembark due to harness not being able to close...

I approve of your life priorities/choices. How tragic, we were all so young when we first started chatting on these forums. I was just a little twink. Now many of us are getting a little long in the tooth. Without wanting to derail the topic with too many off-subject posts, how old are you AlexB, if I can ask a lady that question?

Ditto. Practically every time I drive by and see the ride going the Back seat is empty. Same when in Park. Backwards is occupied maybe 1-2 out of 5 runs tops. How about if MW offered a deal to Passholders for free backwards rides with any in-Park purchase? For example, buy a Soft Drink refill, retain the receipt and validate it for your free backwards ride? A great way to generate some extra Passhole spending, especially when most People visit with others, so the group would have to buy more than one thing for everyone to get their free ride. I always visit with my Partner and still haven't ridden backwards. It might not seem like a lot to many of you, by the time I drive to the Park I have already spent $30 on Fuel and will throw at least another $40 on food and drink for the day including afternoon Coffee and Cake at the Cafe in the Park. I can't justify another $20 at this stage sans spending that money on Groceries for dinner that night. Or 2 bottles of wine

As a parent of kids that were little in the not so distant past, it truly is underwhelming. I've said many times that Dreamworld needs to go for the family market, but I think the lower/middle primary school age bracket is probably better to target than the under 3s. ETA: I was stuck holding the bags, but the Wipeout got a big thumbs up from both my husband and 9-year-old daughter. My only suggestion would be a bit of shade over the viewing platform.

Just catching up after some time away - but whats worse is the muttonhead passholes that would buy the fast track when it was cheap who were complaining that it was now unaffordable for them on every trip and only within reach of tourists who wouldn't give repeat business on the product... as if that was a valid complaint... I read that and just went... "good!"

RHLR still doesn’t have lap bars.. this change has nothing to do with lap bars... Last time I checked having a roof doesn’t secure you inside the boat... that tells you this change has been made to somehow mitigate a rollover causing submergance of guests in the water. The chances of a rollover occurring on a log ride, therefore requiring a mitigating redundancy, is clearly illustrated by the complete lack of this feature in any other log ride in the world.

Commission a reputable ride manufacturer to modify the existing boats? Commission all new boats? Rebuild sections of the course deemed troublesome? Replace the entire ride with a modern flume? The option that they settled on isn't just cheap and noticeably DIY, but also something that no other theme park has done.

I truly don't believe the show was amazing. The company SW engaged to do the show had all the tools and none of the knowhow of what makes a great show. When I walked through the gates and cast my eyes across the lakes and saw the setup spread across the lake, it got me generally excited to see the show. After seeing the show, I describe the show as random. 1. The show had no depth to it. 2. The song selection was poor. 3. The lights didn’t line up with the music 4. The lasers were underutilised. The water fountains didn’t do anything. The transitions between the songs were strange. The finale was more let’s chuck extra random stuff together to make it feel bigger still without using the lasers, lights, and water effects to their full potential. In the world we live in everybody gets a trophy for trying.

Dreamworld has already made it pretty clear that their intention, at least in the short to medium term, is not to compete with Movieworld on thrills and coasters. They are focusing on the family and experienced market. With Ardent’s long term involvement with DW far from certain, they won’t be dropping $40m+ on a coaster

You know dreamworld probably didnt want to do this either, they most likely just wanted to keep it he same, but the audit people said otherwise, so they had to do the cheapest way possible which was this

Got on the last car of scooby today before it closed, I have never seen it sooooo dark in there ever!!! As well as a new scooby doo fiberglass sculpture thing was been delivered, along with a fair bit of new theming!!
