  1. As much as I hate the min by min updates, given the recent commentary in this thread, I feel it should be pointed out GL reopened, and Superman and Rivals were both running 2 trains with less than 4mins between dispatches today.
  2. I think this obsession with shortterm unplanned downtime has become unhealthy.
  3. Is it worth it? Oh absolutely! I'll add some qualifications though: there will be queues. Don't think you're going to get away without it. Some will be better or worse than others; Aqua Racer will be quite short. The Flumes at White Water Mountain on the other hand? Honestly just pretend they aren't there. Also if you're on holiday, and this is your big theme park day, plan to arrive early and stay late. Get in well before opening and get a jump on the crowds. Early morning is when you can tick off a few of the slides at the back of the park with (relatively) more manageable waits. Stuff like Kaboom, Tornado, Blackhole and Kamikaze. If you can get them out of the way, after lunch you've got stuff like Aqua Racer, Mammoth Falls, Wave Pool and Calypso Bay, H2Oasis, WnW Jr., and the other smaller tube slides off the Kaboom Tower. Also take advantage of the nights Dive in Movies are on, as the queues do die off dramatically later in the day. If you see a queue and it is long; don't join it. There is other stuff to do with a shorter line. Finally, if it's overcast, go. It's summer. You'll be fine, the kids will be fine. Particularly if you're coming from down south. If the weather isn’t 100%, lots of people put off visiting. Don't do what they're doing. It sounds like a lot but honestly if you do these things, you may still stand in queues, but you'll also have a good day.
  4. For the next month, barring weather, the 6 quietest days 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd 23rd and 24th of this month lol
  5. I don't know so, but I suspect wind is a part of it, but not all of it. Easier just to say wind for all of it I guess. Sky Flyer didn't have this much downtime did it?
  6. Honestly it's all much of a muchness before Christmas. I'd expect 23rd to be alright. It'll be busy enough that there is atmosphere, but not out of control busy.
  7. See I'm old enough to remember that the park was improved when they took the boats out. It's weird what people are nostalgic for I guess.
  8. Christmas eve is a good choice. Genuine candidate for the best day between now and Jan 23, possibly better.
  9. If you don't have kids, go after the 23rd of Jan. The drop off after kids go back to school is huuuuge. But yeah, if the rest of the year is any indication, and if the weather holds, this really could be one of the biggest peak seasons the parks have seen. If you're a local who can go any day you want, ask yourself if you NEED to go, and if you do go, manage your expectations.
  10. Christmas eve traditionally isn't too bad. Like it's not a weekday in February quiet, but it's around half of what you'll get a few days later. The rest of this post is for people who google Gold Coast theme park crowds Christmas 2022: For anyone wanting to know, barring abnormal weather, this year the busiest days at the parks will be the Tues the 27th and Wed 28th, probably the 28th will be the busiest this year. If I had to pick any park to visit, it would be WnW, arriving in the early/mid afternoon. Enjoy the wave pool, Calypso Beach, Aqua Racer, maybe Mammoth, and leave the rest till late after 4 till 7:30 close. The three weeks after boxing day are the busiest of the year, normally it does get a bit less hectic the further away from boxing day you get. Weekends are often relatively quiet as people all as a group think 'I'm not going at the weekend during the holidays, it'll be too busy'. Understand I said 'relatively', it is still the peak season of the busiest year for a decade. It'll be packed. If you can delay your visit till something like the 19th of Jan, I would encourage you to do so. You'll hopefully get something more in line with a normal weekend, but will all coasters running all the trains available, extra shows to soak up the crowds and the same extended trading from the peak. Good luck out there!
  11. I think you might have a point, but you'll know full well that you've also criticised temporary signage in the past as used by different operators
  12. I mean that's gotta be a troll account at this point to say something like that right?
  13. I dunno, I'd be all about Cricket Rivals HyperCoaster. To be honest though pretty much every idea in this thread is kind of horrendous in it's own way. The only half thought out idea was to lean into Village Roadshow's catalogue, and aside from that do a few one off agreements. All this stuff about buying theme park rights off of Sony for Spiderman and going with Marvel but not Disney and all the rest was so out of touch with reality that I had a panic attack 😂
  14. I'm surprised they weren't on the first flight up here like everyone else.
  15. It's really tough because the show elements are actually properly awesome, well designed, well executed and yeah.. just all round awesome. In one train operation you could run that animation when the train is out of the station and might actually end up increasing capacity. A ride with no seatbelts and air gates really should be getting 600people through an hour, whereas I think what they were actually doing was only jist crackong 200. I think it'll be one of those things like Space Probe's queue where you go 'Oh yeah when they opened it it was like really loud in there and it was only ever one group at a time! It was awesome but totally impractical. You'd think the setup for Leviathan will have to change.
  16. See spin and spew to me is more Scrambler or Top Scan. You know, thrill flat rides. Sky Flyer seems more gentle to me. Just a really tall chair swing
  17. Quite correct, Vortex was having some issues for a large part of the day. Seperate to that issue though, there was a couple points in the day where the wind was gusting above 60km/h, which shut the other stuff down. A good chunk of Leviathan's down time was due to the wind.
  18. That's why you're supposed to pick the dolphin out of the tuna can when you eat tuna
  19. To be honest the rest of it is where I REALLY lose interest. I'll spend $250 on f&b before the whole thing is quietly disbanded in 4 years.
  20. But think of all the yummy beer you had to do it!
  21. Surely you could buy 6 up front and just ask for them when you're ready?
