  1. Dreamworld have updated the printable park map on their website. Adding the grids and adding the list of attraction with height requirements and small description is good to see and should be very helpful for guests.
  2. This time we will be doing two polls. Also due to the WoO Boomerang not being open, you can compare it to POVs of Tweestyrd as well as the theming on the concept art. Vote by Saturday.
  3. Not sure exactly what this is supposed to be but more activity in the park is always nice. But it seems like it’s only for DW night markets? And free entry? Not sure how this is profitable. But it will create a good atmosphere which is always great. Seems a bit last minute as it literally starts tomorrow. Thoughts?
  4. Time for round two, this time it will be Superman Escape vs. Steel Taipan. Put your votes in by Saturday.
  5. I think Movieworld has to be very careful, if Dreamworld invests in a unique Hypercoaster in 2026 then the park will be very competitive against Movieworld's offering.
  6. Thought I would start this up for fun. Each Saturday I list two rides from two different parks, and people vote what is best. Voting will close on Thursdays, and on Fridays the results are revealed. One ride is saved and one is turned into paperclips. For example, it could be Superman Escape v Steel Taipan one week. If ST wins it would be added to the list while Superman would be removed. Clones will be counted as one choice, not two. Also you do not need to have ridden the coaster to vote, but it would be good if you have. Let's start off with... TNT (Gumbuya World) vs. Kenny's Forest Flier (Dreamworld) In my opinion I would pick TNT. It is actually really fun and intense for a family coaster and I am glad Movie World is getting a clone. Also it goes fast the whole length of the ride while KFF seems to go slow in the second half. Remember to put results in by Thursday.
  7. I saw this on TV tonight and found the link to the article which you can click on: https://9now.nine.com.au/a-current-affair/tight-40cm-squeeze-delivers-blow-for-gold-coast-couples-dream-home/4ccb607e-b263-45c6-97d3-2b050a68c552 Moderators I am not sure if this is for the theme park forum or the chit-chat forum.
  8. All Dreamworks references within the Kung Fu Panda area have now been removed. Pandamonium is set to close on Monday 30th and will reopen late March. I’m speculating that maybe most of this area will be closed off soon so the Ocean Parade transformation can begin. There are heaps of coloured dots on the ground throughout the area too
  9. Ardent Leisure recently lodged a new IP application. This time around we have : Serpent Slayer Class 41 Amusement park services; Amusement parks; Amusement rides (entertainment); Theme park services
  10. The DWF have shared on their socials that the nocturnal house has undergone a refurbishment and has reopened as the ‘Twilight Trail’. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CmoAeQWh_lp/?igshid=YWJhMjlhZTc= Personally, this was one of my favourite parts of DWs animals precincts, so I am very happy to see its return.
  11. Imagine you woke up with $100 million and you had to spend the money to change an Aussie theme park of your choice. Which park would it be and what would you do? Please try and be somewhat realistic
  12. The first dates have been added to the Dreamworld website for the maintenance schedule for 2023. No major closures next year, except for attractions in Dreamworks due to the refurbishment. Interestingly, most of them are only listed as closing for a couple days in January. I’m thinking that maybe the area will close from this date and they aren’t yet sure on length of time. However Mad Jungle Jam isn’t expected to close until July. So maybe the refurbishment will be in phases throughout 2023 to ensure the entire area doesn’t need to close and massively reduce the attraction count for guests
  13. (Didn't see a dedicated thread, so here we are!) The Dreamworks Store transformation into the new Parent's Centre is well underway \ Escape from Madagascar's Ride Sign has been removed The "Beware of Ogres" sign has also been removed by Shrek, leaving a hole. Semi related- watched the Wiggles show and Kenny and Belinda seem to have a new look: A couple weeks ago:
  14. I havent seen mention of it here, but have on FB, that Tiger Island will also be getting a refurb/remodelling as the park moves away from keeper interaction with the tigers - i.e no longer doing presentations etc. If that is the case, and its basically set to be become a zoo exhibit, then for mine they may as well get rid of it. Tiger Island since day one was about the interaction between tigers and handlers visible to the public, about understanding their natural instincts and behaviours in the wild (as much as possible in a controlled setting). If what we are getting is just a couple of tigers sitting in a smaller location than what is current, i'd be done with it and use the land for better purpose - and thats coming from someone who LOVES tigers.
  15. Thanks for the diagram Gazza on the other post. Does anyone have any concept of this "Inclined Turntable" from online? or is it something brand new? still trying to understand how it works to visualise it. Also do you think the whole area where wiggles car ride is will be knocked down for this new Coaster?
  16. Roll up, roll up to Dreamworld this summer as it becomes an absolute circus from 27 December to 8 January, with big top shows, globe riders, aerial acts, comedy acts, hydro stunts in the Dreamworld Pond, plus heaps of themed food for purchase & entertainment throughout the park! 17. The GCCC has just finished the newest city-wide flood map based on the latest modelling. The map will be reviewed by the QLD gov in 2023 as part of the proposed Designing for Major Update to the City Plan. Once in, the updated town plan will have a say in what the parks can do. RISK CATEGORY DESCRIPTION Maximum regional flood extent Only floods in very rare to extreme flood events. Extent of the floodplain associated with very rare events and can include hazard of any type (low or high). Low risk Relatively lower hazards in frequent to infrequent flood events. High hazards can only occur in rare and very rare flood events, when it is unsafe for people and vehicles and buildings can be subject to structural failure. 18. Based on a recent youtube video published on the 12th November 2020 the Ardent Leisure Dreaworks Theme Park Shrek, Kung Fu Panda & Madagascar - oh my! Join us for a walkthrough of the "Dreamworks Experience is to be no more, I quote the following from Theme Park Ogre "With the rumours that this area might be closing soon, I thought it was time to do a walk through video! I hope you enjoy" [Ref: Theme Park Ogre] Reported on the 9th of November, Ardent Leisure, owner of Dreamworld theme Park has announced and due to report my month ending (Nov 2022) that a potential $50, million spend is to be allocated to their businesses. In addition and as part of questions posed by investor to Ardent Leisure, the option for accommodation on Ardent Leisure's significant and 100% owned land is still being considered. Having watched the Theme Park Ogre YouTube video (as per encloded link), and what appears to be a lack of busting and swelled Theme Park guess crowds in the filmed area(s), may well provide some credibility that the suggested rumour posed by Theme Park Ogre may indeed have some merit. It is acknowledged that Dreamworks made its First quarterly profit as announced on the ASX since the tragic accident at Dreamworld, Ardent Leisure has resently reported a handsome $150 mill plus resting in slumber in their healthy bank accounts. With a previously announced $75 million 4 star and 5 star caravan park planned (tentatively put on hold) coupled with $50 million allocated to business park improvements. Having a recent theme Park competitor having announced their intent for a possible high rise hotel in close nearology to the park, Ardent Leisure may have missed the boat (opportunity) in regards to their planned 4 star hotel on their 100% owned land. However, a 5 start caravan park in the heart land of Australia's theme Park mecca, applying the $50 million and connecting the business to the $75 million bolt on business may make good business sense on a nimber of fronts. Could the rumour play benefit to a complete re-theme and finally connecting dormant Ardent Leisure land with new business opportunities. Regardless, the writing is on the wall, Dreamworld maybe a completely different experience for guests and as lacking in the Theme Park Ogre video, increase much needed foot traffic at Dreamworld.
  19. Saver remains the same, Value $119 > $129 and Locals $129 > $149. Renewals remain at $99 for a Locals Pass. They have joined VRTP in One Day park ticket for an adult being $105. WWW is no longer included in the one day ticket and needs to be purchased separately or as part of a multi-day pass.
  20. I was planning a visit to the GC next month and was wondering how I will fare at the parks and what will be a no go. I’m a little on the bigger side at 5’7 and 155kg.
