Pitty they haven't updated the actual Dreamworld map though.... still shows construction zones and dead end pathways. -

Could Big Brother return to Dreamworld?
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to zacsta_1997's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Honestly that makes a lot of sense. purposebuilt facilities for film-production, secure facility isolated from the public, most foreign shows are filmed on sound stages so it makes a lot of sense to do it there. it'll be curious whether village are 'in on it' and will capitalise with cross-marketing, in-park appearances and BTS opportunities post-production, or whether they are simply 'renting a space to a production company' and no more than that... - Yesterday

Could Big Brother return to Dreamworld?

My money is BB will be filmed at the Village studios. Job listing -

I understand the reason for it, but you can't close it down entirely for 12-18 months without a substitute which is why I said: Once you have that, you can have a pathway that hugs the boundary (either staying on stage, or routing backstage if you need to include the food outlet) like this: Let's face it, you're not removing RRRC or JDS - So you can utilise the former LTRR queue space, allowing you to continue operating RRRC, JDS and your new indoor attraction space, effectively enabling you to bulldoze the rest of the land at leisure without guests cracking it over your lack of kids attractions. (Bonus - you get to keep the arcade open too) Ideally you'd get the food outlet and toilets refurbed prior to hoarding this pathway - you can't have a kids land operating without toilets nearby (but I suppose you could fit a small bathroom in the showbuilding also - which might stop the JDS queue smelling like piss too)

Could Big Brother return to Dreamworld?
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to zacsta_1997's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The dreamworld that placed a giant silver skull in the middle of village green, employed a non-engineer to head up the engineering department, a car museum in the middle of ocean parade and a motorbike rollercoaster in Rivertown is gone. Big Brother doesn't belong at Dreamworld anymore. The current management has set about righting the wrongs of the past - there is still work to do (including the motorbike coaster in rivertown) but they're not walking backwards.... and BB would be backwards. -

Please do post a trip report. You will visit before me. I’m also curious about Legoland.

I can highly recommend Gästehaus Nikita for your accomodation - within walking distance to the park and the owners are lovely. I'm a bit of a musical theatre nut so I loved the phantom VR experience - its worth doing regardless because I'm pretty sure its the only VR coaster that starts before you're on the train. Eftling has an app for queue skipping with is very much worth its time. Europa has a lot of single rider lines if your misses isn't keen.

Could Big Brother return to Dreamworld?

I'm weirdly nostalgic for Big Brother at Dreamworld (and I'm not nostalgic for a LOT of things, so consider this special), yes reality TV is trash, yes Big Brother as a concept and as a show does NOT mesh with the presumably "family friendly" image Dreamworld is going for these days but my favourite memories of Dreamworld as a teen in the late 90's/early 2000's will always be these 3 things: #3. The Big Brother cafe that overlooked the Log Ride. Don't know why but it was always kind of built anticipation for the auditorium itself. #2. The Control Booth in the auditorium, again kinda weird thing to focus on but the fact that the control booth was featured on TV (specifically the Up-Late) show but it was so cool to see so many TV's with eyes through the various cameras AND for the fact it was showing live feeds AND their was the allure for my young, impressionable teenage brain that I might see nudity was kinda captivating. #1. The fact the house was just there. You might be surprised to see that an apparently big 'Big Brother' fan (which I apparently am (at least for the first couple of seasons) has no interest in evictions shows and that's kind of true, I went to precisely one eviction show and I kinda thought it was boring, at least until the evictee did their exit, everything else was bland. So what's the Number 1 thing about 'Big Brother' being at Dreamworld, the fact that this "thing on TV" was just a couple hundred meters beyond the park. And so I come to my final thoughts on this whole ~thing~, do I think Dreamworld should host Big Brother again? I don't care, I don't live in Queensland anymore so whatever... Do I think Dreamworld would financially or culturally benefit from hosting Big Brother again? Again, no, at least not for the TikTok generation - unless - and this is a BIG unless, unless the next Big Brother series could cross the cultural zeitgeist and be relevant to kids and teens and yes, even us "old-heads" bother to watch television again. TL:DR, 'Big Brother' is a big draw, but for very different reasons and not for the reasons it was. If it was to be relevant now it would need to be some cross-generational cultural defying phenomenon and ALSO capture the whole 'live TV show in a theme park' shtick which is understandably harder to define in our 'every famous person just exists on our phone' kind of mentality that every iPad kid has grown up with. -

Dreamworld General Improvments 2025

To my understanding they’ve removed those doors as a part of the Emporiums refurb, so inside you wouldn’t even know it’s there. I think what they’ve done is made the best of a bad situation (that was caused by previous management when the Lego store was built). I think it would’ve been nice to have aligned the stages backdrop with the facade above, but I’m sure there reasons for that decision. And while it would’ve been aesthetically even better if they rebuilt the original facade and didn’t have this stage, I can appreciate the need for it as the temporary one has been used multiple times every day and during the night markets for several years now. At least they’ve made an effort to build something permanent that matches the colour schemes and style of Main Street. -
They need to shut the area because there is basically ZERO services ducting in the whole area. It's a giant mess of installed and dug up and reinstalled conduit that serves basically very little. You can't make proper use of the available area with the landscape as it is, it needs a complete layout change AND the addition of services pits. So it will take a considerable amount of time to even work through the mess and change the terrain (there's quite a change in height across the whole area). Virtually the whole park is built like this to be honest. Lots of GPR work to scope the site area each time they start a new development because it's a mismatch of pipes and cabling running all over the place and the site drawings were seriously outdated (which they found out the hard way, multiple times). Some better photos on the manufacturers website. Gallery . Mini Cars & Go-Kart Manufacturers.

Dreamworld General Improvments 2025

See, that's just beautiful. The splashpad would cop sun all day, facing north, and the afternoon sun is brutal down near humpty \ serpent with zero shelter. It would have been lovely to have some trees but they do take a long time to grow in and roots play havoc with so many rides in close proximity so the shelters are a brilliant idea (shame they couldn't be blue to disappear into the background a little more but thats my only critique!) It's wonderful to see a park recognise a shade issue around a ride and implement a solution. on an unrelated note - how are the queues going for Oz? Yeah look - I hate this. They had a beautiful facade there, along main street, and they've destroyed it with modern glass sliding doors and now this. I understand the reason for it - the loss of the fountain to the flyer reduced their main street entertainment space and this is all-weather covered so it makes sense to put it here. I just wish they'd have resdesigned the entire facade to suit the new construction as it's jarring going from the double bay windows into flat blank hoarding. At least they got rid of that god awful colour scheme and returned it to something more classic I suppose... -
The car has two 'seats' - a low one that is enclosed on the sides for kids to sit in, similar to a dodgem car. This seat is further forward so they can reach the wheel \ pedal. There is then a higher seat at the rear, set further back so adults can ride it \ reach the pedal \ wheel. While probably designed for parents to co-pilot children too small to drive by themselves, older kids \ adults frequently ride by themselves - sometimes while accompanying a self-driving child, and sometimes while not. (stolen from instagram - best image I could find) Some other examples of solo adults found on google:

Dreamworld are continuing to invest in the parks longevity with improvements and refurbishments happening across the park. All of Main Street is being refurbishment to a much more classic colour scheme. They have finally built a permanent stage after having that temporary one for several years. They will also soon be giving the roof a full refurb. The Emporium, which I believe used to be labelled as two different stores depending if you entered from Main Street or Ocean Parade, is becoming just the one larger store. It’s getting a full refurb to suit the new Dreamworld aesthetic. Currently only the Ocean Parade side is complete, but it is utilising some of the former empty space between the emporium and Lego store. The outdoor seating for Kenny’s Fried Chicken is being upgraded. The right side has been completed, so now it’s the left sides turn. There hasn’t been any recent progress on the track installation for the Dreamworld Express. I asked about this and have been assured it will soon be completing the laps again, there have just been some delays. The Fire Station has had a complete repaint. And shading has been added over some of the pathways in Dreamland.

I guess its safe to say its Bounty's Revenge coming back, most likely a Huss replacement for the original. I wonder if it will take the same plot. Building Permit is currently under review.

Yeah but some kids are going to be turned off by the very thought of roller coasters, even ones that don’t go upside down. Flight of the wicked witch might be too intimidating to some people who might otherwise go on west. Not all family attractions should be roller coasters, you need a mix, village has gone a bit too far into the roller coaster rabbit hole Ur comment has been answered to in detail already but the Lego movie and barbie isn’t going to be at movie world anytime soon for obvious reasons. Legoland exists and Mattel is getting into theme parks now. Don’t know the specifics of whatever contract village has signed but it’s most likely for specific movies as opposed to the entire library (for instance WB own the rights to the Harry Potter movies but of course the rights to that are with universal). Most likely DC Hanna barbera and looney tunes in their entirety are already covered. Honestly had no idea that adults could ride JDS as I thought the vehicles would be physically too small for them to go on. Probably highlights my ignorance of that specific ride as I’ve never been on it. As a concept I do agree it hits the nail on the head for kids (what kid wouldn’t want to go on little cars and drive around a street) but I thought it was a strictly kids only experience (that takes up a lot of real estate)
