  1. Past hour
  2. If Gold Coaster is shut down, there is a significant amount of free space underneath the coaster for production trucks and such. I do agree, but as we've concluded, this feels like it's very last minute. Getting a building approval to construct the house on that plot would have taken time. Constructing a set inside an existing structure requires no such approvals, while support buildings in demountable or truck trailers can roll in and plug in.. As has been suggested, perhaps this is the plan for this year while they formulate a longer term plan.
  3. Building seating and a live show stage (and probably a live production/circus tent for weather) is much easier than a whole foundation/house. They could easily build that on the expansion land in a week for live shows and if they go down the 'friday night games' route I'm sure knocking up a few temp walls and throwing down some fake grass doesn't take long either.
  4. Yesterday
  5. I do find it weird placing the house in the main entertainment venue, they keep talking on the socials about how it’s going back to original format. So I’m unsure where they will do the live show, I wonder what they put the BB house in the entertainment centre rather then the old thunderbolt building which would still have its amenities, closer to the out door area, access from the back and would give access to the blue roller coaster
  6. That was always a simple option, the fibre runs from the old house were far far longer. I think the part that was always in question was more the size of the building, and the free areas next to it. A production of this scale is going to require multiple OB trucks, ancillary buildings for production teams and so on. There isn't really any space for any of that around the DEC. It would've made far more sense to have had the house in the expansion plot next to WWW, all of the support around that space, with the live shows being held within the DEC space. It all feels very backwards.
  7. Last week
  8. Haha, it’s the same every time. Selected “micro-influencers” audited by recruitment agencies and talent management companies
  9. Yes, because they are exclusively getting housemates from the Gold Coast only 🙄
  10. It’s all the same, fake actors, I know they wanted down to earth people, but it won’t happen. The Gold Coast is full of influencers
  11. You clearly haven’t been keeping up with the audition process.
  12. no. They'll want the influencer's and wanna-be soap stars they choose to have the most possible time tanning in swimsuits by the pool....
  13. QR can replace sections of track, points etc in a weekend and have it certified for 100kmhr+ running for Monday morning. That short closure will be more than enough for an amusement ride for a few test laps and training (it's not classed as a railway, doesn't fall under the National Rail Safety Regulators powers).
  14. Would they perhaps limit the house mates outdoor access to after park hours?
  15. I know ST wasn't designed for it @DaptoFunlandGuybecause I have a maintenance manual for the Bluefire coaster. All DW are dong is breaking down the maintenance into smaller parts over a year. I've never seen one manual telling you to shut the ride down for months to carry out maintenance.
  16. Yeah i know it has access, but it isn't really suitable to build an outdoor area in the surrounds of the gold coaster ride envelope - not to say it couldnt work, but with the apparent time constraints you'd think an area with foundations/cleared, some landscaping etc already in place would be the better choice. Thankfully my son is well out of wiggles phase now, but all the years we saw them at dreamworld it was always on Main St and worked well. This is the area the poster referred to as the location - i do agree with you that it doesn't seem production suitable at all for tv lighting and cameras etc.
  17. The conference centre does have access to the other side - underneath gold coaster. An outdoor space could exist there without encroaching on the theme park - but what you've outlined does make more sense. essentially cutting off that entire end of Ocean Parade. Ampitheatre in dreamland does not have the capacity for a wiggles show. more likely they'd take over mainstreet under the roof like they've done previously (although the Claw entrance is now in a different spot so that might not work either) I'd be strongly objecting to them closing ANOTHER 'included' attraction like Dodgems in order to facilitate an upcharge skating attraction. That is because ST was designed for it. You can't apply those rules to other rides with other manufacturer stipulations. The live shows need more head room than the Shell provides. They'd be better off using the Dreamland ampitheatre and just limiting the live audience.
  18. DW has proven with ST that they can maintain a ride without closing it down. PLUS, we have seen flexibility in maintenance at DW before. I think you might we onto something that the Big Brother deal was rushed. @Brad2912 maybe the live shows will be in this undercover area.
  19. I'm expecting that a replacement for Superman has to be the next major investment that Village are planning. The olympics are coming up, and I imagine they'll want a big new attraction shortly before then (similar to how Rivals opened shortly before the Commonwealth games). And five or six years post WoZ seems about inline with their recent expenditure habits. Clearly they're willing to refurbish old but popular attractions, so I agree that a LSM retrofit is very much on the table. I saw a presentation on YouTube recently by a few Intamin engineers, and they said that they're continuing to work on increasing the capabilities of a LSM launch. I think it will just depend on how good the technology is and how much it will cost vs a new attraction, when it gets to the point they have to sign a contract; which for a 2030/2031 opening is probably ~2027/2028, so there's still a few years for them to decide.
