  3. If Superman does close I can't see them removing it. I reckon it's arguably the second most well-known ride at the park behind DC Rivals (with Scooby and WWF close behind) but I can see a lot of angry people if it does get removed. Considering both Scooby and WWF got major refurbishments, I can see Superman getting the same treatment. Replace the launch track with LSMs and redo the pre-show and queue, keeping the ride layout the same whilst offering a different experience from the previous one. The only problem is if Zamperla rather than Intamin redoes it as TT2 is very unreliable. Otherwise if not I can see them replacing Superman with something similar. I would love to see an Intamin Blitz themed to Batman continue to have the top hat and pre-show element, but change the layout to one that uses the grass area between Superman's current layout and the studios. Something similar to Gotham City Escape at Parque Warner Madrid with a similar queue area and vibe.
  4. Red Force can accelerate a train from 0-100kph in 2 seconds, which is the same as Superman, so the current track length is enough if MW were to invest in the same super-capacitors. Regardless, modern LSMs can be placed on curved track and vertical track, so the launch could just continue up the top hat. S&S also do compressed air launches which are still being produced. So there are more options than just an LSM conversion.
  5. Both lsm retrofits so far (zamperla) by all accounts have had a lot of bugs since opening. Intamin can do these retrofits themselves as well not just zamperla so there’s a few options. Superman launch track is quite short and for a conversion to be on the table it needs to fit within the existing track layout (ie not require a swing launch), I’ll leave that up to Intamin or zamperla to figure that out. Of course with new vehicles that means new clearances so a lot more work would have to be done to adjust the envelope inside the building and when the ride goes in and out of the building during the course so that needs to be considered as well. Superman is the only ride at the park that in my view is worth retrofitting (along with scooby which has been done already). Everyone loves it even 20 years later, it always gets a massive line whenever it is open. Village would be fools not to look at it as an option and see if a conversion is possible, otherwise work out a replacement straight away and get the ground running because movie world cannot depend on rivals & green lantern as its only major thrill coasters for 3-4 years. Like a few other comments a new Intamin launch coaster would be perfect, but I’m aware space is a bit limited on that site so I wouldn’t mind a tilt coaster or a dive coaster. I could probably see superman running for another 3 years at least before any of this happens. The new parts should keep it running for a bit longer
  6. I mean credit where it's due - they've lost an attraction unexpectedly and they've stood up another in it's place. I had assumed that they weren't opening west due to the noise issues they have at night, but if they're opening it as a sub for superman, this doesn't wash - which does make me think they should have had it open from the beginning then...
  7. The sad part is that Showtime have enough talented performers (bikes, cars, etc.) that they could put on a good 'action' show with a proper concept/script/direction, but they just don't. I don't really understand why there is a truck on a lake at Sea World with BMX riders, when those same BMX riders could be contributing to a better action/stunt show at MW. It's one thing to need to cut costs, or reduce risk, but a good concept and script only needs to be written once and then it costs nothing. Same with allocating performers to the right park and the right show. It would probably be more cost effective for Sea world to just invest in a really impressive fountain show, and put all the money for performers into MW, and both shows would be better than they currently are.
  8. i could see them replacing the launch with LSM’s and replacing the trains with new gen blitz trains. I wonder what’s going on with Flash, it’s meant to be open for fright nights still but it has been closed alongside Superman, with the trains removed from the tracks.
  9. I'm of two minds about SE's future. Positive Thoughts: While the accelerators aren't sold anymore, outside of TTD/Kinga Ka we haven't really seen any permanently removed yet (others have been relocated). Xcelerator has had a recent lengthy downtime, but was returned to service, and has now had KK's parts sent over to be used. Negative Thoughts: The ride is 20 years old this year, it's not going to last forever. MW has demonstrated in the past that they plan to keep things open and operational, until they don't, and the ride gets quietly shuttered and demolished. Future Thoughts: Intamin LSM launches are 'good enough' in that you'll have a thrilling ride still if they were to retrofit it somehow or replace it with something like a blitz model (like Maverick but with newer more comfortable trains). It won't be punchy as the hydraulic launch but it will be cheaper to maintain. The cost of maintaining vs the cost of replacing will be the main driver for Superman's longevity.
  10. GL valleyed on the 20th of July and maintenance schedule was due to start on the 23rd of July. MW has shown us before they can maintain a ride a lot quicker then MW currently do and why I believe, maintenance is dragged out to reduce ruining cost.

  12. Or... they've investigated the issue, now have to sit and wait for the manufacturer to sort it out. Meaning you now have more crew with nothing to do.
  13. I'm leaning towards a new show in the stunt arena, but with the overblown puffery we've had from the park in the past 'new entertainment offering' could easily just be a new character appearance with a new background...
  14. With all the other accelerators around the world going down or getting retrofitted, I'm wondering how long Superman has left.
  15. Last week
  16. To be fair, the coaster did close almost a month early because a car valleying, however if Superman and Flash didn’t close as well, I definitely wouldn’t have thought they would be opening the coaster almost a month early
  17. It's strange how you can complete maintenance of GL ahead of schedule when you're in a situation where another ride has gone down and presumably also requires people to spend time investigating it too.
  18. Credit to MovieWorld for actually acknowledging and explaining the situation, they very rarely do that. Hopefully they don’t pull a Six Flags KingDa Ka moment on us though.
  19. Sounds like the same thing as last year, a 3 month closure. The rides at the end of its life, I wonder how much time its got left... are they waiting for scooby to reopen? I'd imagine that these parts would be very very expensive due to the limited installations of the model, and it's back to back years now.
  20. Movie World’s new post on Superman’s extended closure does now confirm that a new entertainment offering is coming soon. This really only narrows it down now to either a new show in the arena, new musical/action show on Main Street or potentially a new show put back into the theater by WWF.
  21. Movie World have provided some insight into the closure of Superman on this post: https://www.facebook.com/100044242655297/posts/pfbid02FMhC4bN4vTYvQwZmh8GvaciD1xYKSmYRPrxcj7aWYF4DeNJE4w4SarfEAcggTxcrl/? Thanks for taking an interest in our ride updates at Movie World. We are always working hard to give the best possible guest experience! 🎢 Attraction Update! Superman Escape at #movieworldaus is currently experiencing a closure. During this time, our team are working with the ride manufacturer in Europe to build, deliver and install the highest quality replacement parts. 🤔Did you Know? This iconic attraction is one of the last remaining hydraulic launch coasters in the world, making its components extremely unique, with replacement parts needing to be specially created by the ride manufacturer. While this process takes time, it ensures that when Superman Escape returns, it does so with the highest level of safety and performance. 💚 Further Attraction Updates! Our incredible maintenance team have completed Green Lantern Coaster’s annual maintenance ahead of schedule, and we’re excited to share this attraction is now open for guests to enjoy again. ✨Plus, later this year Australia’s no.1 family coaster SCOOBY-DOO! 22. Superman not looking good for a return anytime soon

  24. The park are finally teasing the new ride Perth Theme Parks also posted these construction photos last week
  25. I caught the end of it a few weeks ago. Yeah, you're pretty much spot on - it's a Tiger version of their usual Animal presentations. They must have baited the pole as the Tiger was climbing it right as I arrived. The keeper was very passionate and good with the kids who asked questions.
  26. Its my understanding the essential infrastructure for the fire ball still remains.
  27. Yeah thats the spot. pretty sure the old buildings were HWSD service facilities as the EVOs were stored out there a lot of the time. Pretty sure the new building was intended for float storage or something - it's got a pretty high clearance. I had thought they'd build that next to the service facility on the grass (I haven't been to the park in a while) but Skeets image shows they replaced one with the other so the effects \ pyro area looks like it's still intact for now.
