  1. I'm going to make a rule that you 2 aren't allowed to respond to each other. It just clogs the forums up with crap.

  2. And the fact that it's come to all this is friken sad. Something wrong in the world where you're assumed to be a pedo until proven otherwise

  3. I don't disagree with you, but at the same time, we've seen transport rides at all of our parks cut back or removed entirely when they reached end of life, rather than updating \ replacing. Skylink, Dreamworld Steam Trains, Sea World Trains, Sea World Skyway... given many other places are removing their monorail systems (sydney, jupiters), it'd be more likely the park scraps the attraction when it is no longer viable. I would like to see them invest in new fleet - and preferably buy 3 of them when the time comes so it is restored to the days of old (and as Rappa said earlier - bring them back to full speed too), but i'm reasonable enough to see how much money they've just blown elsewhere on property that it probably isn't going to happen in the next year or so - and in the meantime they need to 'life support' what they have as best as they can. ETA: If they've got the budget (which they probably don't), I'd like to see them install an 'exit only' station in the carpark too. It would help to empty the park whilst clearing the queue line, and could be 'reversed' to permit entry to after-hours events for reasonably small groups, to prevent guests from walking through areas of the park that aren't necessary - permitting construction or maintenance work to commence even when there is an event on.

  4. Looney Tunes was a dark ride suitable not just for kids, but for all guests. Shame they didn't replace it with something as good or better. Maybe one day.

  5. As far as I can tell Junior Driving School hasn’t done much/anything to increase attendance. Compare that to some of the kids area additions at DW that led to demonstrable attendance increases. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but IMO it is mostly a waste of space. I don’t know why they had to use so much of the show building. That space could really have been used for something superior. They could have even put a number of kids rides inside the building and made it a whole new precinct that would have been perfect for families in wet weather etc.

  6. I didn’t know that they worked there

  7. As Brad has pointed out, you're a one legged man in an arse kicking contest right now - you have no chance of winning against people who have been employed to operate the ride... But just in case somehow you still think you are correct, note that the 'mirror' never used to be there before the fire. Its a poor masking attempt to cover previous ride effects no longer in use, while giving you something to look at in a room that without it's effects is just a boring wood panelled room. If there WAS in fact an op booth there, it would have been there from the beginning, and since the mirror hasn't been there since the beginning, its implausible to suggest that they built a booth where there wasn't one before - without some hazard identifying a need for it.

  8. At the beach I lock everything except my car keys in the car, put the keys in a pocket of clothing I leave on the beach, and ensure I am able to see that clothing and reach it reasonably fast if necessary while in the water. I also only swim at a beach where there are very few people around. At the pool I use lockers. Some are free and the most I've paid is $4. Great idea! I usually avoid doing so, but thought I'd see if I could generate some sensible discussion. I'll refrain from doing so again!

  9. Then they should be investing in new trains so capacity is kept the same, not diminished to save a buck. It’s not like this happened all of a sudden and they have to find space in the budget, the trains have been in this state for some time and they would have known their life span was coming to an end.

  10. Look - the other day, Skeeta mentioned a 0.001% miracle idea opportunity - and today is the day you have that 0.001%. Its a great idea. I don't think Stars is the right fit for it - the ceiling is pretty low - although these days ultra short throw projection is possible, so who knows. I'd prefer it go into Rick's, with a complete redo of the building inside and out... but that's just my opinion. A friend of mine does projection mapping on his own house for christmas time, so if one guy in a garage can do it, surely MW could achieve it relatively easily. ..and then you go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like... If you didn't whine so much, just expressed your opinion \responded to opposing views instead of complaining how you're treated you might just enjoy yourself more. Like Alton Towers, we all very much know that you like, and visit it often. Thanks for the reminder though. Like most people, I've been to AOS a couple of times, and only ever when there is a different show to the last time - and I think that would be the case for most. You've hit the nail on the head that the mapping would be successful if it were different. You could even offer several different 'experiences' (shit, maybe Dreamworld should do it instead) on a menu at the front, so that when you are seated, it can be a different experience every time? It wouldn't be hard to automate a system for the wait staff to seat you, offer you your menu, and then when you've selected your experience, press a touch screen to cue it up. Generics, with seasonal offerings (an easy halloween and christmas generic would be perfect to start), and then you could also work on developing IP related experiences too - similar to the Arkham VR - you could have various DC experiences, Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo.. You could even have one developed around HWSD - where cars use your table as a race circuit. I think if they opened with one or two, and then slowly developed new ones every 6 months or so until they had a roster of about 10 to pick and choose from, and then seasonally or every couple of years they could refresh some of the least popular films with new ones (since they'd have usage stats on which ones are being watched more often). It would also 'bring the movies' back to the park - you could even do an experience where a film crew comes out onto the table, and sets up a film shoot!

  11. Well given the changes to the monorail were an insane knee jerk reaction from a questionable former management team following a completely not relatable accident at Disney World perhaps we could see some sanity in Monorail operations return at some point?

  13. Here's the original video for that which includes links to other things they have done. Biggest issue I would have with it is it would be a once and not return thing. I can appreciate what they are trying to do but outside of bringing others to see it there is no real appeal to me to visit multiple times.

  14. I think Adventure World has bigger ones than that. On the other hand, Kalamunda Water Park's lockers were only $1 each.

  15. With talk of a significant update to SDSC coming (Parkz interiew with Clark Kirby), I was thinking.. the previous version of the ride I interpreted as Scooby getting so scared, he runs away from the haunted castle ride and the gang joins him at a party* instead. I'd kinda like to see a more involved plot, where they catch a monster and reveal the villain. So in the queue you get a story of a monster and meet a few characters who set the story up. The part of the ride up to the elevator is Daphne, Fred and Velma decide to go one way, Scooby Doo, Shaggy and you go another. The elevator is a trap the monster sets, and the wild mouse element is a chase scene you often see in the tv show, where the monster chases Scooby and Shaggy. The turntable and hairpin corners are you avoiding the monster, with audio in straights of Fred, Daphne and Velma setting a trap for the monster. You catch the villain and reveal their identity before the 'surprise drop'. Maybe keep the MXPX music for the disembark station/walkway to the gift shop. * Unless the wild mouse section was always meant to reference a 'chase' scene?

  16. Summer & school holidays on the GC and we only have one operational water-based ride outside of the water parks. Craziness...

  19. If they really must charge for using lockers at Wet & Wild / Whitewater World, I think $1 or $2 would be reasonable. $10 though is just insane, and effectively means my annual passes do NOT really include the waterparks because I have to pay $10 every time I go.
