On the contrary, I wouldn't say it was unnecessary at all. I'm the crotchety old man that sits in the corner waggling his walking stick at the kids playing their records too loud, occasionally spouting pearls of wisdom that wise kids occasionally benefit from if they listen. The forums are a place for discussion - something each of us has equal right to do. ...And you don't contribute photos either - you contribute slideshows of photos and 5 second vine videos that are impossibly difficult to watch. You also create threads that are against the forum rules - such as this one - generically named 'dreamworld WWW update'. Honestly i'm surprised it's lasted this long as it is. I've tried to dialogue with you. Privately i've tried to explain to you what it is that you're doing that's annoying people. Several others have politely pointed it out, and you don't seem to get the message - so at that point you lose all restraint from me, and i'm gonna let you know about it. Honestly, this world is creating too many fucking snowflakes that think the world should adjust to suit them, instead of the other way around.5 points

I really like the look of the facade, even though it doesn't tie in with Green Bean Coffee, overall looks very nice. Not sure what everyone is complaining about?5 points

I’ve been waiting for someone to say this! I work with projection all the time and have seen just about every example of projection mapping ever - the quality of this apparent “refurb” is atrocious and I’ve seen better content created by students. It’s not even projection mapping technically speaking, because it’s not being mapped to anything. Projection is so easy to make look tacky and I think movie world have just shown that you’ll never beat the charm of a physical set.4 points
-
I think the main thing they’ve got wrong about this is that the projection mapping is mostly just on square walls. This just makes them look like a screen & really tacky. Projection mapping should be projected onto objects, which then bring that object to life.4 points

Welcome. Yes, we’ve been wondering that for sometime too.4 points

That's not really how it works in this industry though - what you're talking about is a refurbishment in which you replace/repair items needing it and potentially add some new touches. Know why they didn't just call it a refurbishment? Because they know nobody is motivated to visit on the basis of a refurbishment. They want new. Let's review how this was sold: Fan favourite? Well, that doesn't exactly fit with the idea of enthusiasts bitching about it, does it? Has this ride been completely transformed? Well, there's been negligible change in the ride's form, or function. If they recreated every set piece from scratch out of new materials, why should we care? What was promised was not what was delivered. Even if they could have rebuilt from the same plans, should they have?4 points

You are so unnecessarily rude to most people on this forum. You contribute no photos, just stupid comments and argumentive paragraphs.3 points

I think if all that had happened was the ride had closed for the normal scheduled maintenance period a couple of years ago when all the original themeing was in, and when it reopened the themeing was like it is now, I would have found that quite good. I would have regarded it as a nice little minor upgrade. What makes it so incredibly disappointing is the fact that it's been so long without any themeing at all, and we've been waiting very patiently after being told it was going to be "next generation". I was therefore expecting much more than a nice little minor upgrade!3 points

Right now the only People the Park is pissing off are Passholes that have little more to do than visit. And complain. Sorry Push but you are not their demographic. So long as they have everything running by Boxing Day, once the Interstaters arrive..2 points

Some new members who are respectful would be most welcome!2 points

Well, luckily for you the ride is filled with physical sets too - obviously lovingly restored from the original plans (and with more details added). Regarding downtime - I struggle to think of any international park that has opened a new (or newly re-worked) attraction without intermittent closures due to technical difficulties during opening weeks.1 point

As opposed to it sitting as a stripped out shell? You are familiar with how advertising works right? Tell the truth with creative licence. They did everything they promised. It has been transformed. It has new technology, and whether you like them or not, the effects are improved. I think people are remembering what scooby was like in its prime, not what it was like when it closed initially to be gutted. Sets may have looked good but everything else was a mess and what effects hadnt been removed was very hit and miss. To get an opened, functioning ride with working effects, some of which is new technology, combined with a set that looks very similar to old is a infinitely better than the state of the ride the day it suddenly closed and was gutted. The fact it has working effects in multiple areas is a huge improvement than its ever been in the last decade. Its arguably the best it has ever been, even if it fell short of expectation. It might not be what some people want or what a lot on here were expecting, but you have to be a little realistic too.1 point

I foresee that space to get a giant LED screen as you can see it all the way down to The Claw. You heard it here first.1 point

Whilst the petty bullying was continuing as it does, this missed line pretty much sums up the park right now.1 point

I've met Pushbutton in the same sense that you've met AlexB. They're both online personas, and in an online world, yes, we've both met. Has Andy met Alex? No. But that's irrelevant to the point.1 point

That's rich coming from a person who sarcastically commented "closed today. awesome" on a ride that's in technical rehearsal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technical_rehearsal Before major attractions celebrate their grand opening, they open periodically to the public during the two or three week period leading up to the grand opening. This allows the park to get team members fully trained in running the attraction with actual guests, and it also allows the park to work out any remaining kinks in the system. These unannounced, unpublished openings are often called soft openings. The catch is that there is never a schedule given to the public, and these rehearsals may last an hour, a few hours, or just a few minutes… it all depends on how much training is needed and whether or not problems develop. *(It is a contrast that the WMBW social media team announced it was open to social media, instead of 'soft open' - so the first word you get of technical rehearsal is at the ride entrance - so boo to the park) Honestly - although you've only posted a couple of times, you've been a member for at least a month. I'd have thought you'd have at least a basic idea of the vibe here. If you're going to walk into the middle of a conversation and then expect everyone to change how they're conversing because you don't like it - you're gonna have a bad time.1 point

Yeah, I wasn't even incredibly fussed (I was a little bit though) about Sky Voyager next to Green Bean. The only bit I don't like is the overlap. Other than that though, I think it looks great!1 point

I’m pretty disappointed, having driven from Brisbane to check it out. I mean I’m a grown up with no kids so overall I can do other stuff, but it sucks for kids who were hyped up for it. Such is life. Why is this forum so perpetrually mad?1 point

Throwback to those days where people tried to theme things to a proper 'main street' where a 'red zone' in American meant 'no parking'. I'll bet the people responsible for things like that have no idea as to the backstory or significance of it, and just keep repainting it because the gutter has always been red...1 point

Whilst on the surface, it doesn't appear that they've done much - Every. Single. Set. Piece. Has. Been. Recreated. From. Scratch. Out. Of. New. Materials. While it looks the same, it's hardly "minor". While you only see the additions - the projection, the screen, etc - what you're not seeing is that EVERYTHING is new. Would you have considered it 'minor' to completely gut Bermuda Triangle, and replace everything with identical, but new copies of everything? I haven't seen it with my own eyes, so i'm only going off descriptions from others and the few POVs captured so far, so i'm not judging it until I see it for myself. I feel that some of the criticism seems like it is justified, some of it is enthusiasts being picky, and some is just downright ridiculous for anything but a Disney park. Sure, its absolutely not ideal that the ride was stripped for so long - but by all accounts this was due to a safety concern. Unless you're in the business of set design and construction, you can't possibly know how long it should take, or why it took so long if it took longer than it should have. How long did Scooby take to construct when it was first built? How much of that was actual track build, and how much was theming? We've seen coasters go up super quick - and in the soundstage, weather isn't a factor - so the actual build time would be quite short, yet, as I recall - construction took a fair while...1 point

Level crossings outside of theme parks work the exact same way. Our family has a farm on the other side of a level crossing and if the train is stopping at the station, the gates will come down as it approaches, the train stops, unloads, loads, and then passes through the crossing - but the station is not a busy one, and most trains express straight through it. As mentioned above - its a couple of minutes a couple of times an hour. The system needs to be automatic. We cannot have safety systems that rely on manual intervention (ie, a train driver triggering it when he's ready to leave the station) because we've seen how well that worked on TRRR. There isn't enough space after the station for the train to roll on and trigger the gates before it reaches the crossing, and it isn't safe to roll forward, trigger the gates, and then stop to wait for them to close - as passengers (who are next to the station) may attempt to get off, which the driver may not see, which would be unsafe also. Bottom line is a few minutes waiting at a boom gate isn't the worst thing that could happen to you at Dreamworld - so perhaps be patient. I do think, however, that Dreamworld would do well to put some sort of activity or feature at that location for people to kill the time - perhaps little cutouts people can put their head through and pose for a photo? Maybe a train history board that talks about the history of the Dreamworld Railway? Just something to kill the time...1 point

Yeah. I mean - it's not like he's shooting down the parks for building thrill rides which appeal to their core demographic, and whining when it isn't a dark ride or a walkthrough - that'd be absurd! Unless you're Disney, everyone can do better with theming than they do. We have no idea how much this cost, but the entire sets have been completely rebuilt from the original plans, and they've integrated new technology. By the sounds, it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but isn't it just like enthusiasts to bitch about what they get simply because they wanted better?1 point

They could've done so much better with the theming , it's a real shame.1 point

Sorry if this sounds pedantic, but it is actually important to search for the correct thing in order to find what you're looking for. Tops was actually never in Myer, which is a department store. It was in the Myer Centre, which is a shopping centre. If you try searching for Tops in the Myer Centre you might have more luck finding the information you're looking for!1 point

I’m honestly surprised how little love some of the new effects are getting from you guys. A few things that standout to me as good additions- The ‘reflection’ of your car with the monsters chasing after it is awesome, very Haunted Mansion-esque; I like that they’ve added more interest to the lift with the inclusion of Scrappy Doo, rather than just having the car sitting there waiting for the next car to join it; and I’m a fan of the final tropical/Spooky Island scene just before the exit platform — glad they put that back in but re-worked it.1 point

Dreamworld still have a Gold Rush Country sign even though most of it is gone. Also you can't walk on this path due to construction. "It isn't safe" yet staff are allowed and there is a construction barrier. Also this train gate almost hit guest when the train stops way before at the station. Exhibition Centre out of place in a theme park Lazy river1 point

MUCH better than their last attempt, which was a cringe-worthy rip-off of a Warner Bros Movie song. This one looks original, and fun. I do think it's a bit odd that it makes no reference to SkyVoyager though.1 point

In stark contrast to the very funny announcements referred to earlier in this thread, a couple of the staff who do the announcements on the train really need some training! I'm on the train now and the guy sounds utterly bored by everything at Dreamworld!0 points
