I know it's a sensitive topic, but it'd be crazy to get rid of a water ride at a Gold Coast theme park and not replace it with another water ride. Especially one that caters so well to a broad market.

You're right. I certainly can't visualise that perhaps the serpent\kraken\leviathan\creature could be the track itself, with the car a ship\boat carrying passengers through treacherous waters suddenly being attacked by the creature... A ship shaped train has no place on a ride themed to a sea serpent or a kraken Or a leviathan (these are all the first image results on google for 'sea serpent attack' 'kraken attack' and 'leviathan attack')

If it's Leviathan wouldn't it be themed like a serpent not a ship?

Yeah nah. No way would in this day and age would a Theme Park head honcho leak business plans years out. If anything it's a red herring.

This is not a Mum and dad business selling hotdogs at community events. It’s a multimillion dollar business on an international scale. There would 100% be solid, but malleable, plans and timelines in place for rides and park developments.

A few years back the owner of Scenic World was pictured with a Premier Rides executive at an AALARA event years ago. This needless to say didnt imply anything. Neither will this I imagine. Anything could happen. MW won't be getting anything major until when the time comes to replace AA, which I don't think will be for another five years at least. Given Village has dropped a good $80+ million in the last three years or so in park investment, it should be reasonable to expect them to tone the spending down for the next few years. I wouldn't be surprised to hear if there was no plans at all for MW's next roller coaster given they dont look to replace Road Runner.

This is better themed to a Pirate themed ride. Leviathan to me evokes a Sea Serpent / Kraken type of theme.

Don't worry, Timberliners are definitely a more pleasant ride than Maurer's terrible trains.

It does certainly look that way - especially when you see so much love and attention going in to WWW + with the addition of new Slides and possible Night Show location for Summer. I believe they haven't 100% made up their minds on what to do with the LR yet, given the current "closed for maintenance" advice. Baring in mind it's condition and undoubtedly high Insurance cost, it's fair to assume this will be the next one to go.

Getting the signage down before the peak holiday season helps to forget that it is there, rather than have people, who don't know the ride has closed for good, turn up expecting to ride.
