  1. Yokohama Cosmoworld takes about an hour to get to from Tokyo. https://www.parkz.com.au/parks/JP/Yokohama/Yokohama_Cosmoworld/ Don't bother coming here if its raining because the star attraction will be closed. It took a couple of bites of the cherry at this place, the first attempt was on my 2nd day in Japan, but it was raining so I got on one ride. The 2nd attempt was on my final day, I went down hoping to combine it with a visit to Sea Paradise, but when I got to the station near Sea Paradise a sign informed that both Blue Fall and Surf Coaster were both closed for refurb, so I turned on my heel and went back to Cosmoworld. Family Banana Coaster did run in the rain, so I got that on my first go. The highlight was being asked if I was drunk (Which i later discovered they ask on every ride) so they weren't paying me out for riding a kiddy coaster. The park is different to what I expected. Theres one compact luna park sized block that has the giant wheel, Vanish and the spinning coaster, plus a multi level buildings with arcades and indoor stuff. The other section is on the other side of a water body (sort of like Darling Harbour) and contains mostly flat rides. You walk along a public street between the two parts. On my second visit I rode the famed Diving Coaster Vanish. It's a bit uncomfortable because the depth between the upper part of the seat and the top of the OTSR is not sufficient (why did they make them so thick?) so you get a lot of pressure on your upper chest and collarbones. The ride is a bit rough too. It starts with a slow lift, then a couple of hills and dips, before finally doing the main drop into the tunnel with fountains. After you emerge on the other side you bang your way around a helix and the ride was over. Go there to take a photo and impress your friends, dont go there for the actual coaster lol. They also had a Spinning Coaster , and like other rides of this type in Japan, the spinning is mostly deactivated save for a short section right at the end of the ride...Guess locals spew more easily. The log flume didn't appeal due to the cold weather, but I thought the feature that scores your scream volume was amusing. I was a bit ferris wheeled out by this point to. They had an enormous enterprise ride. Overall the park looked quite smart. Would I recommend coming here? Only if you are already in Yokohama, or if you are eager to see Diving Coaster: Vanish for yourself.

  2. Finally got the chance to drive the hour and a half to Northam and ride the slides. It’s a really nice new aquatic centre that replaces the old Olympic Pool on the other side of town. It’s $5 for pool entry for adults and another $5 for a 2 hour session on the slides. The weather in Perth has been awful this past week, so the sun actually turned up, today, and there was a top of 27 degrees. The water isn’t heated, so this temperature was just fine. We arrived just after the start of the morning two hour slide session(10-12 and 2-4pm on weekends) and I wouldn’t have seen more than 5 people on the slides and probably another ten in the rest of the pool complex. The four slides come off a three storey tower and thankfully they all land into the shallow splash pool from the same direction. There’s a small kids slide on the first floor. A light blue/teal open slide on the second floor, and darker blue and light green enclosed slides from the third floor. The young staff were helpful, chatty and relaxed. The blue slides are the quickest, faster than the Gold Rush at Outback Splash. The green slide was wider, like it was meant for tubes, and runs out of puff just before the end. There’s definitely more to do here if you’re a single rider than Outback Splash. The slide tower is pretty narrow, but does the job. The enclosed tubes have a decent length of time in the dark. The tower is surrounded by a lovely little native garden and there are plenty of shaded areas for families to gather. The whole complex looks pristine and puts the rest of Northam to shame. It’s got a lot going for it, considering its price point. The local community should be very happy with this investment.

  3. I’m so excited for the new paint job!! Gunna look so fresh!! Now that the Hot Wheels theme is now no more, I’m assuming there will be new trains?? I’m excited to see the completed refurbishment, There’s just something about this Classic Arrow coaster that I love. Can’t wait to ride it again at the end of the year, assuming they get it back up and running by then

  5. Maybe some of you may think a little differently if you remember that the engineering manager was previously a supervisor at movieworld, so standing there saying you didnt know you needed to do risk assessments, had no formal process for modifying or documenting repairs or didnt know it was part of your job just doesnt fly. Id be willing to bet money there is paperwork burried within the archives at vrtp that has his name on a bunch of processes doing exactly those things. It's lucky the coroner didnt hand down a reccomendation OIR seek to prosecute individual people because he might have been in a lot of trouble if they went digging for evidence. Edit: by saying that i mean it potentially shows someone was negligent in their duties and can be legally held accountable.

  6. Why would you think that? FWIW I don't really rate the all cars different colours thing going on. I get it for the theme of toy cars and it's not the absolute worst out there, but I don't really rate it. I'd be pleased if they did give the train a consistent colour scheme, but it doesn't massively matter to me.

  7. There's probably less people there when the park is open

  8. The current Vekoma rolling stock is under 5 years old, in good shape and runs perfectly fine. Why even bother unless DW suddenly want to spend the money buying new Arrow style trains from Sunkid with lap bars (picture below), an upgrade that is totally unnecessary. I don't have many problems with the vest restraints though. I'd take them over the old trains any day.

  12. Probably because people stop flogging a dead horse when the joke wasn't even that good to begin with.
