So there is now orange track on site (Easy to mistake for orange safety webbing when you are whizzing by at a distance on the M1)5 points

And here’s my contribution from this morning too4 points

Going off recent drawings which were stumbled upon, I believe it is safe to assume the "Steel Taipan" name.3 points

Thanks mate! Nice clear numbers on the track pieces there too. Wish Skeet was around - As we know Rivals track numbering started from the station point and moved forward - I wonder how this one is numbered, given the reverse spike launch at the start, which one is 1 (probably station) but then how do the numbers go for the reverse spike section?2 points

The article points out a disparity between the colour and the supposed name. Did we ever get anything other than the trademark registration to point to 'steel taipan' ? is it possible this is the 'gold' coaster, and not the new theme for Cyclone?2 points

@Dwfan awesome find and based off those sections I like to look of the station. Good to see rather than just a boxed building there is some aesthetic detail to it1 point

Im curious, when can we expect them to start construction?1 point
-
Yeah, sorry about that, I forgot to turn off "Aussie mode"1 point

I'm not so sure @Gazza. I reckon it might. The longer that park stays closed the better its chances. Mean minimal disruption to day to day operation means they can freely move around the worksite. I would assume this indeed meaning taking some time off the total build time.1 point

Whilst I get what you are saying Alexb, for a park that is so crampt, I feel it’s a piss weak excuse to have such prime real estate as “parade storage and maintenance” when that building was originally a ride accessible to everyone. I agree, they would be reluctant to give up that space, but a creative thinking management could be using that space for so much more, whilst also finding a new space for the parade floats to sit. Does anyone know where Parade floats were stored and maintained in the glory days when LTRR was a thing?1 point

Some comments I’ll add. The smaller green building is the control booth. I can’t tell if it’s been painted green or covered in foam to be moulded, etc. The bigger building, is that to do with the mechanic of the ride or could it be for the queue area? From what I could see (which wasn’t a lot), there didn’t seem to be anything in there. If in fact it is the queue building and it creates a pre-show in some way, that should be awesome. It does also appear there will be fountains under/around the ride too. I do also hope they create a great entrance for the whole precinct. And not just have a sign like they did for COTD. It needs to set the atmosphere and style for the theme/story of the precinct1 point

Imagine if DW took this concept and technology and did it for the Big Red Car Ride. Just imagine.1 point

I think it’s safe to say that the rides theming will not look anything like the concept art1 point

So great to have the Wipeout back and great to finally see vertical construction 4 months late1 point

With the other demolition works happening throughout the park right now, there is a chance it will be demolished soon. But I’d say they are just removing the ride signage for now (basically so it’s not advertising the ride) and it will be demolished at a later date1 point
-
Finally... that’s been a long time coming. Most likely related to it being around the area of the entrance to the new coaster. I wonder if we will finally see Blue Lagoon demolished in the near future1 point

When I visited in early December the queue for backwards riding was about a dozen people long and it took almost an hour to get through, with two trains1 point

Of the four versions of the name, which one do people prefer? Gold Coaster GoldCoaster The Gold Coaster The GoldCoaster1 point
-
Great to see it finally receiving a fresh coat of paint. But it definitely doesn’t rule out that name. Maybe the tracks colour will alternate between yellow and blue? Considering four different versions of the Gold Coaster name have been listed for trademarking, it’s pretty much confirmed at this stage, that will be its new name1 point

There no way in hell there gonna start construction this month. There’s still more pieces to arrive and some are still probably being shipped from Germany to Australia. so that is why I said late July early august. if they do they can still open up Jan-feb 2021 which still a good time since it will still be school holidays.0 points

So hang on they're doing a snake thing likey they already did once that looked like shit with the a rainbow Serpent, at the same time SW is doing an abstract steel frame thing as the entrance to Atlantis precinct. Is fucking ANYONE trying any more?0 points

While this project by Griffith students does not confirm every aspect on the new area and some elements are likely to change, one interesting part states So it seems likely that the monorail is closed for good, despite my original comments/post being shut down by VRTP0 points
