  2. Hey @Bikash Randhawa. For the last few years there has been plenty of discussion on here about Wet n Wild and how it comes across as the forgotten park for VRTP. I'm sure this isn't necessarily the case, but since 2011/12 there hasn't been that great of investment in the park. Bringing back Dive n Movies was a fantastic decision and seemed to be very popular. But having visited the park a few times over the summer, there are some areas that seemed to be overlooked/lacking. For example, the Zipline tower was installed and has remained unused since 2012 and for such a prime location for the park, I would have thought this would have been a priority to remove (particularly during the time when the shelters were installed around the wave pool). Obviously getting new attractions takes time, but it's been a few years since Mach 5 closed and to my knowledge has remained untouched. Some of the attractions also need some attention, as their colouration has weathered well (Eg. Constrictor, Aqualoop and Tornado). And the waterfall at Calypso Beach was also removed a few years ago, but hasn't yet been replaced, despite the structural elements remaining. It was great to see the entire Aqua Racer replaced a couple years ago and that definitely brought a new life to the attraction. With such major investments in Movie World and Sea World over recent years, new attractions every year aren't expected, but it seems like it has been 8 years since any major investments into the park. Basically, I would just like to hear your thoughts on the park, some of the items I've touched on and the comments about it being the 'forgotten' park. Cheers.

  3. Mr Magician, as your name says, we have plans for WNW, yes it needs love and we will bring that back, again let’s deal with sea world first and then WNW, what we have planned is out if this world and I hope we can deliver this soon. It will be a Southern Hemisphere first that’s for sure. After a lot of sessions with manufacturers overseas and here we believe we are on the right track to make this Park where it deserves to be. Will not happen overnight but yes it’s on our radar 100%

  4. It's hard to believe the last new major slide was Constrictor almost 8 years ago. They did get WnW Jr, but most of us would be too old to benefit from that. And Super 8 got its fibreglass replaced, but is ultimately the same experience. Why isn't WnW, Australia's biggest water park getting big new Proslides like the water parks in Victoria, or themed ones like Jamberoo? Don't forget Mach 5 was closed and visitors were left without a replacement.

  5. Went to Sealife at Sunny Coast today. Venue is all indoors. Had to pre-book an entry time (seems to be 40-50 slots per halfhour). Was temperature checked before gaining entry. Stickers on all the floors marking spaces to stand and distancing. Some smaller areas closed, but seemed to be all up and running ok.

  6. Never say never as I say we are planning to only make things bigger and better, it’s all about timing and investment. I strongly believe that Atlantis is the start to something special moving forward. Yes we are working together and we believe that together we can make this industry strong. This pandemic certainly interrupted and affected everyone. I did not for one second initially think much of it along with a ton of people that I know. I strongly believe that collaborating with competitors appropriately is beneficial, technology, safety, sharing of knowledge is a good thing. @Jpw25111 not yet...

  7. From The Illawarra Mercury: The Eddy Group Of Companies now include, apart from Jamberoo Action Park: Belmore All-Suites Hotel (Jamberoo's own Sea World Resort though it's located 20km away in Wollongong like the rest of their companies). To the best of my knowledge, they have owned this hotel since before the mid-2000's. City Beach Function Centre - wasn't original owner but did buy it in recent years. I think he wanted to add a light show to the building. Located immediately next to Wollongong's Flagstaff Hill to the south on the northern end of Wollongong's South Beach. Steamers Bar & Grill - located in the same building as City Beach Function Centre. Longboard Cafe - located in the same building as City Beach Function Centre.

  8. I've put together a quick consolidated knowledge-base for guests & members to stay up to date with the latest COVID-19 related impacts to the country's major theme parks & water parks. This initial post will be updated periodically. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Timeline for parks to re-open (last updated, 16th June, 2020 @ 9:58pm) On the 8th May, prime minister Scott Morrison announced the easing of COVID-19 related restrictions in Australia, which included amusement parks as a part of stage 2 of 3 of the easing plan. At present, this plan is being implemented at the state level, and as such, each state is progressing with this plan on a different timeline based on a myriad of factors, including (but not limited to) active cases of COVID-19 and the rate of infection in the community. However, as of the 13th May, it's been noted in the media that many larger businesses (including our theme parks) may not re-open during stage 2 due to the 20-person limit that was outlined in the plan, making it fiscally impossible to operate during stage 2 or even into stage 3. In a previous thread, it was noted that some larger venues (like our theme parks) may be exempt from this 20-person limit subject to a COVID-Safe plan approved by the government. This however has yet to be clarified upon by the government, and as such, there is no confirmed timeline or date that are our parks will re-open on at this stage. Amusement parks (in particular Gold Coast theme parks) are working with the government to develop and approve COVID Safe plans to re-open for September School Holidays. Village Roadshow Theme Parks hope to re-open Sea World first in early July, followed by Warner Bros. Movie World & Wet 'n' Wild in time for September school holidays. Village Roadshow Theme Parks have announced re-opening dates for their parks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Below is an updated list of major parks and their current state of re-opening. I'll continue to update with links and updates from the discussion. (last updated, 16th June, 2020 @ 9:58pm) Queensland Dreamworld: Closed WhiteWater World: Closed Warner Bros. Movie World: Re-opens 15th July Sea World: Re-opens 26th June Wet 'n' Wild Gold Coast: Re-opens 15th July Paradise Country: Re-opens 26th June Australian Outback Spectacular: Re-opens 3rd July Top Golf - Open Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary - Re-opens 26th June Australia Zoo - Open New South Wales Luna Park Sydney: Closed Raging Waters: Closed Victoria Funfields: Closed Luna Park Melbourne: Closed Western Australia Adventure World: Closed Sidenote: a reminder to all to keep this apolitical. Parkz is about having fun, not doxxing those you disagree with. If you're not sure about what's allowed to be posted, our community guidelines are a great read if you're bored during lockdown.

  9. I've refreshed the original post with updated dates and links. Does anyone know how our non-QLD parks are doing? If there's a regional park that's not on the list that you think is worth a mention let me know.

  10. Australia Zoo is more or less passive also. They have had to stay open for staff to feed, care for and clean the animals during the shut down. That includes continuing to do their presentations and enrichment activities as the animals are used to it. Additionally a lot of the staff at Australia Zoo are actually volunteers. Allowing public just lets them offset some of the costs and being to the zoo many times (6 year old loves it), the whole zoo has large open areas, and the stadium always has many spare seats. The only areas that would need more work are the transport buses around the park, the otter and tiger shows and possibly the snake enclosure but only QLD locals attending would mean they should be fine for now.

  11. Perth Zoo opened on Saturday. There was no limit on numbers, but you did have to book ahead. The indoor areas like the nocturnal and reptile houses were closed. https://www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au/Pages/McGowan/2020/06/Perth-Zoo-reopens-to-the-public.aspx

  13. Thanks for the reply @Bikash Randhawa It would be a shame to lose the monorail, after all I believe it recently had a complete mechanical overhaul. Not only is it a historic attraction for Australia (being the first and only remaining Monorail) but also as a vital transport attraction for your park. Sea World is a very big park, and after already losing both the Sky High Chairlift, and the Sea World Railway, it would leave the park without any transport for its guests. If the monorail is indeed not to return, I hope Sea World is able to afford and install a new, innovative and World class transportation attraction. One more question to bring this back to Covid (perhaps there should be an “ask Bikash” thread on this website? Are you, as the GC’s Tourism Leaders, working with your opponents (Ardent plus other organisations) to ensure tourism thrives in a post covid world? Do you feel the requirements thrust upon your industry in response to Covid-19 are over the top at all? Best of luck and thank you for answering my question.

  14. It’s always interesting to see a park like this come up with designs (and probably build them) far more imaginative and immersive than our major parks can manage for a water park.

  15. That title is a dubious one at best. How some of the world's most amazing cities were beaten by Hipsters who like to deconstruct their toast is beyond me.
