  1. Ouch. Steel Taipan's opening could be scrutinised if this continues on. This summer school holidays is very important to perfect (possibly the most important summer) as it could determine the parks future. If people visit Dreamworld to experience the new Steel Taipan but find out that the rest of the park is in bad shape (closed/dormant rides, food and shopping outlets and attractions), they probably won’t return. First impression is very important to perfect as we have seen. Considering how small Dreamworld's attraction line up is now, there is very little room for error.

  2. Bruh DW and SW had water parks for most of their history in parallel with the log rides. Heck even SW the old slides were on the same castle as the flume ride. Not everyone wants to muck around getting into swimmers, sometimes its just fun to ride in boat.

  3. To transition from DW to WWW isn’t as simple as just walking over there and going on a couple water slides. You need to bring swimmers, get changed, slide, dry off, get changed again and go back to DW. Unless you go to DW in your swimmers! A theme park needs a water attraction. Every major park in the world that I can think of has a water ride. MW does. SW had 3 (Storm, Vikings and Battle Boats). DW had 2. And they were the most popular rides in the park.

  4. Everyone One of the strangest comments I have ever read on here.

  5. It’s very interesting. I think there is more interest in WHERE this ride will go than the actual ride itself! At the end of the day , we can only trust the info we have received. I have now heard it from 2 sources but until it’s announced officially, there is always going to be that sliver of doubt. Even though the ride is a massive one trick pony, I am glad that it appears to be staying in Australia and the positive implications this has for the industry as a whole. This means that some regional park will be gaining a quantum leap in ride offering. Be it Gumbuya, Funfields, Adventure Park or even LPM, this is a pretty savvy purchase and it’s mere presence at any of these parks will generate positive public perception.

  6. I'd rather have a custom family thrill water ride than a thrilling water coaster to be honest. Yes Dreamworld is lacking in thrill attractions but they are also lacking in family thrill attractions. A custom log flume will also give Dreamworld the chance to expand it's snake themed area and draw more families towards that area too. Dreamworld's main theme is Australia and there are many places to theme a log flume to in Australia. I would see a Ultra Surf better fitted in Ocean Parade rather then Rocky Hollow.

  7. I just broke my controller pressing X to doubt. Even as someone who literally lives in boardshorts and has an annual pass, i feel no compulsion to go next door. I line up for an hour, hit the bottom in seconds, dry off lining up, rinse and repeat. IMHO theres only 1 reason worth going there for and its only theming is coloured tubes and angry eyes on a shade cloth. Water rides in dry parks should have 2 objectives- cool you off in some degree and break up your day. anything past that is a bonus and normally a drawcard. I'd love to see WWF at DW, it would tick the 2 boxes and more, on the other hand that ride style shouldnt go into a waterpark for obvious reasons. Are you also saying WWF should close cause WnW is a carpark away? In summer the parks lines are going to blow out, more so with any social distancing requirements that remain post Dec 17. A water ride in that park is nessecary cause people are going to be in lines all day and you need something to cool off and break up the day, especially when your only indoor attraction now is only 10 mins tops of 22°C air. Hardly enough to cool down in for those from the south.

  9. Already done but not all councils make the information public.

  10. Correct. Many years ago I got in touch with the park directly and was told that Space Probe was scrapped.

  11. That's simply not true. Here's an article from a reputable news source. Here's their data. Vaccines lower transmission rates and enormously lower your risk of death if you are infected. Here's another article from another reputable news source. Here's supporting data. You are correct - it's 100% a choice. Societies are full of choices - when you get on a road, you agree to the rules we as a society agree upon (don't drink and drive, don't speed etc.) - if you don't like those rules, you're welcome to challenge them and/or simply choose not to participate. The thing I loathe about the "democracy is over because they're forcing me to get vaccinated" argument is that while everyone is protesting about faux government over-reach, the government is actually over-reaching and no one is blinking an eye about it.

  12. Agree with this. If it were discriminatory - something someone couldn't help about themselves, but not getting vaxxed is a choice, and those choices come with consequences. You can't have your cake and eat it too. No doubt - i feel more safe knowing unvaccinated folks will be excluded from the theme parks, and I for one will be more inclined to visit regularly knowing those restrictions are in force.

  13. About time. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 As of 17th Dec, folks need to be fully vaccinated to enter Queensland anyway so it'll affect a whole lot of 0% of interstate travellers. As for Queenslanders, if you're part of the tiny fraction of folks who think vaccines are bad, speak to a trusted GP and get vaccinated. Vaccine hesitancy and vaccine mandates aren't a new thing. All in all, i'm very doubtful it'll impact business in a meaningful way, and these kinds of mandates have shown to increase vaccination rates, which is a really good thing.

  14. Can confirm there's a little train in there that used to go semi-regularly out onto that little bridge. I'm almost certain it's on a basic timer from memory. It's essentially just a little circular model train track that plugs into 240v. Was working up until Happy Halloween 2019, it was unplugged for lights and wasn't plugged back in. I think i've pointed it out once or twice before on here and usually Dreamworld are pretty good in taking feedback from here and using it to improve the park, so there's probably a good reason why it's not running again yet (probably the overgrowth). Fun fact - neither the train or the climbing fig were opening day touches. Not sure if they're a later John Longhurst addition or not, my guess would be yes given how nuts he is about trains. I've added some photos of the station in from one of the books John's loaned me. Would love to see it return to these more traditional colours too, along with the hanging baskets etc.

  16. I'm not interested in the covid vaccine debate in terms of choice - but it's a choice. As a vaccinated person you are just as likely to get covid from a vaccinated person than from a non-vaccinated. You are mingling with unvaxxed people every day now, and will be until the 17th. In my opinion its a giant crock of shit. You are all entitled to your opinions, i respect them, but i personally disagree with segregating society and moving backwards as a state.
