  3. You can't really put it anywhere else on that side of the park easily. As a temporary measure I have no issue with it being where it is. Sure that side of the park is getting crowded but given the distance from the existing Tiger Island and vet facilities putting something in somewhere like the old Blue Lagoon area would make it quite the trek to get the tigers on display there and it isn't exactly the easiest place to get to and from quickly should something happen.

  5. So what you're saying is for the coaster to be considered one of the world's best, ....... it has to be one of the world's best....

  6. It's interesting. If its permanent then I'm with slick on finding a better location. If all of this is temporary then WAY TO GO Dreamworld for doing such a good job on a temporary setup.

  7. I never got to visit the old Movie World, seems like i missed out on a lot. Looks and sounds like it was a lot more immersive back in the day.

  8. Yep - seeing the actual Oz Zoo enclosure I realise my memory was poor. I remembered the height of the glass, but didn't even realise the mesh \ whatever was there on those. The handlers do take the tigers on walks through the park, and for special groups - two guys, both with chain in hand. I realise with a full park it's much different, and you wouldn't want to startle them, but i do hope they find some way to still demonstrate \ show \ view the tigers whilst their home is being renovated.

  9. You reckon? I wouldn't be too confident in my safety if the adult tigers were behind a structure only that tall. They stretch on their hind legs at least as tall as that. I LOVE tigers but not enough to want be running from/with one through the park

  10. There will be very very limited tiger displays at the lair while the refurb is underway. TI will not be extended but stadium style seating is coming and say goodbye to the Bengal Tea House P.S Deborah has changed this park around unlike previous management

  11. Village Roadshow half year results came out today, no announcements but some points to consider - Gold Coast attendance up 2.8% on the prior half year. Wet 'n' Wild Sydney attendance down 23.4%, attributed to poor weather rather than disgruntled customers. Memberships are expected to drive sales, suggesting that aren't going anywhere despite the current campaign suggesting otherwise. Carnivale confirmed for April. More theme park announcements in "...the next few months".

  14. Yes, the last shot is more recent. That is were the cage full of cars was in the original queue set up. when the moved the entrance for Lethal Weapon to the side (its current entry), they removed the cars and that is what is pictured. that area is now the main queue of AA were all the prison cells are.

  15. I would have thought, given a steam engineer needs suitable experience and qualifications, and a dreamworld ride operator main requirements are breathing and over 18 would mean the engineer would receive some form of 'skilled' pay increase. Sure, I guess when he's driving the diesel it doesn't matter - but on days he operates the steamer, he should be remunerated for the extra care, skill, and let's face it - risk - undertaken by the operator. So in conclusion - either the steam engineer was already on site operating DW X at the time, or the Baldwin didn't enter service until the following day. Either way that answers my questions.

  16. Remember of course too that this development isn't just a ride, or a building. This is a habitat. They have to be careful that there are no materials used that the tigers are exposed to which could make them sick, so some things may have to be done differently to cater to that. These walls shown in Ninja's picture above - they almost look tall enough to accommodate the adult tigers... possibility?

  19. OMG Push you make my head hurt. Perhaps they can build the world's best museum on monorail technology from the 80s? For the rest of us we know it's a coaster, because the DA is in for a coaster. As for the studios, don't worry about the productions, they come and go and even a 'permanent fence' being built and removed is small change for a major film budget. For all we know the fences are to keep the film academy peeps out!! The outdoor tank usually films at night if sound is an issue, because as someone mentioned the park and M1 noise are significant anyway. However most shots done there are big exteriors and sound isn't a focus.
