  2. A dive turn would be epic IMO for the turnaround. They contain so much airtime, they look intimidating to the GP and it would add a unique element to the ride that not many coasters have.

  3. Hey guys, all these "reputation" posts are getting a bit old, and are uninteresting to most readers.

  4. I've got a feeling that this would have something to do with what happened at Dreamworld. Like Thunder River, the Flume at Sea World is an in-house design. The cost of insuring an in-house is probably about to go through the roof. The other thing if something were to happen, Sea World would be fully exposed. You'd hope that they do whatever they can to get the ride running again, whether that be getting outside risk assessor and engineers to sign off on the ride/design or getting on the phone to MACK about refurbishing/rebuilding the ride. It's not really something that Sea World can afford to lose in it's current depleted state.

  5. Thing is if a ride is well designed and maintained and age isn't really something that makes a ride more dangerous. Sure you have to replace components as they reach the end of their service life, but just because a ride is old doesn't mean it's dangerous. On the other hand, shoot the rapids at Cedar Point. Replacing an older ride with a new one is fine too. But we're still waiting for replacements for the Corkscrew, Skyway, Pirate Ship, Train and the Plunge. Closing one of the few rides left in the park would be an incredibly poor move.

  6. two most recent major ride incidents at our parks include: Accident on TRRR - a ride over 30 years old Accident on GL - A ride less than 5 years old. Age isn't the factor here. Otherwise LPM would have to close the scenic railway.

  7. Haven't been on this site for about 8 years but have come back to give my 2c I'm still stunned at the combine harvester a.k.a the conveyor. Im amazed riders were exposed to such a savage machinery. "What ifs" should have been discussed during the hazard identifying process. Did they even have hazard identifying/control measure inspections like at any other workplace? What if a rider hopped out onto the conveyor? What if a raft flipped on the conveyor? What if any person or anything got caught in the conveyor? Due to the lack of restraints and easy access to the conveyor these situations should have been identified as possible and a risk. I find it hard to believe none of these questions were even asked or if they were no control measures put in place

  8. Ryande 16 has really improved from what he/she used to be on parkz. You do not deserve negative rep, and have been talking real well on this thread not being an idiot anymore. Well done????? now if the coaster was as high as ur negative it would have to be renamed "abyss the 2nd"

  9. Yeah my drawing is really just to get an estimate of length. That support could be for a helix maybe or just extra supports.

  10. Not going to be good for SW if this is removed. Especially when the Commonwealth games happen. Unless they plan on a major attraction to come to SW replacing either Corkscrew or Vikings. However I doubt VRTP are going to have money left considering all the $$$$ they are spending for MW. Does Mack offer a buy one get one free on their coasters?

  11. but every single post pop makes even legit ones gets a negative rating

  12. to be honest, this ride was grand but old. I think it needs to be pulled down in replace for a new thrill attraction or mid thrill attraction. Just a thought.

  14. same but i was even more sad when they closed the great gremlins adventure at movie world and the looney tunes river ride to be honest but looking at it now im sort of glad they have closed these older atractions becouse there is less chance of a incident happening like on the thunder river rapids with the rides been so old etc

  15. Now that you mention it Bermuda is probably a better word, not Storm, ie closing a ride during maintenance without notice. A few years ago Sea World was completely land-locked, now after the reclaiming of land, Sea Viper's closure, the waterpark closure, and potentially this, it's been completely reversed. Sad times.

  16. maybe they are getting rid of it

  17. Fairly common for any new attraction to go down for a short maintenance period once it's run up a few miles in its gears, in this case, after its first school holidays. Nothing to be concerned about

  18. Yep now i get it This is by no means accurate at all, but i drew a rough sketch of what the coaster could be like to get a sense of the length of the ride(please dont bag my design Lol). The sketch that i drew is about 1050 metres in length from a birds eye view, so none of the hills and drops are include. But i think if those were included the track length would be anywhere from 1300-1600 metres depending on the height of different elements (eg. Loops, drops, ect.).

  19. hahahaha no comment @Santa07 Also is the total length of a ride determined by its actual ride length or its birds eye view length?

  20. @Jamberoo Fan A. Adjusting nut B. Adjust and lock bolt together C. Lock bolt open. If you adjust one of these connections up or down. You will move the top of the pole by its length. In theory, the longest pole on Mr Hyper Coaster would be around 60m If you adjusted one of the connections up or down by 1cm you could move the top of the pole by 1.2m Once track is complete and all adjustments are made. The lock nuts are locked and the area between the footing and metal plate are filed with concrete. Why did I tell you this. No reason at all. Just had 5 min to kill at work

  21. @Jamberoo Fan i love your passion, that you are detailed, you explain yourself. BUT... im not sure whether it's your style of writing or an actual belief, but you are increasingly coming across as a "I know more than you do" "holy than thou" contributor. We have @loki75 join the conversation and offer up some info he feels comfortable sharing, and whilst we all receive anything unconfirmed with trepidation and an element of skepticism, you wrote post after post, and long drawn out ones at that, basically telling him he's wrong, but at the same time admitting you haven't seen the plans yourself so are only guessing. You need to ease back, not in your number of posts or your effort to get involved in topics, most of your stuff is quality, but you are starting to really overanalyse and over critique to the point your posts have gone from adding value to the conversation to now being about trying to prove you know more and everyone else is wrong.

  22. They probably added 60 metre as that's 200 feet, which is the minimum height of a hyper

  23. Thanks @AlexB. Definitely more food for thought. It's ok. Not upset. Just want to clarify what I said earlier, as I don't want anyone to think I want to see the CCTV for reasons other than getting my head around the chain of events that led to something of this scale taking place. I admit that I'm still struggling to accept how exactly of this magnitude happened, especially for what I've known for 30 years to be a harmless family ride, also knowing that those two small kids managed to escape at what would have even an extremely crucial time. The mind just boggles

  24. If I were putting bets on it, I think something reasonably similar, but not identical to Flash at Iewa Adventure would be what it is. Which is amazing news because that ride looks brilliant, and Mack do fantastic rides by all accounts. We're getting a serious piece of roller coaster here people.
