Looney Tunes River Ride - Animatronics are back on show?
Baconjack replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Surprised that they weren't sold off in that BOH auction village ran many years ago, probably a licensing thing though -

And made by the same manufacturer (zamperla). I believe rcdb classify the tops coaster and big red boat as belonging to the same model as well but yeah it's really a weird connection to make -
You can barely even see the fence on the globe and the ramp doesn't look terrible from the perspective of walking into the park i don't see how this affects photo ops etc

You also have the case of having multiple parks in a single state catering to two cities. One of worlds of fun or six flags St. Louis could be sold off. Also you have two parks catering to the Philadelphia market, there’s no way Dorney’s not on the cards to get let go when you have Great Adventure not far away Knotts is for sure gone. The land it sits on is just too valuable, Magic Mountain not so much, plus knotts is landlocked and can’t expand at all. No park is too popular to kill if it’s land can be flogged off for top dollar (ie: wonderland) Six Flags America & Kings Dominion are also relatively close to each other, so the smaller park (Six Flags) could get sold off, but to another operator because zoning prevents its use for much else Six Flags is not in the best position financially and the merged company takes on everything (such as debt), so some parks will have to be cut unfortunately.

Rivertown is still over a year off opening. We might see something in the half year announcements (and when maintenance dates are posted for next year) pertaining to Motocoaster potentially to make it better fit into Rivertown because they can't keep it under the generic theme for too much longer. A reminder that they didn't announce Gold Coaster's retheme until it was just starting to get underway. Could easily have the ride go down from August/September and then re-open with vintage cars & jungle rush. Keep the motorbike concept but put new fibreglass bodies to make them look like dirt bikes, repaint of track & supports & retheme of the station like gold coaster. Replacing it is a waste of time & money the ride is perfectly functional and there's ample space for new attractions to go in (which will be the priority for any capex in the future)

Could theoretically be a tunnel too (which would look a lot better), but can’t exactly figure out the exact details of the drawing (because the resolution is too low) to make a conclusion on it. I’d say the track section that goes in and out of the building will do just that above the exit path (looks like it, the queue is to the left). Think Eureka and how it went in and out of the structure in the line of sight of guests.

Well to be fair they probably don’t need to replace track during the dark ride section, it will only be during the mouse section where stress on the track takes place. Also this is a horrible take lol, if mouse coasters weren’t janky they’d be boring. Half of the fun of wild mice is the feeling of going off the track during the hairpin turns and the reason this one is highly regarded is because it feels that more intense and out of control because it takes place in a box

Looks like you go up the turntable, drop down backwards, traverse the first half of the layout backwards, go up to the turntable, go through the second bit of the layout forwards, and that’s it. Layout looks pretty short but the interaction with vintage cars is at least nice. Also looks to quite a bit of opportunity for show scenes beyond the turntable - that show building is certainly sizeable and most of that first half looks like it takes place inside it.

Wooden coasters need their wood replaced all the time. Track, supports, etc. That's just how they work, it's a part of the maintenance. Wild Mouse is very old so some bits are going to need to be replaced, others restored, it won't impact on the heritage listing. Given parts of the ride are getting re-tracked I'd imagine Luna Park's either still got the plans for the wild mouse somewhere (when they bought it back from the fairgrounds) and are getting track custom built according to those plans or has studied the ride enough to make an exact 1 to 1 replica of the track.

I sincerely hope any of the animatronics that are used for Jungle Rush aren't as atrocious as the octopus. Why doesn't it blink? Area looks fine otherwise the chinese facades don't stick out like a sore thumb like i thought they would. -
Removal of virtual queue at VRTP?
Baconjack replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think this is correct. It's all about money. Why bother implementing something that's free for people that pay north of $100 to be there when they could pay $80 for the same thing (provided VQ was used properly) when the people that visit won't return for a few years anyhow? It's a terrible decision for guests ahead of the summer peak when every major in their parks will have upwards of a 1.5hr line because Village haven't cared about their customers for years by *checks notes* running single train ops on Rivals & Superman (and presumably Leviathan during the next peak too) as well as making 5 minute dispatches the norm because managers aren't properly training their staff.- 33 replies

No one needs it the most likely candidate would have been movie world but that’s out of the question as Scooby is getting millions thrown at it, and there will be enough family thrill coasters to go around across the majors in a year’s time anyway that sit in the same spot in a lineup as the rmc wild moose

Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2024
Baconjack replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yes because it’s the guests fault that Village bought a lemon ride which had its other example shut after not even 10 years of operation which happened prior to them even buying it. Liked that ride but unfortunately poorly designed and not even worth riding in its current state. Fingers crossed that lengthy maintenance cycle it’s got involves some blowtorch work. -

Viking’s Revenge Flume Ride Removal

A modern flume or shoot the chutes would be nice. Something that looks less intimidating than Storm and can fit the gap between Nickelodeon & Storm/Atlantis/jet rescue perfectly -

again there are plenty of spaces in the park for food carts and whatever retail has in storage that doesn’t necessitate using the chinatown alley. why aren’t they here? or here. a stop gap solution. not ideal for the long term but nothing will happen to this for at least another 5 years so maybe all the crap that’s stored in the chinatown alley would fit without much inconvenience for workers? thinking outside the box why not the superman show building? this shit doesn’t cost money and could literally be done within a day. plenty of other little corners that could be used too but i can’t be asked to write them all up. making guests walk past superman and flash to get to a completely different standalone area makes no sense at all (especially as you’re supposed to see emerald city as you enter the land) neither does an obscured corner which has its access partially blocked off by a dining area. -

I took the “food for thought” as implying “hey let’s get these trains on superman” but i suppose that’s not the case here. LSM’s will be difficult to fit onto the existing track with the space available. That said as the technology of magnetic launches continues to improve it can be done and I think it’s plausible if I were village I would be looking at the Canadian install that’s near opening very closely. Superman is far too popular to straight up kill (as opposed to let’s say doomsday or green lantern) and would it make sense to invest the money into renovating for that reason given the popularity of the ride, but that popularity variable hasn’t stopped dreamworld from getting rid of tower as an example. Nevertheless village have recognised the value of renovating old but popular attractions in the past with Scooby so maybe that example is followed with superman in the future. Of course it can change in a few years. -
Or an indoor boat ride/flume like a modern version of ltrr. Something thats reasonably high capacity and eats through crowds. I would have said something like studio tour would fit but it makes no sense putting that next to road runner and I don’t see jds going anywhere it seems to be popular, plus half of the building is used for storage so need to consider where everything in there goes too

Fitting those on superman would be physically impossible when concerning clearance envelopes etc. -
The effects are also cheaper imo. No strobe tunnel in Hong Kong, 2nd lift effects are just strobe lights compared to the tunnel on the California version, brake run tunnel looks worse. Load station is smaller and looks a bit odd too. With the Star Wars overlay it looks incomplete and a mish mash of Star Wars & old space mountain, you'd think if it was intended to be permanent they'd go all in on the retheme. You're right on the layout and soundtracks but look into the little details and you see it's the cheap version (their autopia version could fall under this criticism too) which explains why Hong Kong was considered bad in its opening day form. A couple of standouts and it's a good park for someone who hasn't visited a Disney park before (Like myself when I visited) however if you visited Disneyland or WDW beforehand you'd notice these things pretty quickly. As you say Mystic is a fantastic dark ride, easily the best thing there, and a great take on the haunted mansion, it doesn't depend on screens as heavily as modern trackless dark rides (compared to Ratatouille or M&M RR). Grizzly is a great ride that has a great feeling of speed but haven't ridden any of the big thunders yet so can't make a judgement on whether it's better than that. Iron Man is a good alternative to Star Tours but I wasn't particularly impressed by it and it stuck out like a sore thumb in Tomorrowland, haven't gotten to ride the Ant-man space ranger spin redo yet but based on POV's it seems to be a downgrade. Arendelle looks great and although I dislike Iger/Chapek era IP-based projects as much as the next person it has its place and is a necessary addition to drive visitors up as something different from what you can experience in the mainland. Hoping the Avengers e-ticket is eventually built to finish off the marvel corner of tomorrowland which will also give visitors a reason to come as there's nothing marvel at shanghai.
