interesting that the markets aren't charging admission for non passholders. opening Jane's means even if the street food isn't appealing to you or if you were looking for a proper, sit down meal, you've now got the option of dining in a theme park absolutely free of admission. #nice

It's great DW have opened up the restaurant but this micro management of operational hours that DW has fallen in love with, is a great way to piss off guest.

We’re here kids, oh wait, the park doesn’t open for another 30mins.

S^&t the park is already open, I thought is didn’t open to 10:30.

Let’s do a few rides after school Jonny and grab ice cream.  Oh wait, it’s Tuesday, we can only do that on Fridays.

F^&k another hot summer day, let’s go the water park to cool down.  Don’t be stupid, WWW isn’t open Wednesday.

What do you mean I can’t eat at the restaurant tonight, I was here at the Night Markets, last Saturday night and it was open. Oh it’s Friday.  But I don’t like German sausages.

I’ve just driven from Brisbane for the Night Markets and you’re telling me it’s not on because of a special event.

How a business chooses to manage it's operating hours is up to them. Everything listed in the post above is a matter that can be checked with a little research by the guest before arriving. The park has made their hours very clear on website and socials. Night market sends out emails every week with what's on, or if they're closed. When they have private events on, they publish that for weeks in advance of the date.

I took my family to an activity over christmas. we arrived early, hoping to beat the crowds, only to discover that although the place it was at opened at 9 - along with every other service provider in the complex, this one particular facility didn't open until 10:30. I was a little annoyed - why doesn't this operator open at the same time as everyone else? but then I realised that the doors (and the website, and google) clearly showed what their trading hours were. I simply hadn't bothered to check and assumed this place was like all the others in the same location. the fault was mine.

I understand dreamworld operating lower hours midweek outside of peak. if i were a local, i'd be a little annoyed - and personally I think they're missing out on the after school traffic - but i've also seen the after school population at Movie World and wondered how they afford the staffing bill - because most of those after school visitors weren't there to buy expensive ice cream. they were there to ride on an annual pass that cost nothing for a post-school visit. So i'm not sure if the economics work out to stay open for the possible ice cream purchases that probably won't come.

As for visiting the waterpark - i'm not privy to their finances, but again, you want them to be open for a 7 hour trading day for the possibility of capturing post-school trade for the last 2 hours. what a waste of 5 hours of labour (plus the pre-opening labour required). They've got the numbers, and they've decided it's not viable.

And this has been repeated to you so many times it's becoming a turnstile-level issue.

Restaurant opening times are clearly posted. Nobody would have assumed it was open at night prior to this step, and they've been very clear about saturday openings and providing a booking link. bookings won't be possible on friday, so that should be a big red fucking hint it isn't open. if you turn up on friday to eat at janes without a reservation - that's really on you.

All of these situations are fanciful inventions in your own mind and have no connection with reality. I'm not seeing reviews posted to Dreamworld's various online presences complaining about short hours or closed waterparks. i'm seeing reviews of how great the experience was.

Don't even start me on how the company with the 7-hour-trade-7-days-per-week parks and the non-seasonal waterpark is performing in the guest reviews space... because it isn't pretty.

As part of their increased focus on making Jane's Rivertown Restaurant a dining destination for locals on Friday and Saturday nights - starting tomorrow night they'll be launching a Friday night Trivia Night.

Hope people get along and have some fun with family & friends.

It's been a pleasure working with the team at Dreamworld to get this off the ground 🙂

Yeah look - I'm glad they're trying things out and it's awesome you've been able to collaborate with them. I know they want to drive visitation and increase revenue, and i'm not shitting on the concept at all - I don't mind a little pub trivia on occasion while having a drink or two...

...but if trivia is happening in a venue - I prefer to eat elsewhere. This is definitely something i'd avoid, for my own personal tastes and preferences.

Good news is for you, it’s in the function room, not in the main dining area, for the exact reason we know some people don’t want to be disturbed while eating.

For once we agree @DaptoFunlandGuy  💃    Trivia nights are for & pubs & clubs.

Welcome to that opinion, but hundreds of restaurants around the country run trivia nights.

That's great it's in the function room but you should make it clearer, because I wouldn't eat in a restaurant running a trivia night.

I'm just the service provider doing what they were engaged to do - how DW wish to promote or market a program is entirely up to them. You are clearly not the target audience for this type of thing, which is perfectly fine

I've been to many Trivia nights, but in more appropriate venues.  As I said it reads in the restaurant and that's how I took it.  I fine with it being in another room.

"increased focus on making Jane's Rivertown Restaurant a dining destination"

is what you said.

(Not) increased focus on becoming a Trivia Night destination.

I don't believe DW's aim here is to become a Trivia Night destination. 🤷‍♀️

I wish you every success.

i'm sure many people would be unaware that the restaurant even had a function room. I know it was in some earlier concepts somewhere but I never saw it, nor any doorways leading to it, so when I saw the advertisement posted (which also said "live inside janes rivertown restaurant" it was a fair assumption for me to make it would take over the entire dining room.

I've no doubt many other potential guests will see that and assume the same thing - potentially scaring diners away rather than attracting trivia buffs!

I realise it's their marketing and not yours brad - not aiming my critique at you, just calling it how I see it.

Also as an additional critique of the park - the early days of opening, they had queues, and refused people a table on the basis that they were waiting for tables - but they had an entire function room space they could have opened up to seat more covers?

The restaurant is awesome.

HELLO ALL PARKS have a good full service restaurant that offers proper food.

The only problem with the restaurant is the sight lines to it are awful, you’d never even know it’s there.
