Some more details were announced a couple of weeks ago, including the area's name, Corroboree Dreamworld.

DREAMWORLD is pushing ahead with what is believed to the first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and wildlife attraction within a major theme park. Indigenous cultural consultant David Dahwurr Hudson and his wife Cindy have been commissioned to work with the Yugambeh people of the Gold Coast to create Corroboree Dreamworld. "I am scripting a story for the local performers which will make up the audio-visual component of the project and talking to the Dreamworld events staff about corporate work," Mr Hudson said. The co-founder of the award-winning Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park at Cairns said live shows and dance performances would include three 10-minute audio visual presentations each day. He said the stories would weave in a cross-section of culture and stories on topics including Mabo, Dreamtime, men and women's business, the Tasmanian Devil, the Kimberleys and the Far North. Live demonstrations would include making firemaking, didgeridoo playing and dancing. Mr Hudson said indigenous rangers at Dreamworld would be involved as well as about 12 people to be hired as performers, with an emphasis on those from the Yugambeh people. "Jaran Dance Company will be the dancers involved and are from the area. They are descendants from the Yugambeh people and Earthstory is the production company heading the production of the precinct," he said. "We will be building an indigenous cafe as well."

I thought the french invented the cafe?

What sort of things could you buy at an indigenous cafe that would make it any different from the other cafe type outlets in dreamworld?

No, the Coffee shop was invented by the Persians(as was the drink itself). It just literally means Coffee in French. So they were the first ones to call the coffee shop a "Cafe" and we just took the name into English as we also did "Bistro" and "Restaurant". They put the sign on the shop to indicate that you can buy "Cafe(Coffee)" here, as in "this is a coffee shop".

‘DREAMWORLD CORROBOREE’

A NEW WORLD OPENING AT DREAMWORLD IN DECEMBER

Dreamworld is pleased to announce the introduction of DREAMWORLD CORROBOREE, a new world launching this December.

In July last year, Dreamworld was successfully awarded an Australian Government grant to work with community locals to build an Indigenous tourism experience. DREAMWORLD CORROBOREE will be an interactive walk-through experience celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, wildlife and stories.

“This unique collaboration of culture and wildlife is a world-first and we’re incredibly excited to work on a project that will deliver a memorable and authentic connection with all that is Australia,” said Craig Davidson, Dreamworld’s Chief Executive Officer.

DREAMWORLD CORROBOREE will fully immerse guests into our Indigenous world with an interactive presentation featuring live performance mixed with a short-film, “Creation of the Gold Coast” – the local Yugambeh people’s story. Guests are also invited to personally engage with Indigenous people at Dreamworld and experience their culture through activities including dot painting, fire-making, live didgeridoo playing, animal talks and demonstrations on spear throwing.

Our unique Australian wildlife will be showcased by the community locals as part of the experience and storytelling. The natural environment will allow Dreamworld guests to intermingle with wildlife, including Koalas, Kangaroos and Cassowaries, and appreciate the likes of our largest reptile, the Saltwater Crocodile.

Dreamworld is also pleased to announce that Indigenous cultural consultant and entertainer, David Dahwurr Hudson has been commissioned to deliver the entertainment and interactive component of DREAMWORLD CORROBOREE.

David Hudson says of the project, “I am working with the local Yugambeh language people of the Gold Coast to script a story for the local performers, which will make up the audio-visual component of the project.

“Woven into the experiences will be a cross-section of culture and legendary stories including Mabo, Dreamtime, men and women’s business, the Tasmanian Devil, the Kimberleys and even the Far North.”

Al Mucci, Dreamworld’s General Manager Life Sciences, who dreamed up the project adds, “We are working to deliver an experience of timeless cultures and values that will make the local and Australian Indigenous community proud.”

Experience the legends of Dreamtime, only at Dreamworld from December.

it's opened today. anyone got any pictures?

EDIT: Dreamworld posted this on their website:

An Australian theme park first, DREAMWORLD CORROBOREE is an interactive walk-through experience celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, wildlife and stories. As guests make their way through CORROBOREE, they will learn about traditional stories associated with key animal exhibits and have the opportunity to try hands-on activities including fire making, weapon throwing and music making.
The central focal point of DREAMWORLD CORROBOREE is a replicated ‘humpy’ called the Corroboree Theatre featuring a film produced by renowned Aboriginal artist David Hudson especially for Dreamworld. Titled “Creation of the Gold Coast” this film is a narrated feature about the local Yugambeh people’s story. Also inside the Corroboree Theatre will be a digital dot painting activity, artwork and a map of the Indigenous tribe boundaries throughout Australia.
Throughout DREAMWORLD CORROBOREE Australia’s unique and beautiful wildlife is immortalised in commissioned Indigenous artwork that is showcased throughout the area as part of the experience and storytelling.
Seven years in the making, DREAMWORLD CORROBOREE has been created with invaluable assistance and approval from members of many Indigenous language groups and peoples including:
Kamilaroi mob of South-Western Queensland
Savannah Ewamian, Western Yalanji, Mamu Ngadjon and Rainforest Peoples of Northern Queensland
Nyikina people of the Kimberley region
Kooma mob of Western Queensland
Moon-Bird people of Tasmania
People of the Torres Strait Islands
Yugambeh language group of the Gold Coast and surrounds.

Did it say what other animals will be coming to the area?

i think if they are going to upgrade the area they need to upgrade the crocodiles, kangaroo, dingo and emu enclosures.
