I don't think the slated road extension would be too much of a barrier to possible AW expansion (obviously dependent on budget...)

Knott's Ghostrider goes straight over a publicly accessible road just fine...

Now - I know Ghostrider is probably out of AW's budget for some time (a 5 minute googling couldn't turn up a cost for it, but it's no doubt a lot)... but the concept is there and clearly it wouldn't be hard to utilise the land for some great coaster layouts...

The park could also utilise those blocks by using tunnels to cross the road (as well as transport systems like chairlifts, monorails etc) or alternatively just use it to house it's maintenance, logistics and warehouse, and use the existing sites of those facilities for more land 'in-park'.

Sounds like long term planning - snapping up all those blocks (it could also be neighbour-proofing) - and i like the sound of it either way.

AW doesn't have any land near the road expansion anyway - (unless they own the 'phantom' block)

just the main carpark which is apparently owned by the state government

i just feel it would be shit to have another road run through there along the boundary of AW

the 2 blocks AW own to the south have no road expansion issues and AW could easily expand the park into them

Is there anything saying that the road expansion will actually go ahead. Looks like the School is making use of it for a basketball court and other things currently. The area Google Maps has marked out for the future road also seems too narrow to build something suitable for the amount of traffic it would have to deal with based on the amount of space the road to the north and existing road uses before stopping.

Looks like Screamscape has picked up Megan's TR from Adventure World.

ADVENTURE WORLD (Australia)

icon_STOP.gifPark News - (4/20/15) A fun trip report from the rarely seen Adventure World theme park in Australia was posted to Flying Pirouettes. This park is off the beaten path for most coaster enthusiast trips and gives us a really good look at the park's newest coaster, Abyss, who also has some unique looking merchandise, especially the themed USB Sticks.

What got me is the 'rarely seen' bit. Really, because every other CEO is busy posting on enthusiast forums? That's the real story.

Busier than I expected at Adventure World today - probably because it was open and a lot of shops weren't. The dry rides like the Grand Prix Raceway had quite a long wait. Abyss, running two trains, was a 5 minute queue for the front seats and no wait for the back row. The voice was back on again inside the show building. Outside, it looks like a Guardian has taken a tumble and is resting by the main building. The lawns look well trimmed. The fallen crow on the roof of Below Zero has magically disappeared (it would be nice to have something up there for the riders of the chair lift). They also have a coin pressing machine for the Abyss.

Freefall was down for some major repairs. It was stripped of its seats.

The animals at the Aussie Wildlife Experience were active - saw the little joey eating food whilst still in its mother's pouch. The wombat and one of the koalas were also running around their enclosures.

It's great that they've got that announcement 5 minutes before a show is about to start so people can make their way there, especially considering that they wouldn't have their watches on if they were swimming.

Had a 'The Chief' burger - with two patties and bacon - it was very filling.

The shelter at the top of the hill has disappeared and awaits the next attraction.

Had a great day showing a friend around who had not been there in twenty years. He couldn't believe how big Abyss was and commented on how Adventure World was more like the Gold Coast parks now.

It's all over for another season (we had the Anzac Day holiday today). From AW's website:

Dear all.

Today is the very last day of our 33rd season and on behalf of the team here at Adventure World we would like to sincerely thank you for choosing to come to Adventure World this season. We really do appreciate everyone’s patronage and support and we hope to see you back next season when the park launches a new $6m, fully themed mega water slide, the steepest and longest of its kind, anywhere in the world and tipped to be the very best in Australia.

That's the one thing I seem to forget every time I don't go to parks for a while, just how big these rides are. You see them from a distance and say, "Well that's 30m high, not too big", but when you're right up next to it you see how wide the track is, how big the cars are etc. It's still only 30m tall but it just feels like a massive beast up close because of how thick the components of the ride are.
