Looking forward to seeing this and have high exceptions, hopefully they take all the feedback from last year onboard and some better food options are also on offer.

Tickets for Adults are $30 and Kids are $20

Last year one of the critiques we all had on here was the entertainment wasn't the best, and they should make use of the lake and have a colour/light/fire/music show, so it is great to see they have gotten rid of the 'famous' singers, and are doing this instead. Can't wait to see how much they improve the event, and hopefully will prove that the movie to SW was a great idea.

I agree @AlexB I was comparing the photos between this year and last year, and nothing has changed in regards to the placement of things. But they are bringing the Aquacolour show which should really add to the event, and be the much needed improvement compared to this years. Providing there is plenty of street entertainment and they try and connect the spaces well, then it should be a good event

I went to Sea World’s first Carnivale for 2018 tonight and I really enjoyed it. This was my first time attending a Carnivale night and I wasn’t expecting much based on what I’d read from various places. However, I was pleasantly surprised. While I can understand why some would still be disappointed with what’s on offer, IMO the entertainment and aquacolour show was worth the price of admission alone. I got a few pics of the colour show - sorry about the quality but I’m no photographer!

Pretty clear the focus has shifted away from the food to the entertainment. At least the light show was pretty good, although I left part way through it to avoid being stuck in the car park for two hours.

Compare the menu for this year -

  • Slow Cooked Ribs
  • Cajun Grilled Chicken
  • Pulled Pork Roll
  • Beef Hot Dog
  • Chicken or Prawn Noodles
  • Southern Fried Chicken Po Boy
  • Key Lime/Apple/Another Flavour I'm Forgetting Pie

to previous years (2014) -

  • Seafood Boil-Up
  • Seafood Chowder Cobb
  • Meat or Seafood Po Boys
  • Gumbo
  • Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Jalepenos
  • BBQ Chicken Wings
  • Orleans Dog
  • Pulled Pork Roll
  • Slow Cooked Ribs
  • Jambalaya
  • Buffalo Chicken Wings
  • Millionaire's Bacon
  • Key Lime/Pecan Pie

And based on reviews it also appears there used to be New York Style pizza, Curly Fries with Bacon & Mayo, themed cocktails...

Last night I got to go to my first ever Carnivale, and was very much looking forward to how the event works at SW and what it has to offer. I will start by saying that out of last years FN and WC, this was absolutely my favourite of the 3. The atmosphere, entertainment, food, music, it was all great. But the Aquacolour Spectacular was incredible, and I’d quite happily pay the entry fee just to see this again. I’ll go into more detail later, but first I’ll discuss the individual elements;

Entry process:

You can enter through either the main entry or the pass entry, but this wasn’t very clear and the metal fencing out the front (creating an extended queue area) was a mess and people were not even lining up here. We arrived around 5:45 and entered the park at 6:05. By the time we got to the ticket scanners, they weren’t scanning tickets anymore and were just taking them off us and not giving us wrist straps, so they could speed up the entry process.

Entertainment:

As soon as we entered there was already performers and this continued all the way up to the Plaza. With there being just the right amount so that they weren’t annoying or causing crowds to block the paths. Within the Plaza it was endless entertainment, photo opportunities, sound and smiles. The vibe in here for great and you couldn’t help but dance and join in on the fun. The attitude of all the entertainment and staff was great across the whole night. Even around some of the animal exhibits and rides there were performers.

Food:

People keep saying that there has become less and less variety at Carnivale over the years, and as I’ve never been to one before I’ve got nothing to compare it too. But I thought the variety and taste of the foods last night was amazing. I had the Pulled Pork Roll and the Po Boy, where were both really really nice. They had some good flavours and were filling, which made the price more justifiable. I spoke to some others who tried some of the other food varieties and none of them complained about any of it. This year there were 7 or 8 stalls selling food in the Plaza, along with all the other food outlets throughout the park, which were still popular.

General:

The variety of other things to do, such as the animal exhibits and rides were an added bonus of stuff to do throughout the night. You could literally spend the whole time in and around the Plaza and you’d be happy with the night. But being able to watch how the animals are at night was really cool, especially in Shark Bay. Seeing how the sharks behave was quite fascinating and really different from the day time. There were plenty of photo opportunities to in front of signs and the large floats throughout the park. All the rides were popular, especially Nickelodeon Land, which looks beautiful at night. We only went on the Storm Coaster (Which I hadn’t done for a couple of years now and noticed they had removed the seat belts and you were allowed loose items in your pockets). The queue was only about 25 minutes, and the loading and unloading was reasonably efficient.

Aquacolour Spectacular:

This was the main reason I really wanted to attend this years event, and it completely blew my expectations. The effects, colour, water, sound, fire; all of it was amazing and the reactions from the crowd really showed how amazed everyone was. Before it began, at about 8:15, the fire dancers were along the front of the crowds performing many of the stunts they were doing throughout the park, plus a few extra, and was really good pre-show entertainment. And then at 8:30 the show began. The build up was great, and once the water canons began, it went to a whole new level. And when the flyboard riders came out, it went to another new level of awesomeness. The laser effects and music that was synced with it all made it all a truly incredible show to watch. It went for about 15 minutes, but it certainly felt a lot longer. Before the show began the speaker for the night said the show has been 4 years in the making, and I can say, it was all worthwhile.

Leaving:

As expected leaving SW was a nightmare, and took us nearly an hour to just leave the carpark, due to its very poor design. But then took ages to travel down Seaworld Drive. My tips is to park as close to the front as possible, and when driving down Seaworld Drive, stick to the left lane and then drive into Surfers if you are wanting to get onto the GC Highway. Traffic controllers would have definitely helped with the whole situation, but there weren’t any to be seen.

Overall:

I loved the event, and this will definitely make me want to return again. Setting this new standard for the event with the Aquacolour Spectacular is great and for me makes the move to SW worthwhile. From what I read about last years event, this was a massive improvement. And can’t wait to see how it improves in the years to come. I’m giving last nights event an 8.5/10

Look I think the Aqua show is disappointing however it's a first try. I remember the first try at White Christmas. Now if they can expand on that proof of concept and creating something truely unique and spectacular next year it will no doubt be very impressive. You have to start somewhere.

The food though they need to nail. The first 3 years it was 💯 amazing! You could not fault it. I would buy a ticket just for the opportunity to buy food.

Last year was utterly shit (only words I have) and whilst better doesn't sound like they just went ''make it the same as Movie World."

This is no place for ego and 'let them have a try at their own thing.'  Simply get the MW chefs responsible for the amazing original implementation to bring that to Sea World. The company stopped that insane Tim Fisher crap of splitting the properties up a while back now so bring that amazing food back to the table literally.

  • Chicken or Prawn Noodles

You could also get the noodles without the Chicken or Prawns for a cheaper price. Had the chicken both nights. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I can also confirm that Village Roadshow have gotten their money's worth out of their licence for Fergie's A Little Party Never Killed Nobody.

This was used by Fiesta Creations. As far as i know, they create their own shows and choose their own music. I don't know for sure but there is a chance that this may have not been a VRTP thing.

They do not give out wristbands from about 5:30ish onwards. The wrist bands are only given out to people that enter the park for the event before the park closes to the general public. This is so staff know you are there for the night event and you do not get escorted from the park with other day time guests.
