Honest question here. How have Dreamworld been maintaining Steel Taipan if this is not the case in some regards? It's been open for a couple of years now and I don't think I've ever seen it down for months long maintenance. Are they doing more of it during the morning/arvo being they open and shut later?

Movie World Maintenance Schedule 2025
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to TV15's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah Steel Taipan is the exact same in the maintenance bay - but dreamworld has what I presume is a carrier\frame to load the cars onto sat outside the station building. It's a wonder MW doesn't have this, and a wonder that MACK haven't had to solve this problem previously given how many of these cars are in use worldwide. As for 'you can't just uncouple one car' - bullshit. you totally could if you wanted to. Might have cost more \ required more heavy machinery to do it right, and probably needing manufacturer \ engineer sign off when the train was finally rebuilt - and ultimately the winch out method they went with would have been cheaper and easier to do, but you could have unbolted the running gear and craned the cars onto the back of a truck anytime you liked. Big difference between can't, and don't want to. Yeaahhhhhh I think you'll find in the context Brad was referring to - he meant the annual maintenance - the one period you didn't mention in your reply. -

I hadn't considered that, but it makes sense as that gate is where all the food trucks enter from. It's plausible they could have brought them in through other gates but it would have been more of a disruption to the park. so you're confident that they're providing the space free of charge in exchange for the value of marketing, but in the next sentence, admitting the marketing value is limited? Nah. Unless you've got a copy of the contract, I don't believe they're offering the land use up without payment. There may be quid pro quo arrangements, but they're putting a dollar value 'on the book' for land usage. Because that's how a business accounts for things in the real world. Nobody is lodging their tax return with only their net income reported. I still don't buy that DW is paying out for marketing here. I've already made some suggestions here - and Endemol aren't stupid. Neither are Dreamworld leadership Thats a good point - but with the low cost to entry for night market they'd get overrun... have to charge additional admission I would say. Careful, we don't want to get too technical with the math Yep seems to tie in quite well with the anticipated opening date for claw. though i'm sure previous BB seasons filmed during construction periods so i'm not sure that's the deal breaker it's made out to be.- 100 replies

While I could understand if whitewatermountain and constrictor were somehow linked, i'm not sure i'd buy the aqualoop site being linked to constructor in any impactful way.

The biggest problem with rivals was at the time they literally had nothing to attach a removed train to. When it enters the repair bay it's designed to run on a set of smaller wheels on the outer of the chassis so the wheel carriers can hang freely for service and repair work while in the maintenance bay. There was no procedure how to go about removing a stranded train from the ride, which is a problem because modern coasters frequently don't have two sets of running wheels so you can't just uncouple one car at a time as the one left on the track has nothing to attach to keep the car stable. They are built more like a chassis with only one set of carriers either front or back, with a coupling that bolts to the next car. Pretty much every other coaster has a dolly or frame they roll each car onto as they are often shipped already assembled in containers. Rivals was a bit different. It does. Frequently. Especially from a maintenance standpoint. Not just daily inspections, but weekly, monthly, quarterly checks, repairs, maintenance, routinely done by maintenance teams at night because there aren't enough hours in the morning before opening to get these done, plus opening checks. The other side of it is you have maybe 10-12 hours to form a contingency plan if something is really wrong and you have to work through the night. Don't have that luxury during the day time, so a lot of difficult routine work is done at night. They would probably even get painted in darkness if 1) the weather suits, and 2) painters or the painting company they farm the job out to are prepared to work at night time.

Maybe the marketing comes alongside the contract of using their land. Therefore they get paid for the use of their land/park/resources, plus they get free marketing. 2-0 equal 2…. Therefore $$$ for DW- 100 replies

Definetely will provide free rent for any Marketing value swap. Marketing value here is limited. Dreamworlds target market is teenagers on social media and families with kids or teenagers ( on social media ) Given how unsuccessful big brother has become why would dreamworld take risk that the next one will go any better. There business is not in the risk of this production. Why would dreamworld accept rent $ and pay out for marketing $. 1-1 equal 0. Perhaps they pay a small sum but I doubt it . The cost of hosting and administrating security needs to be embedded. When is the due to film cause for imagery you would want the claw working I would say . Not a construction site .- 100 replies

This corner of the park is closed at the moment due to the construction of the new attraction. I don’t necessarily think Constrictor needs to close for it and is likely just a cost saving exercise.

You've got rocks in your head if you think they're providing the space for free. Night market might have some issues with that. I don't really care for FNG and TBH i'd be more annoyed if they found yet another reason to push night market around. It's bad enough they do it for halloween. This is key. If they just do season 2001 the same way they did it back then, it's not going to be successful. But if they harness the modern tools they have available this thing could go off (and Endemol aren't that stupid). I was never a big BB fan - I watched occasionally but not religiously. I think getting stuff out on the stream platforms, or things like YouTube will propel this into the younger generations - so all those calling it this early are probably not allowing for things like this, and i'll reserve final judgment until the season is over.- 100 replies

If Big Brother does this right, this is essentially just IRL Twitch. Edit: Some quick Twitch stats thanks to Google AI (so... very possibly wrong) 2.5 million people tune into the Twitch at any given moment Japan and Australia have a combined userbase of 4.1 million Twitch users, making up 1.6% of the platform In Australia, Twitch users are predominantly in the 18-34 age group, with 75% being male So if those details are anywhere near accurate, there is a big gap in the female "twitch" market. BB doesn't need to get an influencer onboard with the cast, but they likely will need them onboard talking about the show- 100 replies

I doubt Dreamworld are providing anything for free and in fact the park is probably making decent money from this partnership and they’re getting a lot of advertising. If the Friday Night Games are indeed returning and occur within the park again, then it’s a way to show the country how good the park is looking and that people should return.- 100 replies

Expanding upon my thoughts I posted previously in this topic, I do think the time has passed on Big Brother being some big National zeitgeist thing, especially with the ~youth~ I mean I'm an "old-head" (37) and I don't even watch TV anymore, only Youtube and Twitch streams (also anime but that doesn't count as TV). What chance does Dreamworld have in capturing that most important young demographic? Unless there's some very specific stunt casting, i.e. getting some younger influencers/content creators involved or even in the house - even if it's just as temporary intruders I agree that this show has little chance at being anywhere near as successful as it was. Even for someone like me who is pretty nostalgic about visiting the eviction stage, etc. I won't be watching OR visiting (of course I live in Melbourne now, but even if I did still live on the GC I don't think I'd care enough to watch or visit).- 100 replies

Makes sense . This show will be a flop once again . Calling it now . it’s nostalgic but the time has come and gone for the format and what the park was at that time . I doubt dreamworld are spending here because it’s poor $ for limited advertising now . We are in new world of social media with bigger bang for buck where teenage market is . Just providing the space for free and electricity .- 100 replies

When I drove past Dreamworld the other day it looked like they had put new fencing in where the Monster Truck Show was, on the border outside Coomera State School. I wonder if perhaps they will put the house in that spot, then utilise the Exhibition Centre for live crosses?- 100 replies

Big Brother is officially returning to its spiritual home, with a brand-new house set to rise from the ashes at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast. In an exclusive reveal producers confirmed the 2025 reboot of the iconic reality juggernaut will be filmed at the very site that made the franchise a cultural phenomenon more than two decades ago. After months of speculation and calls from diehard fans for a nostalgic full-circle moment, production company Endemol Shine has locked in Dreamworld as the official location for the show’s revival — complete with a purpose-built house. “The demand for a reboot of the original format has been deafening, and we have listened,” SVP of Content at Paramount Australia Daniel Monaghan said, promising the reboot will honour the raw, unscripted spirit of the original series. “With a brand-new house built on familiar ground, this season will be centred on real people with real stories, talking in real-time.” Fronting the revival is The Cheap Seats star and Nova radio host Mel Tracina, who described the hosting gig as a “pinch-me moment”. “I’d love to be able to recall the exact moment I got the call but my brain stopped braining from excitement,” she said. “I was simultaneously trying not to squeal into the phone and pass out at the same time.” Tracina, who watched the show’s very first season as a teenager, said: “The Big Brother house is synonymous with Dreamworld, so bringing the OG format to its OG location feels right. We’re excited to be home (and in a new house that hopefully comes with an air fryer).” “I was excited when Queensland was confirmed as the location because I knew fans of the show would be wrapped. Personally, I’m also happy because I’m a Melburnian who has Jon Snow’d through winter so I cannot wait to swap my MacPac for Havaianas.” Dreamworld CEO Greg Yong said: “We’re beyond thrilled to welcome Big Brother back home to Dreamworld. This iconic show holds a special place in our story and in the hearts of millions of Australians.” Supported by the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy, the production will employ 95 local crew members and offer four paid attachment positions. Casting is now open at bigbrothercasting.com.au. The new season will air later this year on 10. https://www.couriermail.com.au/entertainment/big-brother-returns-to-dreamworld-on-the-gold-coast/news-story/385a067b4ef357c443176eae58a1980c- 100 replies
