  1. Today
  2. Wrong. 100% wrong. At the most they would only ever want to have 2 majors at a time closed unless something ever went wrong. The general schedule was: Lethal Weapon / Arkham (After Aust day till early March) > Superman / Batwing (Early march till Easter holidays) > Scooby and RoadRunner after easter holidays > Wild West Falls from June till around August in prep for holidays. Then it would be Tunes / Batride between September and November. After November they would try to have all rides open and getting ready for the xmas holidays. Obviously with more rides sometimes a weekend (or maybe a single week with 3 rides closed) did happen but it was really avoided as much as possible. Only in the last 4-5 years have we really seen this many closures happening on a regular and it's 100% not acceptable. I really think at this stage, the park would be better running weekends and holidays only until they can catch up on things as it's absolutely pathetic the way the place is being ran.
  3. Let me get this straight - major rides are having rides built right next door, or within them, every winter? No. I'm sorry, but when your headlining (only) attractions are Roxy, Green Lantern and Justice League - you probably shouldn't be open.
  4. I beg to differ. I've been going to the park for 'decades' and It's never been as bad as what it has been now and in the past couple of years.
  5. It’s past the April school holidays and it’s fast approaching winter (the deadest time of the year). Two of the majors are scheduled to shut at this period every year, another is having a major being built right next door (and another ride within), another is being renovated, with another ride most likely getting pulled down. People complaining that rides are closed at this time are living under a rock. It’s been this way for decades before BGH ever came in the picture
  6. Every major ride except GL and JL is now down. What an embarrassment.
  7. That was very obviously (at least to me, and confirmed by the artist) meant to be no more than a vague idea of the area’s vibe, though, like with the earlier New Atlantis concepts.
  8. Is that the one that had the mine track in it? 🤣 You know, the one where I was shirtfronted on.
  9. The original concept art for Jungle Rush with the mountain wasn't
  10. Dreamworld’s released concept arts have been pretty accurate recently, to be fair. Out of all the things they’ve had concepts for in the past few years, the only thing I can think of that’s been misrepresented was the treetop piece on KFF’s main support.
  11. We've played concept art vs reality before. See also Leviathan, Trident. So its a fine assumption, but hope is all we have right now...
  12. @STRAWSor you can read the original topic from last year.
  13. I think it’s rather likely that the building isn’t consistently going to be at this height, and instead that the current section being built is it’s tallest (where the turntable’ll be), with the rest gradually levelling out to a more manageable height. This seems to be shown in the concept art, as well as the expected & somewhat intricately sculpted, ‘planted’, painted, etc. temple exterior, so I’d assume (or, yeah, hope) that at least this section in particular will have similar effort put into the exterior from all viewable angles. Especially considering that it backs directly onto Tiger Island, which already has a jungle/temple theme of its own, & having the train passing directly in between them both, not doing so would be a rather major missed opportunity.
  14. You reckon Dreamworld is gonna pay for admission to Sea World or Movie World as part of the deal?
  15. Yesterday
  16. I'm actually really impressed by that and loved it. I hope they print it on limited edition shirts and have some stupid contest to win them that also includes a free backwards seat ride. The rest I've just scrolled on by because you can do that. If something is cringy and sucks or just boring just move on.
  17. Which means they could market it as a ‘new’ or reimagined attraction. And therefore could drive more guests
  18. God I hope they cover the building up with themeing or some foliage rather than just paint it. We all thought the TOT building stood out like a sore thumb... this box is huge!
  19. DCR's boxes don't rotate when they're only running one train. And they almost never run 2. Exiting people to the wrong side just to collect loose items delays the advancement of the train into the load station. it would only serve to cripple cycle times even further. Trains can't launch until the unload station is clear and this would massively inflate the amount of time the train would spend in Unload. SE is coming up on its 20 year anniversary, and they have changed the TVs in the queue recently. I feel as though they haven't forgotten about the ride, and given its proximity to Oz, the queue systems of 2005 are a little antiquated. SE was built in a time when most people didn't live on their phones - Smart phones were virtually non existent or stupidly expensive. It wouldn't be until 2007 that the first iphone was released... The park has been sprucing up a lot of things of late (no doubt BGH wants to go to market once Oz is at the top of the Hype lift hill), maybe SE does have something in the wings to improve and modernise this?
  20. Check out the full application details here I've skimmed some of the documents really quickly this morning and a couple takeaways: The main DA Form 1 references them as Ardent leisure, not Coast (though documents are from last year so depending on when the change occurred, that's probably in line with the submissions) Looking at the plans, there are 3 current lots - in a nutshell, it looks like they just want to re-draw the boundaries of each lot. They have land available on the north side of Oakey Creek which isn't entirely practical for them to expand the theme park on. The new boundaries would create 3 new lots, basically defining the carpark (and the former BB studios) as Lot 1, the theme parks as lot 2 (including the Oakey Creek easement all the way to foxwell road), and turning the land that is on the north side of Oakey creek, adjacent to the old Big Brother site into Lot 3. The application includes a MCU (material change of use). I haven't read through it all but I am assuming the MCU relates to the town centre transition precinct as it wouldn't be theme park \ tourism use, whereas I believe the current lots are. It also enables the road connectivity planned out for the Coomera Activity Centre to flow seamlessly into the connector roads.
  21. How about a GP motorbike coaster in Rivertown, or a bunch of motorsport \ car themed attractions in 'Ocean Parade' ? The building facade may fit the ride, but it doesn't fit the surrounds, the land, or the park Not everything a park spends its money on should drive more guest visitation on billboards. Sometimes, it's just to enhance the park, and make it a more pleasant experience for the guests who have already paid to get in. I can assure you its way more than just a couple of thoosies. The main reason Emporium got a repaint was not because it was due (ie, not run down), or because of a "licencing thing". It got a repaint because it was ghastly, and did not match the theme of the area. It has been restored to more traditional 'main street' colour scheme so that it compliments the surrounding areas... sound familiar?
  22. The expression goes - any publicity is good publicity - but not unfortunately in the enthusiast world. (I would just point out to the Village fanboys out there - look! people are talking poorly about something Dreamworld did, take note for the next time you all claim its a village pile-on!)
  23. "why are they doing these silly posts, so unprofessional" Meanwhile what's been the main point of discussion around here for the last few days 🤷🏻‍♂️
  24. Well, if you went on the timeline that I proposed... that's close to 10 years since SV opened. Which is when most rides have a major overhaul anyway. Could potentially do a retheme at the same time as the new facade and re-launch it I guess.
  25. I don’t really think the posts themselves are the issue, if there’s anything to be changed it’s the frequency of them (and, even then, that’s not truly necessary). Dreamworld does, and has done, posts with the same vibe as those generally done by the Village parks (‘serious’ posts either when there’s something to update or something specific to promote), and they all seem to be met with no more than 50-60 likes on average. It’s their more ‘unserious’ posts (at least recently), which don’t always serve a direct/obvious purpose of promoting or updating, that get them significantly more engagement than their Village-esque posts do. At the end of the day, especially with Dreamworld in comparison to Movie World, the demographic here (both specifically & generally) is nowhere near the one/s this campaign is targeted at. Instead of going into the specificities of the demographic/s I believe they are attempting to target, I’ll just leave it off by saying the cliché “Even though you don’t like or understand something, that doesn’t mean it’s an inherently bad thing.”. And the engagement they’re getting with this campaign shows that. (Also, to be clear, this is mainly in regards to their Instagram posts, ‘cause I see Facebook as a relic best left untouched)
