  1. I disagree - much of the sensationalist media and subsequent social media comments revolve around them being stuck 'up high' and suggesting how dangerous it is to evacuate (one only has to look back at the arkham incident - which they specifically referenced in the video) - i don't see it as marketing - i see it as them going 'this is how normal it is, and how lucky people are to get to do it when a ride stops - people pay to do it!" - it draws comparisons to bridge climbs at the like. As for maintenance teams, and what they do during the day - don't forget there is almost always one ride or another closed for annual maintenance, touch up and refurb... at least outside of peak seasonal periods - so they have plenty to keep them occupied during the day - until there is a stoppage anyway...

  2. I feel like hiring a crane and parking it there, just for something new to talk about.

  5. G'Day Troy, I haven't been since 2008 so my experience may be a little outdated, but I was there early-mid July and found Disneyland wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. We had a couple of days and got most things done. We would've probably done better if we'd worked out how fastpass worked on the first day! In contrast, USH had massive queues for everything and had we not pre purchased VIP passes would've spent most of the day in lines. The only other park I went to was Knott's, which I hit by myself on the day of my flight home. I got there shortly after opening and found little to no queues on most coasters and got a few rides on each, but by the time I had to go the crowd was definitely getting bigger. I hope this helps, but I'm sure there are plenty on this forum with more (& more recent) experience who will chime in.

  6. Actually got to this place last month, although its name changed to Splash City for its second season. Went there on its last day, and the place was packed. It's located in part of the parking lot for Belmont Raceway. All of the bitumen has been covered by astroturf or plastic mesh, which isn't too harsh on the feet. The food was reasonable, although there was about a ten minute wait. There were plenty of tables under cover, so you didn't get too burnt. It was very much a family and/or tweener crowd as the only ride for adults and big kids were the taller slides. There was also an inflatable maze, obstacle course, kids playground and main pool. The seven storey slides are scary because the whole tower wobbles in the breeze. The ride down is fast (50kph), but over in seconds, and is not too much of a bother. The three storey slide was probably more fun, because you had to climb up the ladder at the back too. There is a great view of Burswood from the park, especially of the new stadium. I'm sure Splash City will be on again next season. It would be nice if they made some of the rides a little more permanent.

  10. Might want to check that link as linking to a file on your computer won't help those of us not using your computer when it comes to seeing what's linked.

  11. So hubby & I observed a few signs of activity happening down at the Rocky Hollow Log Ride this afternoon. The water pumps had been evidently switched on, as the fountains in the reservoir were running for the first time in months. There was water in the station trough, (although the rest of the track was still dry). The maintenance window at the top of the drop shed was open, suggesting that maintenance has been taking place up there in the past few days (it was closed previously). Definitely some activity happening in there at the moment, and hopefully an early indication that they plan to reopen the ride soon. Fingers crossed ☺️?

  12. Looks good, would have to be one of the longest Waves out there due to that open air section before the helix, but I think if they had shunted the whole tower a few meters further north they would be able to mirror the landing pool and add a second slide utilising the conveyor at some point in the future more easily. I wonder if in the long term they'll remove the go karts? It's a huge plot of nice flat land in an otherwise heavily sloped park and you can easily imagine 4 or 5 slide complexes being arranged around the edge of that bowl of land, with a wave pool or lazy river in the middle.
