  1. That doesn't look like paint removal... moreso it looks like they've had to patch it - perhaps something got a little scratched in transit or lifting, so they've had to patch the area - the grey looks like a primer \ rust protector, and they've probably let it dry before they come back at touch it up with the correct colour. If anyone sees them painting those areas, shout out to them and ask them what colour they're using!

  2. As already said, there is plenty of movement, with a couple more pieces installed, but today it seems the focus is moving the footings from the carpark to the coaster site. Tried the best I could to get some photos of the footings at the station and break run area, but with the new fencing it has made it a bit trickier. There seems to be even more pieces of track on site now, some with a good curve to them. You'll also notice a number of pieces have had some of the paint removed off parts of the track.

  3. Why play music when the riders can just use their #pureimagination

  5. Spent Easter Monday at Adventure World. It was about 25 degrees here and overcast, yet there was a good crowd. The service at the cabanas was really attentive and much improved over the past. Apparently, the new CEO is called Kevin Smith and has worked in hospitality (not low budget films). The substation is being built up the back of Inferno. Interestingly enough, the conduits lead to a small fenced off area behind the filters for the racing slides. I've been told the ride will be in this area. There's a nice flat bit of land behind the Rampage. The old castle island and the Cirque Extreme area are also nearby. Still no clue as to what the ride really is.

  7. Just stumbled across this while browsing youtube, nice to see some international enthusiasts speculating on this coaster. Trigger warning... He does call the track Pink once or twice maybe... *Probably should have posted in colour/theme thread, cant seem to delete.

  8. It is not fair to judge a coaster such as Space Mountain to a giga such as Steel Dragon. Both are different rides and give different experiences. Thrill coasters, on one hand, are about speed and intensity. Themed coasters, on the other hand, are about immersion and telling a story. This is why Disney rides have a reputation for being the best themed in the world. Take Radiator Springs Racers for example. That ride aims to authentically re-create the world of the Cars films through its theming and landscaping and immerse guests in that world and tell a story through animatronics, music and special effects. On the other hand, a thrill coaster such as Fury aims to go fast and give its riders an intense ride, without immersing them in a world or telling guests a story. Many thrill coasters (TOT2, Buzzsaw and Cyclone in its heyday) have tried to use both, but have done one or the other extremely poorly (typically theming). For me, personally, I like rides that have used a combination of both elements with great success, and good examples of this is Hulk, Space Mountain Mission 2, Rock N Roller Coaster and Expedition Everest. All four of these are obviously intended to be thrill rides, however each of them also have a theme that makes sense and immerses guests in a specific environment.

  9. If a coaster can get me to pull this face I would say it's a good coaster. The more face pulls the higher the rank.

  10. Oh I agree. I once got stuck on The Mummy at Universal for 2 hours, was probably one of the best experiences ever at a theme park but for some people this would not be a great experience.

  11. This topic has been discussed previously (maybe in the travelling fairs thread) from memory there was a divide in people's opinions, some of the belief that carnival rides are more susceptible to safety issues due to the constant pulling apart and rebuilding, whilst others believing that practice is what makes them safe as they are re-checked more often. I guess I'm in the former group, I just don't have the level of comfort on a carnival ride as I do on a permanently installed theme park ride. I do have a second take before I go on any of the 'bigger' or more intense Carnivale rides as they feel to be less safe. I guess I have the benefit of choice living near the theme parks on the GC so I can choose to skip the carnivals rides at the Ekka or a travelling fair and just head to the parks, a double win as I save money and remove the perceived risk in my mind. If I still lived in Sydney though, I'd probably be more receptive to travelling rides as they'd be my only options for regular rides

  12. It's a public holiday and the construction industry is usually pretty compliant with union regulations. Doubtful.

  13. Look the simple answer to this question is fast as all hell with some moments of feeling you might die. That's what makes a coaster awesome as hell.
