  1. I don't get why repainting these coasters is OK but repainting Whitewater World was considered as waste of money?

  2. @Tim Dasco and myself spent the afternoon at the Perth Royal Show sideshow alley preview day. How we got the invite was a story in itself. Tim went on lots of the rides(tons were open) and we got some great on and off ride footage. The weather wasn’t perfect and the new coaster wasn’t running(we did see some people walking the lift hill). Saw lots of the media and other influencers there. Tim got to talking with lots of the ride operators too.

  4. Seriously? Thanks AlexB - not sure why that particular post was offensive to ole Push - he wasn’t mentioned, it wasn’t even directed at him!! He is officially a cockwomble.

  5. Oh Joy! Decades old and still one of the greatest thrills on the midway, bar none. Not sure if we even still get the Zipper on the East Coast?

  6. Just when you thought that there was a Museum for everything, life comes and slaps you in the face. The World's First Vagina Museum will open in London on November the 16th. Please see the below link for the full story. https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/uk-vagina-museum-london-scli-gbr-intl/index.html I must admit, when I first read this I cracked up. I mean seriously, a Museum for Vaginas!! But the more I thought the more I could see that there is a hole in the market for something like this. Someone has worked years to get this off the ground, beavering away tirelessly to make it happen. Now it is here and they are ready to pull apart the beef curtain and let visitors enter. Oh i am sure this will have its detractors- there is always someone caught up in a flap but I reckon this will be a massive success. What do you guys reckon?? 😉

  12. For some reason, in both versions of the artwork, Vortex looks like it's a ride that lives at a resort rather than a theme park. 🤔 Other than that, the location is still horrible, Vortex is still an abstract name rather something that adds to an actual Atlantian theme, and the ride seems like it was selected purely as an 'F you' to DW rather than based off being a good fit for the park. Is there anything else to really say?

  13. I think that, as has been suggested, this tower will become a huge destination and crowd soaker for the park. The fact that there are 6 body slides means that this will certainly attract people wanting to try all 6 of the slides.- expect this to be very popular! Its great to see a body slide of this stature come back into vogue- no lugging mats or rafts to ride. Every park needs a selection of these type of slides and these look very well presented. Looking through the Polin website, they certainly do offer an excellent variety of installations and are a good alternative to Pro-Slide or Whitewater West. Canny move by Dreamworld to go with Polin ( for what ever the motivation is- I am betting price was a big factor). Its good to see a water park mix up their offerings so that they do not become a poster catalogue for one manufacturer (which WWW had drawn criticism for being previously.) Polin's Australian partner Swimplex Aquatics must be absolutely chuffed with this announcement and their recent installations around the nation. This will be their first foray into a major theme park in Australia and I am betting that it will not be there last!!!

  14. @joz You can still get towers like this from ProSlide or White Water West. But don’t get me wrong this slide tower will overall help give WWW a boast over WNW with something new and impressive visually to look at. While it is a cheaper company but considering everything else that’s been built or is being built I don’t think we can complain. It adds some much needed capacity to the park.

  15. The only thing I don't like about Polin is they have an over reliance on just doing helixes, and helixes become a bit boring once you get past about 540 degrees because you are stuck in a fixed turning position. If you look at Proslides stuff, its a lot more fluid and more directional changes that keep it exciting

  16. ^Polin did a pretty good animation for the Outback Splash installation too, except it included POVs as well.

  17. Polin is very popular in Australia at the moment. They’re also building the tower at Outback Splash.

  18. It seems, in their DA for Grand Gorge Falls & Koala Kove, they have inadvertently revealed a plan for an Alpine Coaster: Since it is difficult to see, I have highlighted the route of the the proposed Alpine Coaster. You can see the long lift hill (but it's fair to assume the queue will be via the Chairlift). The exit station is planned for the grass area immediately north of the bottom Chairlift station while the entry is planned for the rear of the top Chairlift station. And here it is with the Bobsleds & Chairlift highlighted: Superimposing it over Google Earth gets this roughly: (I'm sure it extends around to the rear of the top Chairlift station though as per above plans): No other details about this have been found, including whether or not they plan to proceed with it. It seems it will be in addition to the popular Bobsleds.
