  1. @AlexB valid point, but I feel something a lot better could be used within that space. I definitely didn't mind when it alternated between the the fast river rapids and the spas. I remember having a good on the original attraction and it was quite good, even if it did become a bit chaotic at times. If anyone doesn't remember it or not what we are on about, here's a video

  2. Plenty of work happening across the entire area of the precinct Vortex construction. Still working on ground works with plenty of pipe work visible. I don’t think we will see this open until after the school holidays Leviathan Construction. In some of these photos you can see a timber structure being built which I believe will be the station (someone correct if otherwise). The grass from the Sea Viper site has been removed and replaced by gravel. The seating area next to Jet Rescue has also been removed and instead an extension queue for the ride has been installed. I wonder if this means they are going to adjust the rides entrance since so many just walk straight past it

  3. A look at the completed slides. All fencing in the carpark is now gone @Gazza doesn’t seem they will be installed either, which I’m surprised by

  4. Quoting this because it never ceases to amaze me when people cant tell when it is either a kid under 12, or someone on the spectrum posting.

  5. I was in Adelaide, this weekend. Arrived in Glenelg by tram, which reminded me a lot of St Kilda. Saw the Ferris Wheel by the sea, before paying a quick visit to the Beach House FEC. It’s very much for young families and tweeners, with bumper boats, bumper cars, an historic merry go round, a couple of waterslides, a kids train, Wild West mini golf and lots of arcade machines. You get a card and choose whether you want to pay per attraction or for the day.

  7. The new helicopter centre is now open and in full operation. The in park booth is now closed. It will be interesting to see if they utilise it in peak periods. I do like that this now creates a hub for the parks additional experiences

  8. I'm not sure I understand this point. The attraction worked the same way as a lazy river - with slippery tiled surfaces on the wall, as opposed to the sandpapered-style of Calypso. Speed wasn't too much faster, and unlike Calypso - everyone was moving in the same constant direction and speed. It was also easier to observe for the operator, as opposed to Calypso which has several spots one can muck about without the staff paying too much attention. It was deep enough that a fall from the tube wouldn't hurt, but shallow enough that nobody could really 'horseplay' as such. Riders were to remain seated throughout the ride and the operator would turn off the flow immediately if there were any issues, with only residual motion after that point. I really don't see any particular injury risk here at all, and the video above should also show that. For those who are struggling to put the two types of ride together - about centre of shot for most of the video is a darkened underwater almost-heart-shape. this is one of the several spas, covered over.

  10. Yeah, it was fine. There are plenty of nice bars and cafes, nearby. Adelaide certainly doesn’t have a lot to offer, ride-wise, but Glenelg is an attractive beach side town.

  11. Continuing on from this comment, I was just watching the concept video and you can see a path cutting through the site from BS to GD is there (Right side of images). So either they have changed their minds (which I hope they haven't) or they just didn't add it in to the concept art

  12. On the contrary, when we go with a group, we usually set up camp near the whirlpool, and agree to meet back there at certain times. While waiting for the rest of our group, a dip in the spas is a great way to stay cool and keep the littler kids amused. It is also a great escape for those with sensory issues as it is much quieter. I've only ever experienced Whirlpool in its summer incarnation once (for those unaware, the spas are covered up, and the whole area flooded to create a massive whirlpool a little like a mini lazy river, but a bit faster) - but I believe they've removed most of the functionality of that, which is why it remains as spas year-round now. Its a shame they stopped doing the conversion, as on the day I saw it converted, it carried a decent queue.

  13. @Adventures With JWorld They deleted it when the first 20+ posts on it said either “it’s closed” or “it’s never open when I go there”

  15. I know it's a sensitive topic, but it'd be crazy to get rid of a water ride at a Gold Coast theme park and not replace it with another water ride. Especially one that caters so well to a broad market.

  16. I was wondering the same thing... putting the pads outside the gate means they expand their potential audience as you don't need a park ticket to ride... I'm wondering though whether the captive market inside the park will be as 'impulsive' at taking a ride when its all the way outside the gates...

  17. Jet Rescue is one of the best "family" coasters I've been on, outside of Disney parks. Great mix of speed and moderate force without being too intimidating for younger riders.

  18. Is it ironic that the one line where you condemn those who can't type properly is the one line where you have made a pretty decent mistake? While I do find it hard to read some of those posts, I don't think it's the worse thing ever as you seem to have put it. I can understand their intent and majority of what they were trying to say. Not everyone can be a perfect 10. The one thing I will agree with you on is the direction of travel discussion. For a group of theme park enthusiasts, I thought majority of us would know a general idea of basic physics.
