  1. Nah - they'll put something up there. Judging by the changes we've seen to the Vortex design, and the Leviathan theming, my guess is when the tower goes up, instead of a three pronged trident, we'll get the 12 pronged rake!

  2. I'm still anticipating SW take up my suggestion and go with a hoop as the crowning piece. It will be impressive to watch dolphins jump though the hoop. SW will perhaps train the dolphins to give Justice for Captives the fin as they soar through the hoop. If a dolphin can't reach the height, I would be fine with SW shooting a dolphin out of a cannon.šŸ‘

  3. Wasn’t sure if I should create a new thread or not so I’ll just put it here. But trident is on site. It’s great to finally see some progress. Seeing as though they haven’t started the foundation yet it might be a bit till it goes vertical. Thanks to themeparkqueen_au on Instagram.

  4. @pazzap if you are near 50 i feel sorry for you, because the way you have responded to @Jobe's thread and ideas is pre-teen level at best. He put a heap of thought and effort into an idea, and for you to just jump on and throw shit at it, when he put more effort into one post than you have in all the contributions you have made in all your time coming in and out over the years is petulant at best. You don't have to agree with his plans, but as others have, engage in a discussion rather than acting like an arrogant dick.

  7. Village don't need to make an announcement! They haven't even built it yet! Page 47 of the Village Roadshow Theme Park Manual states: ^If you laughed, you're welcome. If you didn't laugh - scroll on. Nobody has to take life that seriously. In all seriousness though, you're probably right - Atlantis wasn't planned to go this far on, but they still appear to be aiming for a summer opening, so if there was to be an announcement, pushing it back 6 months so you don't overshadow your massive (long overdue) investment makes a lot of sense. I just can't believe how many people are shooting down Movie World, when it is in fact the park with the most recently opened new coaster on the GC, just because they aren't building one at the same time as the other parks that haven't added a new coaster in twice as long.

  8. I toyed with the car joke but opted for more local humour. Well played sir. I'd offer my usual response to tell you to sod off, but it seems appropriate here... oh fuck off.

  9. Oh my young padawan. Dreamworld let the Eureka Mountain Mine Train stand, not operating, from 2006 to 2017. The motivation to do ANYTHING with it was probably born out of the loss of Thunder River and the need to either restore it to operating condition (a ludicrous concept by park management) or to demolish it (as the rest of Goldrush needed to be anyway). As for not having a new attraction in 4 years - bear in mind that two of those years was in a pandemic, and the parks suffered numerous shutdowns in that time Movie World is part of a group - and as long as i've followed these parks, the parks have usually taken it in turns to get something new (although Wet N Wild suffered for a few years from lack of attention) BOTH of the other 'ride' parks in the chain - SW and WNW are seeing new attractions constructed this year. Atlantis was supposed to be finished last year, and WnW was this year's plan. Which means MW's next attraction may not be far off (although do bear in mind we've seen a lot of refurb work going on too - RoadRunner is about to open with a new train and ride system). Steel Taipan Vs. Leviathan - putting aside any issues or delays with construction - just comparing the actual ride that will eventually open - 'much better' and 'modern' aren't really any sort of justification. Wooden coasters are being built every year around the world. They are traditionally older technology but that doesn't mean the current rides being built are old. Each have their own points of difference. I think it will be a very hard thing for even the coast's most astute enthusiasts to categorically state one is so much better than the other - just 'different' and 'in their own way'. It does remain to be seen however - so passing judgment now, whatever the outcome, is foolish. Anyhow - with all that said - I don't see how you can justify that MW will be declining in 10 years time, simply for the reasons you state. In the past 5 years, Dreamworld killed four people, and removed (or will soon remove) 7 or more attractions, and have only installed two new ones, and yet, with that track record, you're saying Dreamworld is on the rise, and this is apparently and ostensibly because of Steel Taipan? One coaster does not a good park make. I'll leave you with this - 10 years is a long time. 10 years ago - Movie World opened Green Lantern. Also 10 years ago - Dreamworld opened Buzzsaw.

  11. Someone needs to buy all the land near Western Sydney airport and stop all the land going into housing developments, for the theme parks that will go in will have to be a Disneyland with Galaxy's Edge, Avengers Campus, Pandora of Avatar, make similar lands to what is in Disneyland and Disneyworld already, make the park be Californian themed, classic Disney themed and put some Australian theming in. Also include a Disneyland resort. The second theme park that would have to come in would have to be a Universal Studios with Harry Potter world with Hogwarts and Diagon Alley, Jurassic World themed area, King Kong themed area, the mummy themed area, transformers themed area and so on. The alternative should be a six flags park with lots of thrill rollercoasters like the parks in the US. If a park wants to survive it needs decent roller coasters, decent thrill rides, no putt putt golf, no overly sized kids areas with crappy rides like many theme parks in Australia do.

  13. If you think there’s an interesting story about this being delayed amid a global pandemic that has delayed virtually every other attraction on the planet then I’m all ears. I personally don’t think the narrative is anywhere near as compelling as Sky Voyager’s delays amid years of mismanagement and a botched recovery plan, but each to their own. I genuinely encourage any of you to write such a piece and send it through if you think it’s of interest — I’d be more than happy to publish a well written piece on the subject. Given that @TimmyG and @Tinter were both previously banned from this site I’m not too surprised that they are back with the same tired ā€˜Parkz is biased’ stuff. One created fake accounts to cause trouble, lied about it repeatedly when asked and ultimately got themselves banned only to create a whole fake persona to rejoin and lie to me yet again about who they were. The other just seems to enjoy disrupting this community for fun. They’re also both behind the Golden Years Facebook page but that’s neither here nor there in their banning, though it does provide context and likely motives for their undermining behaviour. Neither have reached out to apologise, clarify or justify their past actions. At some point it’s just plain harassment though and I’ll reiterate that it’s not something we are entertaining anymore.

  14. I love everything about this idea except this. The costs of registration should be going to the charitable organisation. The fundraising should be an option, but it shouldn't be required. Operational costs should be met by the sponsors. If a family of 5 decides to join - they've all paid between $100-170 total to participate, and in turn they've got to find an additional $100 to squeeze out of friends and family? Are they not allowed to participate if they don't meet their fundraising goal? do they get their registration fee back? Sounds less like a fun run and more like a fund run.

  15. If only there was somewhere VRTP could update the people who are super interested on the various stages of construction but not flood their socials with the less interesting updates. Just throwing ideas around, like maybe a construction blog. Maybe even host it on a VRTP owned website like https://themeparks.com.au/blog In fact I would specifically use this exact URL for no apparent reason. https://themeparks.com.au/blog/leviathan-construction?_ga=2.228424925.1978216344.1632288136-402189983.1632288136&_gac=1.245491248.1632288136.EAIaIQobChMI4fiwkOuR8wIVaJlmAh1DbgdKEAAYASAAEgKRrfD_BwE

  17. Here's the first suggestion. Chance Hyper GTX instead of Zamperla thunderbolt. and YES, the one at OWA even with second gen trains is full of jackhammering and even a couple deep pothole moments.. it's a good layout that just rides terribly. Although I do believe gen 3 trains coming (probably won't make a difference). it's better than the one at Luna Park but only because those restraints staple you and get worse as the ride goes on.It's not like it's smoother or something LOL. Anyway, I just saved you 3 million dollars for a much, much better ride. Of course I know the brand names but all the coasters you have suggested are terrible. Every single choice. You've specifically gone and made a park with the exact sort of brand names that Anka did, and they proved the model doesn't work. They had ONE decent coaster and even that is just the wrong choice (intamin 10 inversion rev b and their only big brand name). You are very cheeky, I was going by what you were saying and NOT using the main brand names, that doesn't mean I don't know the ones you used. They are just utter garbage and your park would 100% fail. I guarantee it. No one wants to pay for a theme park unless the rides are spectacular. Just like Steel Taipan will not save Dreamworld.. one good coaster isn't enough. I don't know what you want to hear, do you want me to pamper your idea? You were quite rude where as I initially wasn't, telling me how "preposterous" I am.. so let me put it bluntly: Yours is the worst idea for a theme park I have ever seen in my near 50 years. EVER. When I have seen really bad parks that fail, in the real world, and wonder to myself "how on Earth could someone even think this was a good idea, this sort of person doesn't exist in reality", you've gone and shown me that people who design terrible parks do exist. I'm out, you obviously want to stick to crap and not have real feedback, so, I've got better things to do.

  18. I think Anka Park is proof that quantity over quality simply doesn't work. Mind you they also have a little more than 3x our population, so imagine that in a country of 26 million. If Wonderland failed so miserably, what you are proposing has zero chance.. it would never ever work. If you want to talk realistic with actual rides any sane person opening a theme park would buy, then let's talk. That includes brand names, in other words.
