  1. So at the end of my relaxing and theme park filled little holiday away from Sydney, I too will sing the praises and virtues of the Star Tour as did it today (with a couple of Parkz members as well that I stupidly forgot to find out their forum name but looking at past posts I suspect it was @Invertedand his wife. Hi again if it was) Firstly Scott and Luke were great as hosts and did a great job with their fun facts and interesting Easter eggs they pointed out along the way and I'm guessing the cat's out the bag as were no "don't tell anyone else stories" like the early tours had. Ticked all the boxes from the previous tours with AA walk, SE pre start up/winch room, JL3D walk, kitchen,Stunt Driver stuff,Scooby Walk etc. As well as a little bonus of the Friday the 13th maze walk through and when I mentioned that maybe future tours could incorporate the Villians Unleashed interactive area to my surprise we all got a free RFID wristband which was a cool unexpected bonus! Other random thoughts - Killer Croc and the Joker are the 2 best elements in VU and a lot of fun getting unsuspecting people standing in the wrong spots - VR on AA is amazing and can never go back to just riding it normally after that plus getting 2 free rides of it helped ? - Seeing all the front roller coaster construction in person instead of through these forums was a treat and really got an idea of just how massive this coaster is gonna be seeing the size of the area All in all a good day was had by all

  2. All watch out for imminent announcement on Social media regarding our new " Cirque Extreme" show for the Summer school holidays. Big top thrills, free show, twice daily. Mark

  3. All this talk of a second station for VR (which won't happen) or separate queues is pointless when comparing to other rides that offer VR free, in this case Revolution. The ride is listed as 1400 pph before VR was added. It would now be struggling to get 400 pph and that's with two trains. There is no way to speed up the loading as mentioned you can't pre-load the VR, compare it to Arkham all you want but that ride is VR optional and already low capacity so the VR has not had the negative impact that a high capacity ride like Revolution has had. The park only needs one VR coaster experience and it should be left with Arkham as being it.

  4. Sorry VR fans but I see absolutely zero point in MW building a great coaster, which by all accounts will use height & speed as key thrill factors, only to then strap something over your eyes so you can't/don't see what's going on. VR is a gimmick, just like 3D movies. I'm yet to ride a coaster that absolutely nails it, and I'm not certain it can be completely 'nailed'. Just as I'm yet to see a single movie outside of Avatar that utilises 3D to the point it actually improves the experience beyond doubt. MW won't risk their largest ever investment made on an individual attraction (rumoured, and maybe not exceeding WWF given inflation) on a gimmick, they'll stick to what is tried & true.

  5. Honestly the Catatonic VR was just part of the VR craze that's going around theme parks at the moment, I doubt we'll hear of it again because if it's not in use any more this year I'm sure by the time fright nights rolls around next year the craze will well and truly be over and there'll be new things for them to do.

  6. Wow. I'm thinking next year they should purely just focus on the things that really make FN. The mazes and precincts. The panic rooms are a great addition, along with the UTT. But these extra things like the VR, after parties and sleepout, personally I don't think are needed. Yes, it's good to see them trying new things, and if they don't work they may no bother again. I do think they did a good job with them this year, but some parts could've been better, and the precincts are a bit underwhelming at times. With these last minute announcement of additional elements, just seems that some things were just an quick idea that they thought they'd do. In saying that, I can only the imagine the huge amount of effort and hours that are put into the event, and maybe after last year (which I think is the best FN out of the ones I've been to), i set the bar to high. I had a great time this year, but feel like they could've made it even better.

  7. Aw hype - this diagram should help. Orange is the path ways, Blue is Station, Green is Track.

  10. I don't know about this one to be honest. The entire park runs on like 6 staff, so to add an attraction that takes that many again just seems like such a strange move. It also doesn't really seem like it fits the vibe of the place particularly well. As always will reserve final judgement till I see it in action, but must admit far from sold on the idea at this point.

  11. This seems pretty definitive ... Would really be one to doubt this info given Janine is always pretty on the money.

  12. You really think they are going to operate 2 stations, likely requiring 2 staff per station? We can't even get 2 trains running on SE off peak and you want multiple stations?

  13. Except no one knows this is being exaggerated until whatever it is has been announced. And what I was saying earlier is that even if the que is short, dispatch times are still long with VR on the train. But it seems the VR brigade will not be silenced so we'll just wait and see hey.

  14. For the love of God NO VR! We don't need more than one coaster with VR, it's not a slap it on every ride item. One unique experience is fine. Just enjoy the real outdoor actual life life kids and get out of the video game for just one day.

  15. A tip for bored kids at school: don't sign up with your official school email address if you want to troll. It makes it really easy for admins to see who and where you are.

  18. If the ride was designed for VR then maybe they designed a dual station. So that they can load trains with VR in one station and use the other station for normal rides. So this way they can load one of the trains with VR and lets say another 2 trains for normal operations. Assuming this is a big hyper coaster they are going to need more than 1 train. So this way non VR people don't have to wait for VR people to load and get the VR headsets set up.
