  1. Wow. So much effort for such little achievement. How sad.

  2. This whole thread in a nutshell: my local shopping centre does dining experiences that are better. my local Maccas does fast food that's better. when I go to other places they treat me better. Like in all honesty, spending the few extra cents to the dollar to get the nice chips instead of the chips that won't even cook properly and giving staff some love from middle management means I won't feel like i'm being ripped off or that i'm just a number to your corporation and therefore I might come back more often, shock horror right?

  3. Haven't really discussed much in the way of Merch - but you're right. I'm sick of the shops within the parks that sell surf-wear brands without any tie-in (rip curl \ billabong \ roxy etc) - like at WnW I get it - if you visit and you don't already have something to swim in, that'd be nice, but not as much of an issue at the other parks. One of my favourite souvenirs to pick up at a park is a polo shirt. I live in polo shirts, so i'm always looking to add to the variety. The parks always used to have quite unique offerings in this area, but now there aren't many options - and the option they do have is the same shirt with a different logo (eg: sea world sells it with a dark shark sillouette, movie world sells the same shirt with a black and gold movie world logo). On my last visit there was maybe one other option - same shirt style, but in a different colour, with the sea world logo in white, but no other options. There's always plenty of t-shirts - and sure, t-shirts are easy to spit out mass produced vinyl printed imagery for any random event you decide to throw on - but put a little flavour into something a little classier. Make them a limited batch for each event - even if they sell out early - i guarantee there are people out there who want more than just another t-shirt (plus the collar is more sun safe too!)

  5. With Topgolf officially open, the connection bridge between the attraction and Movie World is now open And it gives some pretty cool new angles of the ride And if you park in the front carpark, this path runs alongside the netting to the entrance One of my first thoughts is that there isn’t any actual signage around the carparks. They may install them over time, but I think they need a sign at the start of this path to say where the entrance is. And the same over on the MW side. Also some signage in the carpark is needed, because we depsite their being road markings, people are ignoring them and driving the opposite way on a one way carpark (This is the carpark next to the main entrance)

  8. Whilst I can't disagree with the thrust of your argument @Roachie, on a simple turn of the facts, he's right - they don't NEED to... the point is simply that they SHOULD.

  11. I hope they still use some practical sets and not just screens and projections otherwise pretty positive stuff. 1 million dollars seems like a pretty good budget and hopefully they use it well. Not really excited for the addition of next generation to the name but will probably not matter much.

  12. Sounds about normal for Queensland drivers. They aren't exactly the smartest bunch when it comes to things like that.

  13. Spot on @AlexB! Why buy Surf brands in a Theme Park when you can get the same shit at your local Shopping Centre for a fraction of the Price? Same goes with Food. Domino's Pizza is as common as Catfood Nationwide and hardly memorable Family dining. Completely uninspired and outrageously over-priced as it is currently experienced at SW. Point of difference is the key here. Offer Products and Services that can only be experienced while inside our Parks.. After all that is why People visit them in the first place! ..No wonder so many are leaving disappointed.

  14. Assuming this is the new Western Show Stage Entry? Putting a ramp in by an area that is almost barely ever used seems like a lot of trouble for nothing.. UNLESS a new Show (or at least temporary Holiday attraction for now?) is on it's way to an otherwise perpetually dead area of the Park? Hmmm...

  16. There's some fantastic posts in this topic! Cheers to all that have contributed. I agree with many of the posts, as I too have the same thoughts about MW and the GC parks. The GC park's themed entertainment offering has stagnated for many years. Yes we have better mechanical rides then we did 10 years ago, but the themeing, customer service, overall showmanship, merch and shows are all at the same standard (if not a worse) than 10 years ago. I think this feeling of 'our parks are mediocre' is further exacerbated by seeing the current standard of themeparks overseas; which is constantly getting better and better, and is currently at such a high standard.

  17. Probably because they announced the event only a week before it began, and not as many knew about it

  18. Yeah they probably are using that photo because they want the park to actually not look like a piece of shit.

  20. Fair to say that's the golden era of Sea World right there.

  21. Why would you change it - the rides were so much cooler then. I'm going to go on that roller coaster, and then that volcano thing, before hitching a ride on those skyway gondolas. Afterwards, you could cool off in the afternoon on that massive water slide. Day made!
