  1. The gold rush theme is dead. The whole dilapidated look is dead. There is a high chance that Buzzsaw will be changed to reflect this. The only question is when.

  2. Pretty happy with this announcement, especially considering the video promotes a "never before seen show". Cosentino has been my favourite of the limited time engagements so far.

  3. After SV efforts I thought we were all in agreement that coherent theming was no longer DW's thing.

  4. Well all of the above is why I say it would be good if the middle screen was going. Because the side ones are in front of a bare concrete wall, so they don’t detract from jack squat. Main Street also has zero thematic cohesion to start with and hasn’t for a long time.

  5. Sidewinder entry all boarded up at today’s visit.

  6. Disagree. For one, how on earth will those near the fountain ever hear about Village e-serrrrrrrrrrrve?

  7. Gee I dunno at 52cents I reckon its worth a look. Assuming they get through the next 2 years there's a lot of potential upside at that price. It's a pretty decent sized 'If' though.

  8. Disagree. You only need the screen for the parade is just a terribly designed ‘parade’ that is mostly show at daily planet. We’ve seen at white Christmas how a properly designed parade has no ‘feature point’ and the screen wasn’t needed at all. Opening up the facade would make for a much more attractive street and I hope it is removed. As for comments about the other screen and old tech and difficulty about connecting to it. I think that’s saying more about the skills of the people working the recent and less about the screen. It takes a standard 1080p signal over DVI. You can patch any scaler into it to input whatever you like so whoever is saying it’s difficult is telling porkies

  9. Yeah I am happy with that, I thought his show along with Funhouse were highlights last year. The monster course was also decent and got me doing some cardio trying to keep up with Mr 7 year old haha. looking forward to it

  10. Given it's close proximity to the new Steel Taipan Coaster, what if "Hiss-teria" will be a re-branding of "Buzzsaw"? Just like the "GoldCoaster", it seems like a good (and cheap) way to promote an old ride as something new. It would fit the slightly different theme of the Coaster more accurately too, while distancing from the Gold Rush theme once and for all. Thoughts?

  13. Just in case anyone is wondering, the orange is normally electrical, white is for data/comms cable, blue for water. Most of the locator company's use these three colours as standard with storm water and drains being a random colour. The markings will normally show the size of the conduit, the numbers and the depth to the top of the conduit. The more I look at some of the photos closely, the green could be fibre optic cables but only a guess. Hope that helps...

  14. Wait till they bottom out, buy a couple hundred bucks worth of shares. If it recovers, woo. If not, you didn't lose too much

  15. Maybe? I don’t know those details. But I stand by everything I said. To some degree, no one expected Cyclone/ Hot Wheels to get rethemed this year, so there’s still 8.5 months left in the year, anything’s possible.

  16. ^ not since the "roof"? Agreed.

  17. Personally I detest the screens at the end of the street. They block the buildings and have absolutely zero thematic cohesion to the rest of the classic 1950's Hollywood Main Street style. Adding more screens only worsens the problem & will draw attention to the ratshit picture quality of the main one in the middle. I do however quite like @AlexB idea to add screens down the front area - I'd prefer between Superman & Batwing so it doesn't affect the aesthetic of the buildings of Main St and again so People down the entry area can see what's going on.

  18. In time for the new Coaster to open? Maybe the new area will be promoted as a Country Australia theme - little effort required and would tie in well to the Corroboree Animal area it extends to.

  19. I’d like to see them remove the big one and just have the two smaller side ones. MWs great appearance went when the roof was installed and this screen really made it worse

  20. I do agree with DJ, there should be less screens. Get rid of all 3 as far as I’m concerned. If they are worried people won’t be able to see the masterpiece of a show/s they hold on Main Street, maybe they should hold their major shows in a show performance space with tiered seating. Novel idea hey? The only shows that should be done on Main Street are parades, and streetmosphere style of entertainment.

  21. Skeet parenting tip 001. "2020" you don't try and keep up with your kids, you put a tracking device on them and find them latter.

  22. replace the main one, sure, but i hope they aren't removing it. While gaining Daily Planet back as theming, those side screens wouldn't be visible down main street. In all honesty - For those who watch the parade or can't fit down the 'main' part of main street, I'd love to see them put another screen up right here: *This google street view image is proudly brought to you by @Slick

  26. The market on the whole has experienced huge losses in recent weeks so that's what we're seeing with Ardent to some extent. Few examples however have been as dramatic as Ardent. They've slashed about two-thirds of their market cap in the past month and they're one of the 'biggest losers' on the ASX in 2020. Inquest findings and growing coronavirus fears obviously play into it but inquest findings are not unforeseen and Ardent's share price losses outpace the rest of the market amid coronavirus uncertainty. Remember too that investors at the time of the accident completely wrote off Dreamworld in share price losses. Ardent also wrote down its book value of Dreamworld to the point where the land is presumably worth more than the entity. Dreamworld's value to investors is strictly in terms of potential, not performance. The half year results were not great. Main Event is floundering in a supposedly flourishing US economy. That business hit a wall several years ago and seems lifeless as ever of late. Dreamworld saw a 2.9% attendance growth off the back of Sky Voyager and a concerted effort at special events. That kind of negligible growth from historic lows following major investment and a more focused marketing strategy than we've seen in years is a big red flag and I wouldn't be so quick to say that the park is back on track because they've painted a few things and held some nice events. It looks like there are wider confidence issues surrounding Ardent Leisure. Three years ago a property developer and a corporate raider joined forces, bought up about 10% of Ardent and waged a public war to gain control of the Ardent board. Their pitch was that they knew how to fix Ardent with a three year plan to deliver $1 billion to investors. They got their board seats and now three years on about $700 million in market cap has disappeared. Their own investment in the company has lost them somewhere up near $70 million. On the plus side they've learnt a valuable lesson that just about anyone could have told them: you can't flip a theme park. Anyway that's the short version of the article I would have written in recent weeks if I had the time/inclination. Just throw in a bit more sarcasm and some big words.

  27. Legit, my wedding vows included a line to the effect of 'i will never use the single rider line again'. So, not always an option.... 🤣
