  1. It'd be nice if they kept the attraction current with what is in the park. Young Einstein's gravity homestead certainly wouldn't make sense today. But boot hill is still IN the park, and the JDS layout isn't park-accurate, so as long as it's in the park, it isn't as big of an issue as now defunct and demolished attractions. Which was the point of the OP's original comment.
  2. FWIW, Bush Beast and Beastie were both built in ~6 months, and many seasonal parks that have built woodies have done so in their 6 month operating shutdown. They don't really take any longer to build, although the super big out and back layouts obviously do take longer (and so do steel coasters of the same vein). As for fix\maintenance, it depends on what breaks. The carpenters at wonderland would be hammering things in daily, and daily inspections identified things to fix up which in many cases was a board here \ stringer there. Retracking is obviously a much more onerous task, but the thing to consider here is - you can... If a steel coaster's track is rough (hello Arkham), there isn't much you can do to fix it.
  3. Does he discuss how block zones work? I am a person who is unfamiliar.
  4. I would suggest, after the past couple of years, that they appear to have learned their lesson now about announcing stuff until they know for sure. which is probably really good given the multiple reschedules they've already had. Any momentum they would have gained from a teaser campaign has been shattered by the missed deadlines so once they know when they'll be ready and start training crew \ knocking out 1000 cycles or whatever, they can then start shouting from the rooftops a firm date (and soft open when ready to do so.)
  5. After missing the early september date, the next logical date is Boxing day. I'd like to see them do a soft open pre-christmas, but with all the issues we've had to this point - i'll wait until I see firm operations before I make plans.
  6. The winds were unusually high at the nearest weather station with an anemometer, but not specifically at the coaster, so this is just more unfounded speculation on your part. You have no evidence whatsoever.
  7. Ah. Got it. So you have absolutely no idea what the wind readings were from the coaster's weather monitoring equipment. Just so we're clear.
  8. Yep. Wonderland's wardrobe team were some of the hardest working bunch in the park!
  9. Yeah, I'm just wondering why @Levithianmentioned it at all, since it's in both...
  10. it was always too cheap where it was at. I feel as though it played poor cousin to FN as FN had to take up the bulk of the funding when both events were bundled with annual passes. Now each can stand on their own, perhaps they can improve the christmas offering by improving their budget too.
  11. Because, as enthusiasts, we'd much prefer to be able to follow every minute construction detail than build giant walls to hide the mess.
  12. I actually checked on YouTube before I replied - it definitely is in JDS: Right behind scooby castle
  13. I'm generally in this camp too. Increasing prices for events as well as for entry \ annual passes does unfortunately mean some people can't afford to go all the time, and that is a sad situation for them to be in - but it is a priority thing and if it isn't worth that much for you to go (or to go as often) then that's the decision you make. I stopped going to FN quite some time ago as it was too crowded, and almost impossible to do everything on offer without paying a premium or visiting multiple times. I'd be quite happy to pay a higher price for a better experience.
  14. I mean, absolutely the woman is to be blamed for entering a ride envelope instead of asking the operator for assistance, but the "ride operator" (collectively) is also responsible if the ride envelope can be breached so easily.
  15. Scooby Doo used to have that for fire safety. Was this an anti-valley measure or was it a cost-saving 'don't cycle almost empty' measure? As far as i'm aware it hasn't valleyed prior to that rule, and it was implemented at a time when the park was definitely pinching pennies. Sure, i'll humor you. But - let's be very clear - i'm not stating these are true. I have no basis for my suggestions - they are speculative (as are yours mind you) but they are what I would consider reasonable possibilities. (Please for the love of god let's not spend the next 10 pages dissecting this) My first thought when I heard about this was that a wheel delaminated. It's rare that it wouldn't be picked up in morning checks (especially as one of the first cycles of the day) and even rarer that it would stall the train - but it is still possible. Could they have swapped wheels with the incorrect type? (Nylon vs. Polyurethane?) If too many fast wheels are swapped for slow ones they can slow the train enough to cause a valley. And lastly, (and also the most unlikely) could something external have freakishly gotten jammed in the running gear mid-course? A bird... a stick... ? Just a reminder - this is pure speculation. The park hasn't made a statement, and they probably won't. We don't know, but many reasons have been given for why it couldn't have been wind, or solely wind. I also agree it probably wasn't these reasons - as I mentioned - this was to humor one person who can't recognise that they're sitting at a table with a lot of people who know better, but can't disclose it. I am definitely not one of them.
  16. I tell you, the lack of work here is very disappointing. School holidays start in a week, and I don't expect they'll be able to move these straight back into the station - probably need a maintenance checkup before going back into service...
  17. But that's the sting - "we presented you with a shit offering that day - pay us more money and try your luck again - maybe it'll be better, maybe it wont!" Thats very different to: "we're so busy we understand you might want to spend more time doing everything so for just a little more you can have another whole day to try and get everything done!" An additional day should be offered to guests at no charge with such a disastrous offering, whether issues were expected or not.
  18. Yeah, six flags used to have this (they called it a Twicket), but I always viewed this as a "there was so much to do, we'd like to come back another day to experience everything" rather than a "everything was shut, and rather than get a refund, i'll volunteer to pay more money to waste a second day of my holiday repeating my mistakes." If you visited MovieWorld, and only Batwing, Superman and Doomsday were operating - would you want to come back?
  19. There's a number of parks that were previously in the Taft Broadcasting \ Kings Entertainment stable that have or had similar attractions to our Wonderland. As far as Bush Beast goes, BB was a mirrored layout, with all the turns in the opposite direction down under. Canada's Wonderland (Wilde Beast), California's Great America (The Grizzly) and Kings Dominion (Grizzly) were all identical layouts other than the mirroring - these were all modelled off of the original Coney Island Wildcat. CGA's The Grizzly was retracked by GCI not too long ago and is apparently a lot smoother. Fun Fact: Some blueprints \ plans that Bush Beast was built from were actually labelled "Grizzly" while some other earlier site layout plans and documents were labelled "Wildcat", so the inspiration is quite clear! I recently did a deep dive on California's Great America after the recent announcement of its pending closure, so here's a couple examples from CGA: Still Operating: a Bayern Kurve (Wizards Fury) and Wave Swinger (Dragon's Flight), Intamin Rapids (Snowy River), and an Intamin giant drop (Space Probe), along with the usual staples such as dodgem cars etc. Defunct attractions: a looping starship (Bounty's Revenge), and a 3-armed version of our Zodiac called SkyWheel (featured in Beverly Hills Cop 3).
  20. Word is superman was down earlier and has a 2+ hour wait right now.
  21. what if it had a turnstile? But no, just no. another pendulum type attraction is definitely not needed - IDGAF how much capacity it has.
  22. If there's no press release.... did it even happen? 😮
