Dreamworld Maintenance Schedule 2025

Recommended Posts

My first thought on KFF is potentially they're installing the rail line, but TS isn't impacted by that.

TS is 6 days though, more than enough time to complete a bunch of tasks - i'm not across the operations manual so who am I to judge whether a week is a long enough maintenance period for a flat ride...?

TS & kFF downtime doesn't look like annual maintenance.

I'm still surprised that Steel Tipan hasn't really had a maintenance period all though without it the park doesn't really have any coasters to fall back on like I know we have Jungle Rush but they need something thrilling. I honestly think Giant Drop is the signature thrill attraction after Steel Tipan at least in my opinion.

Gold Coaster was supposed to reopen next week, so either something has gone majorly wrong or the rumours that Big Brother will be on the expansion area behind WWW are true.

BB is returning in November and will air for 4-6 weeks, having a loud coaster operating next to the show wouldn’t be ideal, so it’s reopening aligns with that. They have also fenced off the entire back corner of the park after Tailspin, which is allowing them to do some work inside the Entertainment Centre.

I mean series one housemates could see and hear the tower of terror. I get that it's not ideal but deliberately shutting down a very visible coaster for the sake of filming the show is very poor form.

The ride is old however - it's entirely plausible that they've got a major maintenance issue to deal with and all that is just a coincidence... at least I hope so. They've been making a lot of good decisions recently so I'd hate for them to be taking such a backwards step.

Loosing an attraction for the show is a shame, but the events space is only used for ice skating, a wiggles show once a year and a very occasional boxing match for the night markets. 90% of the year that building is unused, so I see it as a positive to use it for the house. Really puts the house in the park and opens them up for opportunities to promote the show heavily in park and potential house tours in the summer (without the kilometre hike to get it to)

You forgot the occasional magic show. It's a flexible space that they can and do use for many things over the course of the year.

Look, it's certainly putting the venue to more use than it would normally get, but I wouldn't say that it's a better use.

I've long criticised MW for giving guest-spaces over to BOH functions - From Intencity being turned into First Aid (in part) and ShowStage being used to store floats, LTRR showbuilding being used to store maintenance gear, Stars Cafe being used as a ghost kitchen... And Sea World too with their maintenance and storage yard smack bang in the middle of the park.

So while I recognise that ultimately the show will bring Dreamworld revenue, and potentially visitation after the show has ended with house tours and the like, i'm not going to stand by and celebrate the loss of an in-park space.

Let's assume that they've commenced construction on the house for a November filming schedule - so 2 months construction fit out, 4-6 week filming schedule, open house for the entirety of the summer holidays, with teardown and bump out potentially February. Six months offline, and assuming it is successful, a return next year with construction again commencing towards the end of august.

I don't know if i'm keen on the park losing such a flexible event space for up to 6 months a year unless they have viable alternate options - which they don't currently.

Simple! DW should have pushed the maintenance back by a few months.

The new maintenance rules might make that difficult if this agreement has come together in a short time - though if the production returns next year they absolutely should realign the maintenance schedule to do that.

Like most it seems like a strange decision for me. I expected the conference centre to be used for the eviction shows etc, but not to be the house location, and the loss of a popular ride for multiple months is far from ideal.

A poster online who seems to have some knowledge over the production said they would be constructing a small outdoor area alongside the conference centre for the housemates - looking at the space they have to work with - the only place that would work is outside the entrance doors and flowrider used to be. Every other side of the conference centre is land locked. Could we potentially see the Trolls Village utilised for this purpose?

Either way, you'd think it would be unlikely they keep Barrel's Burger Bar open as thats a noisy high-traffic area during the day, and we'll likely see the area cordoned off just after Kickback Cove. Tailspin may give some overview of that area during production, so be interesting to see if that continues to run or they install quite high walls to block sight lines.

Same person online mentioned the eviction shows will be held within White Water World

I'm hoping this is just for the first year and a more permanent one is built next year. It's a bit annoying that the show limits capacity by closing off Gold Coaster and the general area.

My personal guess is the area marked will either be used as the outdoor area, or a hallway leading from the house in the exhibition centre to the outdoor area in Trolls Village. The Trolls Village area I feel would be better for the outdoor section as it isn't currently used now and it allows for a more permanent and larger backyard which doesn't have to be torn down and rebuilt every year, especially if the house remains in the exhibition centre full time.

There are some questions in regards to logistics with the house using the exhibition centre: I assume the Wiggles show held in November will probably be moved to the amphitheatre in Dreamland and the ice skating rink could potentially use the dodgem area.

The big problem remains with Tailspin: I feel that could potentially be closed off too as it's literally right next to the potential backyard and I don't think the housemates would like people on the ride potentially trying to yell at them from the ride, get their attention etc. Yes I believe they could see TOT from the backyard in the original show but it isn't like it was right next to the backyard, the ride facing right where the people could see the housemates and try to interact. Unfortunately that would then limit capacity even more having 2 rides and a restaurant closed off.

DW has proven with ST that they can maintain a ride without closing it down.  PLUS, we have seen flexibility in maintenance at DW before.  I think you might we onto something that the Big Brother deal was rushed.

@Brad2912 maybe the live shows will be in this undercover area.

The conference centre does have access to the other side - underneath gold coaster. An outdoor space could exist there without encroaching on the theme park - but what you've outlined does make more sense. essentially cutting off that entire end of Ocean Parade.

Ampitheatre in dreamland does not have the capacity for a wiggles show. more likely they'd take over mainstreet under the roof like they've done previously (although the Claw entrance is now in a different spot so that might not work either)

I'd be strongly objecting to them closing ANOTHER 'included' attraction like Dodgems in order to facilitate an upcharge skating attraction.

That is because ST was designed for it. You can't apply those rules to other rides with other manufacturer stipulations.

The live shows need more head room than the Shell provides. They'd be better off using the Dreamland ampitheatre and just limiting the live audience.

Yeah i know it has access, but it isn't really suitable to build an outdoor area in the surrounds of the gold coaster ride envelope - not to say it couldnt work, but with the apparent time constraints you'd think an area with foundations/cleared, some landscaping etc already in place would be the better choice.

Thankfully my son is well out of wiggles phase now, but all the years we saw them at dreamworld it was always on Main St and worked well.

This is the area the poster referred to as the location - i do agree with you that it doesn't seem production suitable at all for tv lighting and cameras etc.

I know ST wasn't designed for it @DaptoFunlandGuybecause I have a maintenance manual for the Bluefire coaster.  All DW are dong is breaking down the maintenance into smaller parts over a year.  I've never seen one manual telling you to shut the ride down for months to carry out maintenance.
