  1. A very large portion (something like a third) of the Movie World carpark is now being fenced off.

  2. An IQ test before getting on the ride.

  3. Why are you all thinking they need to announce before the track? youre talking about a tiny insignificant piece of their market in enthusiasts who are the only ones that care about track in a car park. The poeple they want to buy tickets as a result of this build will know nothing of the construction.

  5. The hype has reached its maximum point or at least, until the track actually arrives There's going to be a lot of track to take up that much space... cannot be more excited right now for what's to come.

  6. ^ Pretty sure that's a joke rather than a nitpick. FWIW though I also went for my first ride on Arkham with VR the other day, and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. Actually I came off the ride gushing about how great it was, and I don't gush often. I'm also totally in favour of the $5 fee. It means they can dedicate an entire staff member too it, and keeps usage down enough that it doesn't have a major affect on capacity, and Arkham needs all the capacity it can get. My hope with it is that in a few years it makes adding a second train an economical no brainer. As for roughness, to be honest I didn't notice it being rough or the leg tightness which I know it can induce. Certainly wasn't worse than normal though.

  9. I tried this for the first time yesterday. It's $5 which while I'd rather it was free isn't unreasonable and I hope they will make it free once they've recovered their initial cost a bit. I was very impressed at how well it's been done. Really makes Arkham Asylum into a proper themed experience. Flying over Metropolis and the interaction with The Joker and Batman were just brilliant. Going up the lift hill actually felt like being in a lift with no doors and you see interesting things as the lift passes each level. Overall a seamless and frankly awesome experience. The only thing that could make it even better would be sound.

  10. So after digging through the parkz database and old threads... With GL they said they would make an announcement in July 2011... August 28 black support parts arrived... September 8 track arrived... Started releasing some images September 16... Announce GL Coaster September 17... On December 21 2004 it was announced "Warner Bros. Movie World is set to open a $12 million Superman themed roller coaster in 2005".... June 22 2005 MW had signage stating the ride name... Sometime in July track arrived and during July and August construction started... Could go either way really... 2 month delay in announcement and 3 weeks after parts arrived GL was announced... 7 months before track arrived we knew it was a Superman coaster...

  11. As many as you want. It all depends on how high and safely you're willing to stack the containers. (Before you say it can't be done, they could air lift them)

  12. @mission Welcome to the world of coasters! I'm going to help you out, there's a website www.rcdb.com. You can search any ride by type, of particular relevance to you is https://rcdb.com/r.htm?ot=2&mo=8326. Those are all the rides the same as Arkham, and yes, Blue Tornado is one of them. This link may also interest you https://rcdb.com/8193.htm

  13. No it isn't... AA is a grey colour... Blue Tornado is white track with blue supports... The layout is the same though...

  16. I think he means the ride, with VR, is one of the best rides on the coast.

  17. Isn't the theming really only above the seats and at the top of the tower, the tower itself is just painted a fairly non descriptive colour? A giant coaster out the front of MW with the Batman symbol LED sign (like GL), especially at night, would look great. It's instantly recognisable and pays homage to a major DC character. Big character, big ride. Anyway, I was just throwing it out there.

  18. I'm now reconsidering the list of my all time favourite rides I posted just a week or so ago. Without a doubt Arkham with VR makes it onto that list now, probably quite high on it. I need to ride it a few more times to work out where on the list exactly but it's one of the best rides on the gold coast with VR for sure!

  19. What do you think they should spend the $15 on instead? EDIT: If you go to the effort of finding out how much it would cost at domestic prices (which I'll give you a tip, they don't pay), I'm going to delete the hell out of it because I don't care and neither does anyone else.

  20. I think you will find this is not a ground slab but is a stack of tilt-up-walls being constructed on site. The tilt-up panels are retaining walls. Just over 9000 cubic metres of soil will be imported to raise and level the site. In trucking terms 900 loads of soil will be imported if using truck shown. Sadly your kids will not be required here @Theme Park Girl

  21. I'm not necessarily saying I want them to do this, and I'm pretty certain they don't intend to, but imagine if they created virtual reality for the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster. The big advantage as I see it is they could potentially create several different themed experiences, but all fitting the track layout. You would simply choose one as you get on the ride. Preferably you'd also wear a headset so you could hear sound appropriate to the theme you chose. This pretty much assumes everyone would use virtual reality (unlike on Askham where only a few seem to). Therefore I strongly believe there should be no additional charge for it if it was installed on SDSC. The big advantages of this would be: - No need for them to spend money on replacing the themeing they removed. Effectively they get several new themes, and virtually several new rides, with the ability to create more at relatively low cost (compared to a completely new built ride). - Riders get to ride it several times in one day but with completely different experiences. These need not necessarily be related to Scooby Doo (obviously they'd need to re-work the front facade and queue room). It could be sort of like a new-age "Choose Your Own Adventure" book! Anyway just an idea!

  24. I was at MW yesterday, not much happening in the new coaster area. However both Batwing and Justice League were closed for maintenance, not only closed but had temporary fencing blocking the rides from view - do MW always do this when maintenance is going on? With the re-theming (or at least enhancements) of Scooby Doo, what are the chances Bat-Wing is being re themed as well, to something other than Batman? As Batman is one of the more well know Super Hero's, maybe the new coaster could be themed around Batman - this makes more sense to me than say the Flash, which unless you are righto into DC stuff (I'm not), then the Flash is no where near as recognisable and iconic as Batman. As a prominent flagship coaster, a prominent DC character (assuming of course it will be DC themed) that is instantly recognisable (both character and the bat symbol) makes a reasonable case.

  25. Well it is the only ride on the Gold Coast with VR, so doesn't that already qualify as the best ride with VR? ?
