Your logic is pathetic. WWF is a dead end, is it not? What do you expect? If a ride is closed for maintenance, of course there's going to be a dead end. Also why does there need to be a competition between DW and MW? We should support both parks, and appreciate the efforts that both parks have gone to, to ensure they are safe and open for the public. Get your head out of your ass - it's not a hat. Don't get so offended if someone supports a park you don't like. *Before I get bashed, i'm not defending Dreamworld at all. I think both parks have done their best to open up as much as possible, and they should be applauded and supported for that. We're lucky in QLD to have parks open at all.*8 points

From a square footage point of view, using Google Maps, I measured 3,385SQM for Magic Mountain, and 2,980SQM for the Beachhouse. That said, the Beachhouse appears to be better setup to utilise vertical space when compared to Magic Mountain. Magic Mountain was basically a hollow shell, with any levels above ground being to access the slides for example rather than being multi level, if that makes sense. When you compare the size of the building, then multiply by the 3 standard levels of the building, the Beachhouse comes out at 8,940SQM. This is all from rough Google Earth measurements.3 points

I don't get it. When MW reopened it had a heap of stuff closed, so it got bashed. Now DW months later has also opened with a heap of stuff closed, so people are bashing MW. Reality is DW has changed, I'm willing to give 'new' DW the benefit of the doubt for now to see how the new vision takes shape. The plan seems to be to shrink the park, reality is that's probably all they can do with the hole they're in. You cant argue against that walk to the mostly closed Corroboree past closed shit is depressing. Same as anyone walking past the plaza at MW when Scooby was down for those couple of days was depressing. But if for some reason you think what MW did was wrong while saying DW won't do the same thing, and when months later they did do the same thing so you rip into MW again for some reason you need to think about your attitude. Personally, I don't have a problem with either TBH. Reality is what it is right now.3 points

What I’m saying is that in terms of the types of attractions on offer, things are pretty much the same between the new and the old one (Having visited both) Obviously the new one has new ride equipment (apart from the old carousel) and the slides have a different layout. The old Magic Mountain was never a “theme park”, it had: 4x Slides (All body slides) Sky Cycle Carousel Bumper Boats Arcade Games Mini Golf The Beachouse has 3x Slides (1 raft, 1 body side, 1 turbo tunnel) Mini Train Bumper Cars Bumper Boats Arcade Games Mini Golf Ferris Wheel Indoor Playground2 points

Genuinely excited to see a decent woodie being built here, hopefully borders are opened up once it’s ready to go.2 points

Funny what you can get away with when you're the first to re-open2 points

Hey guys, Just stunbled across this little video on Youtube of Glenelg's former attraction Magic Mountain. I am pretty sure this has not been shared before so i thought i would proffer it here for anyone that is interested. Having not been to Adelaide before, this offers a fascinating insight into an obviously much loved former attraction. Interestingly, this was built on the same site that Luna Park Glenelg was situated on in 1930 before it was packed up and shipped to Milson's Point to become Luna Park Sydney. Nowadays it is home to a small attraction called The Beachouse. Here are some pics of when Luna Park was situated at Glenelg. For comparison, here is some images of the Beachouse, the attraction that currently resides in this spot. There were plans at some stage to expand The Beachouse with a larger water park facility but I am not sure what happened with that proposal. Seems like a great little attraction for the family by the sea. It would be great if it could be expanded in some way to increase its patronage and importance as an attraction for the town. Hopefully , one day I get to visit and have a look in person.1 point

That being said, it's good to not cop a thin laser to the eye anymore now that the lighting is a bit more dynamic.1 point

Yeah sadly the problem isn’t the lack of lasers, it’s the lack of smoke to see them... but in a post TRR worth that is what it is unfortunately.1 point

Well, DW hasn't killed me once. So I'll keep going back. Sure, if they killed me, I'd be a bit more hesitant to return. On another note, finally stopped in at MW today since it re-opened. I must say, Scooby is looking better than it ever has. Still a few timing and tech issues in places, such as the elevator, but the sets/props in the maze look amazing. The disco room has a great feel to it with all of the extra work. I still think it needs more lasers but i'm sure there's probably OH&S reasons as to why it can't be flooded with lasers the way it used to.1 point

Not yet. Latest images are from 1st August and just show the empty slab. Pretty sure they were shared in another thread.1 point

Mate you and your DW fanpage buddies have hated on MW for months with bullshit like saying they're risking people's lives, bullying the govt and cutting corners to sell the place. None of which are true. DW has reopened and it's shambles and your rushing to their defence and bringing a few remaining issues at MW into it for no reason than to deflect from the fact that DW is falling to bits. My bad. Definitely no dead ends at BRC where they've shut half the park. Umm thats the point. Everywhere you look theres a dead end with something temporarily or permenently closed.1 point

Cyclone looks brilliant with the new paint job, looks like a brand new ride and it's much more fitting with the WWW theming, makes it blend in so much more. Hopefully they've done up the track a bit so it's a more comfortable ride experience, haven't been to Dreamworld since 2014 but by what people have said it sounds like it's getting shaky in its more recent years.1 point

How are they covering up/fencing off the Big Red Car, Flowrider and the rest of Corroboree?1 point

When I moved to the GC in 2006 I remember paying around $350 each for mine & my partners VTP passes, they had a monthly payment option. Wasn’t a DW pass holder back then so not sure what they were charging.1 point

Hey @Dano46610 welcome to the wonderful world of the Parkz forums. The theming was removed a month ago because they are extending the queue footprint to allow for more guests to be able to queue inside. They have also removed the seating area next to Jet Rescue and have added more queuing area for that ride too1 point

@xRazzBerryx it will probably just be because of the route all floats and vehicles always go around the fountain anti-clockwise, so they just go down Main Street on the right side1 point
-
I haven't been to the event this year, but am I right in saying that the floats no longer wait around the fountain and instead just move back up Main Street so there's no dead moments? Great to hear they've finally made some improvements to the parade that hasn't remained the same/gotten worse over the last couple years.1 point

@Brad2912 the question is, are they all re-rideable? Would you happily have a go on one or two of the slides every visit?1 point
-
Does anyone with knowledge about water solids pumps know whether they can simply turn up the pressure of the water to make the slides faster?1 point
-
@AlexB well that answers all our questions I like how they’ve labelled the slides at the top too and it says how intense they are. Good work DW I think it would have been good to have one of the twisting slides have a higher intensity level too. I’ve heard from some people that they are actually pretty slow. The speed slides pick up some good speed, but the side ones not too much. Still enjoyable, especially with the varying openings and lighting effects, but to add a level of thrill would have been good. At least this makes this attraction rideable for all ages (over 120cm)1 point

Probably because even with half it's stuff closed it's not a depressing shithole that keeps getting worse like DW looks in the photos from yesterday.0 points
