  8. Yeah I would say the inside show scenes of the ride probably are well past their use by date and we’d need to see some kind to ‘WWF Next Gen’ level makeover before we see some big changes there. Let’s just hope such a thing does happen, but it’s not botched up like the last attempt.

  9. Was a training area/meeting room about 11 years ago, was up there as part of a school tourism excursion.

  10. How would MDMC closing affect the number of thrill rides in the park? Would be very surprised if it was closing.

  11. The company who is currently on the ASX, but is in the process of being bought out, is going to go bankrupt? seriously.. VR was a distributor of Films, whilst also owning their own cinema chains. this just means they won’t be the distributor. Has absolutely nothing to do with what films are shown in cinemas

  12. TRRR yes, log ride yes. Wipeout and TOT no. Log ride supposedly closed as the cages added apparently did major damage to the boats and concrete channels. Wipeout and TOT Literally couldn’t run anymore. So they would have closed.

  13. Dreamworld studios and the old blue lagoon site were different things, albeit near each other. I believe the toilet blocks at blue lagoon were used for the live audience at the shows.

  14. My problem with the lift hill isn't the sound its how long it takes, like sure it would have been nerve-wracking having such a long ascent in the darkness the first dozen times, but after all these years its just boring. There's probably not much they could do to change it though without a significant overhaul. My idea for revamping the lift hill into something exciting would be an elevator (kind of like the one Scooby has) but theme it around a geyser, so its like a geyser lifting the boat to the top of the mountain. Don't know if that's practical but it'd be fun!

  15. what I would love for movie world to do is remove that loud god damn final lift hill on WWF and replace it with a more silent one, It sounds like a really loud jackhammer

  16. I think it’s a big stretch to say this means the theme park licensing will end. Film distribution has alternatives and they are streamlining their model. Where as the theme parks licensing is a completely separate beast onto itself.

  17. Didnt want to start an entirely new thread as this on will suffice, but it does bump 12 year old thread !! Just found a couple of videos on Magic Mountain Miami which I am pretty sure have not been featured on these pages! Great vision and certainly worth a look!! The first one is from somewhere between 1983 and 1987 and there are great shots of the Waveswinger and the Parachute Drop The second video is from a few days in 1987 just before the park closed for good. It was taken by a resident magician who worked there and it provides a fascinating insight into a park in its final days and of the people who worked there. Enjoy!!

  18. I've a feeling Magician actually will go to SW just to get pics, but your premise is spot on.

  19. heh - it isn't really flat - they've riveted it on with a bit of a buckle\bow in the steel so while the steel is flat, its technically 3d! It looks horrible. And the bigger sign back where the vultures are is the same flat printed steel and its even worse - the colours seem brighter and bolder on the vulture sign which looks more like a carnival sideshow sign than something out of the wild west. It seems like the master painter \ artist \ signwriter has been given the arse, and they've replaced them with a cheap digital sign printer they normally use for their A-frames. Apathy at its finest folks. ick.

  20. It was great to see an almost full carpark all weekend at Dreamworld. And WWW appeared to have some reasonable queues too

  21. Had to laugh, on one of the largest GC community pages on fb, someone had a whinge that WWW has moved to seasonal and that their $99 pass is a massive rip off and should be discounted now. what’s more ridiculous is how many people are agreeing with her saying $99 is far too expensive for a year pass. the industry is doomed with idiots like this...

  23. Most of the slides are closed around the same time as previous years, but interesting that there is no end date to any of the maintenance (unless this was a technical error)

  27. If the log ride is going, then they definitely need to replace it with another water based ride. And I would be more than happy if it was just another (but modern) log ride. It’s a staple for a theme park, especially within the climate. If WWW was still an area of DW then they might be able to get away without having a water ride, but now that it’s seperate it’s an essential. Another ride within Ocean Parade is necessary and I would love to see the park get a dark ride (even if it was a shooting dark ride like JL). When the park had the laser skirmish it was always very popular (especially when it was Alien vs Predator). If they could make it more thrilling than JL but keep it as a family attraction it would be an awesome addition.

  28. I went past Aussie World yesterday and despite seeing pictures of the ride, I did not realise how big the ride is. It towers above everything else at the park and will really pack a punch when it finally opens

  30. @Gazza if you look real close... ...nope never mind I hope this doesn’t just become a ride placed in this position and it doesn’t connect in with the theming of the area. The concept art I think looks really good. I would much rather they take their time and get it right, rather than rush things to just get it open

  31. This is gonna cause troubles to Roadshow Films. If the Theme Park License ends, this could possibly be the end of Roadshow within the next few months or years.

  32. I think it might be storage for things in the shop to be put on the shelves when need be or a staff area like a break area
