  3. Gonna sound a bit insensitive here but if it is openly advertised and expressed by WWW that people under/over a weight limit (which is set by manufacturers i believe) cannot go on slides, a bit of the onus has to be placed on the guest for paying full price. If you want to go for a swim but cant ride slides, go to the local rec centre.

  6. The 3D visualisations of the rides lighting will never be made public as they are confidential between the park and it's contractors. To satisfy curiosities though there are 6 sequences for the Disco Room Lighting: 'Laser Retro' Red and Magenta Blue and Beamy Warm Firey Pride Dark and Moody There may or may not be a 7th 'secret' demonstration show which may as well be called "Have a nice Weekend"

  7. Facebook, press conferences, closed door meetings between corporate and government... I mean - a COO whining at a press conference that the whole thing 'is bullshit' is a tantrum. That's not the sort of outburst one expects from an executive of a large public corporation Its very difficult to separate suburbs from each other in the same state. Victoria's 'ring of steel' has been breached numerous times, and has involved an enormous amount of equipment, manpower and logistics. When the 'Logan Liars' breached the border and made false declarations (the source of most cases in recent SEQ times), they had exposures from Ipswich to the Redlands, BCC and Logan council areas. Its impossible to 'separate' that. But you deal with cases in your own backyard. You don't import new ones - you manage the risk with the existing population. Sydney isn't allowed in even though the rest of NSW is because 'greater sydney' has a lot of crossover. 4 unexplained cases in 3 different localities means the spread could be far larger. Sydney siders work all over. When I lived in Sydney, I lived around the Penrith area, and within a few years (without moving house) I worked from Hornsby, Castle Hill, Parramatta, Cronulla, Eastgardens, Sydney City and everything in between. The mobility of Sydney means a case in Castle hill can just as easily reach Sutherland as it can Campbelltown. So 'greater sydney' is the hotspot, not 'castle hill'. It'd be pretty hard to pretend. It hasn't. Anyone who thinks the Premier's position on the Queensland Border has been about politics either needs to stop sucking Murdoch's tit, or declare their LNP membership card at the door.

  8. Wet n Wild have posted the dates of opening up the rest of the slides, excluding Black Hole and FlowRider. Looks to be a progressive re-opening with AquaLoop first, Calypso Beach following, Mammoth Falls then finally Surfrider in early December.

  11. Too bad that's last season's line-up. Still unconfirmed if going ahead this year particularly with no season passes being issued. 1 hour & 21 minutes? (That's right!) Fixed your quote for you @themagician. Flights from Melbourne & Brisbane have been possible since 30 October 2017 (except between June & November 2018 due to the previous airline suddenly going out of business due to high debt). However, I haven't posted it on here yet as a direct Gold Coast flight has constantly been rumoured since flights restarted to/from Shellharbour & didn't want any misinterpretation of information as to where flights left (Brisbane or Gold Coast). If Gold Coast-Shellharbour flights happen, the fly-in fly-out theme park possibilities... Shellharbour Airport is also home to the famous Historical Aircraft Restoration Society Museum (personally recommended by John Travolta) & Wings Over Illawarra air show (held in May in recent non-COVID-19 times). If anyone wants to have a 'Gold Coast' holiday in the Illawarra, I'm happy to provide more tourism suggestions. Great to see Dive-In Movies return at Wet 'n' Wild Gold Coast though! That seemed to be the missing link in the water park experience there lately.

  12. Dictated by politics, but all parties refuse to open the borders fully and instead state they will follow health advice which says to keep things closed? Where is the great change going to come from? A 40,000 people grand final didnt go ahead. It was a 25k one. The capacity has been part of the increase in restrictions, we've gone to stage 4 since october which now allows sporting venues to 75% capacity. Previous to stage 4 it was 50%. Then previous to that 25%. It's slowly been inching its way along since june. You know? following that whole road map the government put out about covid restrictions. Months ago..... This government cops it from both sides from people, if they deviate from the plan they will be crucified. If they follow the plan, they are destroying the economy and ruining peoples lives. You know what the majority of people seem to be saying? Great. You guys are sticking to your plan and not bowing to interstate politics, not matter how hard the other states (and even the prime minister) scream and shout. All this grandstanding has gotten both nsw and certainly victoria in trouble and the majority of queenslanders seem to be saying what we do with our own state is our business.

  13. This is the whole problem. They chose money over people and it's constantly rubbing people in the wrong way because management are just coming off as children having tantrums anytime there's a camera around.

  14. Says the man fronting the company that said previously the government money provided to them should see them operating through the next 12 months. Why not just come out and say we are in the business of making money and the government is fucking with our recovery plans instead of trying for the sympathy vote? The state took a poll and the majority of people are happy to keep the infected zones under quarantine vs risk it spreading here. Crying foul at the goverment who just offered you millions of taxpayers money doesnt generate you support and good will, it just makes your company look bad.

  15. I know this might not seem important, but Sea World just put in a new Vortex sign installed on there billboard, but instead of saying it's opening on Easter, it now says "December" https://www.instagram.com/p/CG9BH6OpUc-/ And also, today is Sea World's 49th Anniversary.

  16. Yeah I’m specifically talking about the sections of track at Dreamworld that hadn’t been painted. There’s no major foundation issues at Jet Rescue. It was clarified here that what was seen was just some mortar removal to access the hold down bolts and release a piece of track. Plausible scenario (I know nothing from the park, this is pure speculation on my part): Section it track was found to have an issue. Requires replacement - pretty common around the world. Fabrication facility in Europe is shut because of Covid. Park is waiting for new track but doesn’t have ETA so has removed reopening date.

  19. I'd argue too high, tbh. It's not the 90's anymore, and the marketing text-book that phrase came from should be shot and buried. It's not like Aussies don't travel or don't have access to the internet. They know what Disney parks look like. And so "The greatest family coaster in the world" would sound like BS to anyone, and is enough of a big stretch that most people would just keep scrolling or click away. "Australia's fastest and tallest ever wooden roller-coaster" is far more effective as a hook - interstate travellers would think of Bush Beast or Scenic Railway and have some sense of nostalgia and/or reference point which would get people's attention and intrigue to want to find more information, from there you just need to create new comms on likely consumer touch-points e.g. "will it be rough" "will it be boring" "can my kids ride" "how big is this coaster compared to other coaters" etc. etc. etc.

  20. Really slick looking video and i'm really, really glad that they're making US-style construction content (which is worlds apart from the strategy they had with Rivals, which left the greater public and community turning to Parkz and OurWorlds for updates - a total missed opportunity and definitely meant a slow reception by the GP as a result.) I did notice the clip isn't really engaging though, which is a real shame, and I hope the lack of engagement doesn't deter them from doing more content down the line. I'd imagine the poor engagement (and feel free to scroll if this is not quite your bag) is due to the fact that a) Facebook prefers 1:1 or 16:9 for organic content and the art studio have uploaded the same video everywhere instead of optimising it for each channel b) the content subject isn't that strong (the clip should be separated into "new ride" and "coaster construction" - when people hear precinct update #1 it sounds like it's about the gardens or something dreary and 99% would keep swiping as a result and c) most importantly of all, there's no context, no "why", no story. Clark should be explaining why the wooden coaster matters to Joe Public and that should be supported with visual context e.g. i'd be getting him to say stuff like "this coaster is going to be the ultimate wooden family thrill machine. It's going to be wild and out of control whilst still having a height restriction low enough that even the youngsters can jump in with the rest of the family. An unlike the wooden coasters of old, this new coaster will be buttery smooth, so no sore heads afterwards, just crazy-good fun." And then i'd have some CGI shots to support what he's saying and then voilah, you've just given the clip some usefulness and thus, far more engaging and hype-worthy for the general public. There's a few other things i'd do to increase the engagement and ROI on the clip but to be frank, if they want to know they should hire me. Otherwise, the cinematography, the audio and the cut are all 10/10 and as I said, great stuff otherwise. I really hope to see more.

  21. Just a quick MW update More work is happening on the Gotham City Hall The interactive element for Croc isn’t working The dodgems are definitely no more, but the arcade is still open And they have added a tv above the entrance gates, which is a good idea in theory, but you can’t see anything on it because of the glare. They are also advertising in park offers through the speakers at the entrance too
