I took this about a month ago while picking up one of the brother's from work, they've been stripping the old baldwin apart, fingers crossed these are the first signs of seeing it back on the tracks on day. 👍🏼3 points

Well done MW! Now please give that facade some love - after decades covered, I can still see the brick slot just above the Planet where Lasers projected for those once epic parade's/light shows. All the same, this is such a great improvement.. Please keep it up!3 points

Ah, the classic can't refute that eventually turns to being pedantic about specifics. To be fair, I should have expected it on here3 points

QR had a boiler inspector, he sadly passed away last year. Right now, QR heritage is being left to rot. There have been no "Steam Train Sunday's" this year, and likely not to be. The only steam trips have been AHRS Qld hires of QR's trains. QR only has one operational loco at Ipswich, to my knowledge. The C16 is still at Gympie, the AC16 Yank is in need of repair. BB18 1/4 1089 is operational, BB18 1/4 1079 might be (unsure). The Blue Baby DD17 project has been stopped, even though it was almost finished being restored, with a new welded boiler.3 points

Agreed, for all intents and purposes, "delays at ports" and "increased inspections" are really just two sides of the same coin. I dunno why you would split hairs over the difference. It's a weird hill to die on. Even if the coaster track isn't undergoing increased inspections and gets waved through, its still stuck in line behind the stuff that is?2 points

I think it's fair to say all cargo will be experiencing delays, due to processing and quarantine and inspection requirements. I'm pretty certain, if I read back over this thread, that both Skeet and Jdude agree on that. I think the difference of opinion here, is that Jdude's original wording suggested that actual track pieces would be subjected to additional quarantine and inspection requirements, which would delay them upon arrival, but I'm not sure that was what he intended to suggest, but I think thats probably the pedantry that i'd be fussing over here, and it seems like Skeet might be insisting on those specifics as well. End of the day, it's at least arguable that the coaster parts will experience some delivery delays due to all of the shitfuck nonsense going on right now, and you should all be thankful that our toilet paper is made locally because there's a lot of shit in here to clean up.2 points

Wow. Thank you MW for bring back this facade. That looks so much better2 points

Oh, so the importing company waiting to receive these goods don't know what they are talking about either? Fuck you're thick today2 points

Perfect. Then provide the list of the hundreds. Cause obviously I have no idea what I am talking about even tho I've actually worked with such machinery before. Free IQ check for you also @Skeeta2 points

Nice to see that old screen gone, while it served a purpose it was definitely getting a bit old and did nothing for the aesthetics of the street. Would be great if they were able to integrate the screens into the facades somehow - WB World Abu Dhabi does this particularly well with screens as "billboards" coming to life when needed.2 points

It took a whole year to build Disneyland into a coherent, themed universe. But that was before the park was open. It might take Dreamworld a teensy bit longer to refresh the theme back to coherency with it operating and open, but one by one, i think we'll see older stuff replaced with newer until everything has had a refresh. Yesterday, the cinema, today, hollywood house, tomorrow.... the (dream) world!2 points

I wasn’t actually at the park today, but my friend says she took the photo around 10:30 so it appear to!1 point

That depends - Doesn't look like the tiger island food outlet is operating anymore, according to the website. If its a quiet weekday (especially a rainy one), Grid Burgers won't open either (or it'll be closed really early), so you're only gonna get them at Dough Bros, and even then, just placing your order could require a search party for the staff... I'd say 2:45pm just to be safe.... (that should satisfy @Jdude95 i'm back to my normal dreamworld bashing self...)1 point

The problem is that I don't have enough on the sidelines right now. Webjet is rapidly approaching bargain territory, BHP and Rio are dropping like a rock. QANTAS has more than halved. These are companies that 100% will survivor, and give it 3 years they'll be back to where they were. Ardent are looking like a good speculative bet, but there's so many other sure things out there right now, and we're not even at the bottom yet!1 point

Now just clear all that shit hanging off the roof and throw the on set poles in the bin and they might have something.1 point

So Qualified boiler inspectors I know of one in QLD. So in NSW, the difference between a locomotive boiler inspector and a boiler inspector is no different. But between a boiler inspector for a locomotive to marine is different I am told. I know within the ones I've seen between loco's to road and stationary no massive difference exists for qualifications.1 point

There are two people in Queensland. The one Dreamworld has used before, and another. There are three steps to certify after a major rebuild. Pressure test with cold water. Smoke leak test with a fire in the firebox, but no water in the boiler. Hot pressure test with water in the boiler and a fire in the firebox. You are looking at around $5k per step to sign off. So $15k. Keep in mind, a steam boiler is a vessel containing water under extreme pressure and heat. So no cutting corners. The green QR Loco's (BB18 1/4) operate at 170 psi, so the boiling point of the water inside is 187 degrees celcius. The water would be hotter than that, to generate the steam required. The ex Dreamworld Perry should be back on track, hopefully later this year or early next year. The Baldwin's condition varies depending on who you ask.1 point

Boiler inspectors are different from state to state due to regulations. While the differences between the qualifications are indeed fairly limited it comes down to the different protocols and procedures between the states that make this the issue. The mechanical principles are all the same. So blame the regulators for that.1 point

boilerplate reply. this doesn't tell us anything. they might as well have said 'in the coming weeks'.1 point

Just in case anyone is wondering, the orange is normally electrical, white is for data/comms cable, blue for water. Most of the locator company's use these three colours as standard with storm water and drains being a random colour. The markings will normally show the size of the conduit, the numbers and the depth to the top of the conduit. The more I look at some of the photos closely, the green could be fibre optic cables but only a guess. Hope that helps...1 point

Who said anything about rushing. I said worth looking at. 47 cents its still worth looking at. Also I don't think I've ever bought anything that didn't go down in value the second after I bought it. Investing is a longer game than that though. I own shares in Star Casino because I think their project in Brisbane will do good, but bugger me I'd love if more people went to the casino because the Chinese aren't and those share prices not looking good lol1 point

How do you know the coaster is going through extra quarantine processes? What you’re saying just sounds dumb. You're fully pinging my dumb radar right now. What makes a "QLD" steam train certifier different from a “NSW” steam train certifier. You’re telling me DW been getting specialist from all around the world to sigh off their rides, but a steam train can only be certified by a “QLD certifier”.0 points
