Is your wife in the habit of licking rollercoaster supports? Because if not, this shouldn't affect her. I get being cautious mate, especially with such a vulnerable person in your household. But shops are still open (including Lego) and people are still visiting them, whilst taking precautions. At the start of all this, people weren't taking it seriously and it was scary to go anywhere because disgusting people were germing all over the place. On sunday I had to go to bunnings for an essential item. They had several rows of carparks cordoned off. markings on the ground indicating spacing. and everyone in that line was keeping distance and observing the appropriate distancing requirements. I'm quite positive if anyone had attempted to flout those rules several people would have beaten that person to death with empty gas bottles. The public mood has changed. I've looked at photos posted by about 3-4 different sources now, and there's not one other person visible in the photos that I can make out. I'd say they're exercising social distancing pretty well. But what would you rather - 2-3 enthusiasts who are passing by make a quick stop, snap a couple of photos on their own and move on, or hundreds of enthusiasts who see a post saying 'containers on site' without any further photos showing what's there, whose curiosity drives them all down to go have a look see? These few posts showing what's there has probably stopped dozens of others going there for a stickybeak.13 points

Geez Skeet. Calm down buddy. Who’s to say the photos were even taken outside of the car? I thank our overlord JDude for getting these pics as he was passing by. I was going to drop in on the way home from essential work to take a look, but now I don’t have to.11 points

Yeah, plus its not like it's bondi beach with 10,000 other people there - the place is clearly a ghost town, plus since they kept the lego store open, there are people going through there regularly. A short detour to provide a much anticipated update to a large number of people who are currently unable to travel is harmless. Don't be such a sourpuss Skeet.11 points

I think old skeet's a bit upset he wasn't the one to snap photo's of the supports first and the get the 23 likes. You can't be having a go at someone for taking a photo at a very very empty car park...5 points

So........... what part of the rollercoaster fits with these supports??5 points

If the LEGO store was open, what’s to say he didn’t take the pictures when leaving?5 points

I think the theme parks will be open by September at the latest (Unless shit really hits the fan) but as far as Fright Nights etc goes, I would say it's unlikely due to the way things are going. Not that it upsets me in any way, but I'm sure there will be people that will complain and demand compensation with their passes because they aren't getting as much "value" because White Christmas etc gets cancelled and it's an inclusion in their pass so it will be interesting to see if Village offers any compensation or something IF that happens. White Christmas I can see as a "maybe" for going ahead this year, but I think the timing etc for Fright Night's just may be a bit off for this year. Happy to be proven wrong, but right now it's capex that they would be having to spend on mazes etc that they probably don't have to spare right now unless they re-use all the old mazes from previous years. I will admit though, I'm glad to see that the parks appear to still be going ahead with their expansion plans (Dreamworld and Sea World) as I really think having these new attractions opening still will really help get people back once things calm down.4 points

I must admit, I lol'd. thats a good one. So, had a couple hours to think about it all, and then read Skeet's latest, and here's where i'm at. I don't consider lego to be essential. But - as we've all seen from Hogwart's Castle, its a great way to keep occupied and while away the boredom at home. So, the lego store gets to stay open through the 'ScoMo Puzzle LoopHole'. So 'essential' isn't necessarily the definition many of us would give it, because we wouldn't regard some things as essential, and we probably need to look at a 'looser' definition (especially since anyone with employment is currently considered to be 'essential' that definition is getting pretty loose). I stand by my earlier opinion, that a few facebook theme park news sites (ooooh.... online journalists!) taking a minor detour to take a few pictures in an empty carpark doesn't cause any harm, and in fact reduces the risk of others descending onto the park en-masse, because it satiates the thirst we have for content in this theme park vacuum. Theme Park YouTube channels around the world are literally uploading videos recorded outside the park gates of many large parks around the world that don't have the first appearance of a new coaster parked up in the carpark. If these couple of guys' photos stop every other guy from going down, i'm all for it, and I reckon if they were polite, quick, discreet, and not causing a nuisance, I think QPS would probably buy the online journo bit and wave them on. As you say though mate, opinions are like arseholes. And I do hope Mrs Skeet stays safe through all of this.4 points

You're welcome. My next big story will be when I get to the bottom of whether the fencing people contracted covid or not4 points

Why are journalists allowed to go and stand out in public places, and shove microphones into the faces of every tom, @Richard and harry? They cover it for the masses. I for one would like to thank the Jdude Media Network for bringing us this breaking news story.4 points

Yeah, would suck to be one of those assholes. Luckily I was on my way past there anyway4 points

Come on people. This is an enthusiast site. Some maturity and stop with the swearing. Very unprofessional. The moderator needs to start censoring some inappropriate post on here.2 points

I think in time ol' Skeet is going to feel a little lonely out on that limb...2 points
-
I know right- its the exact thing that social distancing is trying to promote!! If the carpark was full, then his posts would have some validity......but as it stands its nothing more than a rant.2 points

@Original you seem happy to do reactions on people’s posts but can’t share your own thoughts or opinions...1 point

Agree here 100% Spotty. If the parks are able to forge ahead with their expansion plans, this will give greater motivation for the public to come back and visit the parks as soon as practically possible. Plus , what a great selling point for both parks- 2 new roller coasters to ride and being built in a post COVID -19 lockdown world. I know as soon as they open, I will certainly be looking at a trip to come and ride the latest and greatest. This can only be seen as a positive sign that these plans are still going to occur and I think that the management of both parks realises this.1 point

So what, when are you telling me, when I go for a walk during my lunch break because I work in Coomera, I still can’t visit or go to the LEGO store? I appreciate what you are saying, but I think you are being a little tough on our man Jdude. By reasoning, he hasn’t done anything wrong in the slightest. Heck he may have parked his car, turned the ignition off, opened his window, snapped a photo and then moved the car, all whilst he stopped into the LEGO store to buy a puzzle on the way home from his shift on the Gold Coast. Better be pick it up on the way home than go home, and go back out to the LEGO store.1 point

I think if there were no plans for construction to start soon or close to when the park opens they wouldn’t be unloading the things they needs for footings separately from the columns, much closer to the site let alone in carpark spaces so close to the main entrance. I assume if it wasn’t starting soon they would have kept everything all together backstage.1 point

I live in Logan and work on the Gold Coast and go past Dreamworld on the way home. Exercise is also a permitted activity. Am I in the clear if I park my car on the way home and go for a walk around Coomera?1 point
-
I guess what we don't see is what part of the rules require you to be the one enforcing them, Skeet.1 point

Wow. That escalated rather quickly!!!1 point

Okay, but that doesn't answer my question1 point

What about the person who erected the fence and unloaded the supports?1 point
-
@Skeeta I was on my way to work anyways, I pass the park entrance to get onto the highway to get there and I did not exit the vehicle to take the photos.1 point

Can vouch for the fact that Jdude does in fact work on the gold coast and live near brisbane. Dreamworld is directly on his route between the two.1 point

It's been there since at least November, but wasn't there in September... you do the math... As for whether the event will go ahead - I don't think they should, but I feel like Village will do whatever they can to 'satisfy' their obligations to make it go ahead..... even if they shouldn't.1 point

With the parks closure, DW should try keep the hype going for upcoming attractions etc, to get people excited about new things when the park reopens. I think they should take this opportunity to announce the attractions name/theme and start sharing posts that ride parts are beginning to arrive. Even if construction won’t begin for a while, at least get the hype train going1 point
-
I maintain that the reason they say they can’t make money there is because they offer up glorified carni ride trash. If they made over the entire park to be an authentic heritage recreation of a classy boardwalk pier (a rose coloured glasses nostalgia image if you will) it would do a lot better as a must visit tourist attraction.1 point

You obvious don't understand why the restrictions are in place and what they are trying to achieve if you are asking that question.0 points
-
The fence crew didn't break any rules unlike you.0 points
-
Yeah, how are they doing? Has anyone checked in with the fence crew to see if they have contracted Covid?0 points
-
Still rationalising to suit oneself.0 points

Fuck you @AlexB If my wife gets it, she's as good as dead. If people stopped rationalising why it's ok for them to breach the rules the sooner, we can get through this.0 points
-
Yep, because I always drive through DW's carpark when I drive to Brisbane.0 points
-
That's just you rationalising why it's ok. But I suspect that wasn't even the case. Question? Do you live or work on the Gold Coast? Didn't happen or he would have said so.0 points

Nothing says asshole more then somebody breaking lockdown rules during a pandemic to take some photos.0 points

I don’t think there is any chance at all Fright Nights proceeds. Social Distancing measures will be a reality of another year or two until a vaccine is developed. Can you imagine a fright nights maze with 1.5m between each person in the queue? 1.5m between people walking through scare actors not allowed within 1.5m of you. it just won’t happen. Ditto White Christmas. i still believe it’s a 50/50 whether the parks even re-open this year. PC sure, wet n wild, maybe with the wave pool closed. But the major parks - I just don’t see how you make it work0 points

It seems like there is some construction taking place in the shed where Leatherface and House of Kain resided in. This photo was taken earlier this month. Also, the 1978 Ford LTD station wagon ( which was going to originally be used in the Halloween precinct in 2016) is sitting to the left of the Zombieland 2 maze. Not sure if that means anything? Maybe a Halloween Kills maze is in the works?0 points
