if you scan that QR code, you get a link to the manufacturer's product sheet for the boats showing the new restraint designs. https://www.whitewaterwest.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/SuperFlumeVehicles_SalesSheet.pdf6 points

Was just watching theme park worldwide’s IAAPA video and to my surprise WWF new boats made an appearance at the White Water West booth here a few screenshots I took. Also if you wanted to see the whole thing here it is.5 points

Some climbing fig to cover the wall, removing all the rock and replacing it with grass, adding in a few trees (Jacarandas would be amazing down that pathway) combined with some benches along the path would be great, dirt cheap and would elevate the space from being guest hostile and unpleasant into something people would take photos of. It'd also make that part of the train journey real pleasant in the spring. Sidenote, I'd also widen the path where it deviates around the track and add a nice rest area between Giant Drop & Steel Taipan's flyover. I'm thinking something like one of Australia Zoo's many rest areas. Eventually i'd pull through on Craig Davidson's plan, pull the entirety of spaghetti junction down and pop Giant Drop's queue inbetween where the train line will shape down and connect to the new path that runs along Steel Taipan's wall.4 points

To me I find the conflict reassuring. If Covid was a NWO bullshit thing to get us to take vaccines and all governments were in on it, you'd expect a much more coordinated response. That it's ramshackle and is made up on the fly says to me that it is fallible people in government honestly doing their best to respond to a situation.3 points

If you watch from 0:00 - 4:28, they talk about the design process of the new Big Dipper, this came out on November 14th and it provides some more technical information on the new coaster. Enjoy everyone!!!3 points

Personally, I'm all for rounding up the unvaxxed and putting them in hotel quarantin/mass sterilization camps till they decide to get jabbed. I accept that's probably a bit to far, so perhaps a good faith thing of 'we'll extend passes for the unvaxxed, but you have to call us to alert us to the fact you're unvaxxed is a fair compromise. The way it works is it's from December 17th, till the date restrictions ease, OR the date you use your pass again (Because you stopped being an F wit, got vaccinated and decided to celebrate by going to a park).3 points

Spicy opinion incoming but I would imagine that there is no reason why they have to give refunds. People who have medical exemptions are given the same options as those who are vaccinated so that rules out discrimination. There is a freedom of choice, but Theme parks don't need to accommodate to your refunds if you move to a different state, so why should they provide a refund if you choose not to get vaccinated?3 points
-
@DaptoFunlandGuyI'll be honest, this seems like arguing for the sake of it. Yes they're hiring for school holidays, AND they are having to stand people down for vaccination reasons and have lots of positions to to fill. The 2 things aren't mutually exclusive. Vaccine stand downs are not the only reason (for the recruitment drive). Edit: @Brad2912 beat me to it by a few seconds3 points

I made a statement as to a contributing factor to needing new staff being the vax mandates. I didn’t say the vax mandates are the only reason they need new staff. every day for the last few weeks AP in her press conferences has consistently stated the GC vax levels are not good enough, and earlier this week went as far as to specifically name northern GC suburbs as a problem area. Mate I get it, you have a differing opinion to me. That doesn’t bother me, it shouldn’t bother you either.3 points

About time. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 As of 17th Dec, folks need to be fully vaccinated to enter Queensland anyway so it'll affect a whole lot of 0% of interstate travellers. As for Queenslanders, if you're part of the tiny fraction of folks who think vaccines are bad, speak to a trusted GP and get vaccinated. Vaccine hesitancy and vaccine mandates aren't a new thing. All in all, i'm very doubtful it'll impact business in a meaningful way, and these kinds of mandates have shown to increase vaccination rates, which is a really good thing.3 points

I don't think folks are entitled to a refund, tbh. It's the consequences of a choice. If anything, parks could sell rapid antigen tests at the gate, or if they're feeling super generous, allow guests to pause passes for 8 weeks while they get their two jabs.2 points

Wonder if they'll ever demolish the old Plantation tour track completely? Also I still want the Bunyip back and part of the expanded water park and I will die on this hill.2 points

Notwithstanding the current plans for the site, the likelihood Village ever works with S&S again is pretty much slim to none considering the last product they bought from them had a fault that nearly killed people2 points

Lots happening on the Station and new track earthworks today. I noticed the old cariages on the track on the other side of steal taipan near old stage area.2 points

The choice seemed to be either listening to unsourced misinformation and eventually earn yourself a Herman Cain Award or simply get vaccinated and most folks picked the latter. Let’s keep it on topic now. Covid chat can go in the Covid thread.2 points

I have unfortunately had to leave my job due to not being vaccinated. No I didn’t work at Dreamworld and no I don’t blame them since it’s a government decision but yes a lot of people have lost their livelihood due to the tyrannical government mandating potential poison.2 points

As of 17th December, you must be fully vaccinated to enter a theme park. This will no doubt affect attendance at the parks in the summer holidays, and take some of the oomph out of the ST launch, as well as the new slides at WnW. It will be interesting to see how the parks deal with annual pass holders who will no longer be able to attend, as well as people who have already booked White Christmas tickets and can no longer attend. Refunds will have to be issued I assume. there is also likely to be a rush on pre-December 17 event nights1 point

Agree, yeah someone might be worried about a vaccine..... But then then many of the same people were up in arms about warning masks too and developed bad faith arguments about oxygen deficiency etc even though if you went to somewhere like Japan pre covid people have bee wearing masks with a cough for decades: So it seems ANY measure will make some people unhappy and resentful.1 point

Open ST the 18th, ride, then go out and brag about how fun it is.1 point

I want to read about complaining from all the additional noise from the new Big Dipper coaster. That's how you know they are really full of shit1 point

It was good of them to design the stall location in an accessible area of the park for easy rider retrieval1 point

because some people are morons unfortunately. We live in a world where people think the person who manages the social media posts for a business is the CEO and sole decision maker and therefore they expect corporate level transparency1 point

Hey how come on Facebook the people wanting refunds are being so abusive towards the park even though it wasn't the parks choice? .🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔1 point

You agree to the terms of condition for the duration of your pass, not just when you purchased it. Don't open pandoras box because the same thing you're arguing for could be used against you. Imagine if the parks turned around and forced you to pay $25 more whenever they added a new attraction because you signed up to the pass when they had 20 attractions, but now they have 21 and it's unfair for them.1 point
-
Let's be clear. The parks haven't changed their terms and conditions. These entry requirements are government orders, and they don't get a choice whether they follow it or not. The existing terms and conditions cover this, and don't require the park to compensate you for circumstances beyond their control They can, and have made good faith gestures, both en-masse when the parks were closed, and case-by-case for NSW passholders when the borders locked them out They are not required to do diddly squat.1 point
-
Because it wasn't a rule for entry when they purchased the pass.1 point

On display at IAAPA 2021, Coasterforce shared these images of the S&S Axis. Looks rather unique and would fit perfectly into the plot of land Arkham sits on without even touching the building or courtyard.1 point

Ground has broken on the new additions to the Big Banana’s waterpark expansion. It also appears that work has started on the Plantation Coaster - Australia’s first ever Alpine coaster installation. This is great news and it would not be unreasonable to see a late January opening for the new slide complex and kids play area at the water park. The Alpine Coaster is due sometime next year.1 point

Surely even in the unlikely event that there's some serious issue with the ride, LPS wouldn't just give up running 360 cycles in response. The ride has been operating a matter of weeks. If it's something serious, they'll be chasing it up with the manufacturer and running full cycles again as soon as possible. To limit the capability of the ride permanently when you could probably get repairs or rebuilds for free on warranty would be ridiculous.1 point
-
Look it is literally the first day of testing and they have tried to calibrate the launch system which has resulted in a valley. Cut LPS a bit of slack, still at least more than a month away till opening and you are already sledging them1 point

I think this change could actually have a positive effect. I think knowing everyone attending the parks is vaccinated means a whole lot of people will feel safer.1 point
